Basis Peak

*** One thing that need fixing is the overall battery consumption on the phone. *** Also the watch and tthe app needs to go into some kind of sleep mode when not wearing the watch, to save battery on phone and watch. Nobody needs notification when not wearing the watch. *** The heart rate is highly overestimated, at least by 15 bpm.

Works well for the most part. But several times a week I need to unpair from my phone and resync it. Which can only be done when the watch is on its charger. Slightly annoying but otherwise decent.

This is garbage - the manufacturers upgrade their hardware faster than Basis can keep up. I've had one for a year now that has been useless to me. It will not sync with any device/version combination that I have tried (9 different so far) so where it says will work with other versions of Android, that is bunk. The topper is that even using it with one of the (very) old phone versions that is specifically stated as being supported by the device on the Basis website, it will not sync without excessive effort and once it is synched, drops and requires a long process of multiple attempts to reconnect. The WORST part of the experience is how unhelpful their customer support is. They immediately read the same old stale script to you, and somehow find a way to deflect blame on the customer (being that "polite rude" we have come to expect from call centers). Will not even listen when I tell them that the phone model and OS version are listed on their site as being supported. This experience is so bad that I will never try another Basis product again.

The functionality is good, but the app keeps draining the battery on Marshmallow. Some settings to tweak sync frequencies might help?

Had a LG Tribute that wouldn't even work on it, but I upgraded to the Samsung Galaxy J7 and it's works ok good with it. bad things are I have to restart the phone a lot because watch says it can't find the phone. Also if you go into the profile settings it will automatically crash, but that's the only section it won't work and will just crash if you go in there

When I first installed the app, it synced flawlessly with my Basis Peak, and I greatly enjoyed tracking my sleep cycles and earning new achievements. During one of the app updates, something changed drastically and the app would require resyncing with my watch numerous times per week. Now, it has stopped syncing altogether, and no amount of unpairing and reconnecting has helped. The faulty software has rendered the Basis Peak worthless as anything besides an expensive pedometer. Should have gotten a Fitbit.

Works just like it's supposed to work. It would be great if the watch could detect when I'm swimming laps. I swim a mile, and I get very little credit for it.

***Update: new basis peak update has fixed syncing problems. Thank you Intel. Nexus 6 with 6.0.1 now syncs again. 1star->4star.***

Basis Peak shows more accurate results of heart beat, calories burned and sleeping pattern report is truly amazing. Text alert feature is also very useful. Battery time is also very good.

The newest firmware update fixes all my issues with the new "manual start" workout button, although I'm still confused as to why we can't log distance and speed using the GPS in the phone.

This works better and better every update. This review is for both the watch and app together. When I first purchased the watch it would have been a three stars it was interesting but keeping everything synced was buggy and all of your data was closed in the Basis Peak universe. I liked that it would automatically switch from normal use to biking, running, walking or sleeping and the battery would last for days, but there were some improvements needed. Then they fixed the sync issues, added the ability to see who is calling, read the first 150 characters or so of text messages and allowed you to download the app data so you could look at it yourself or Sync with Google Fit. All good improvements and would have brought this to four stars. Now that they have added new abilities like allowing other apps like Strava to read your heart rate, Simplified control of your music and a workout mode for things like weightlifting and calisthenics. I would recommend this as the go to watch and app for my techie fitness friends.

What a great update. The one thing I wanted to be able to do was custom workouts and now they brought it. Love the new charting, it is definitely more accurate than before. Google Music controls makes this even sweeter. Keep up the great work!

Used initially with an s4 and now with a 5x, both great. App keeps getting better and better and the new music controls rock!

I switched to a Basis after having three Fitbit HRs die or break on me within a year. This watch does not recognise my phone on a consistent basis, and does not recognise when I am active about half of the time. I really dislike it.

Just want to say, following the music control update, this is by far the best fitness watch for the buck. Probably the best fitness watch period. I hope you guys are working on a next gen!

For about 4 months I have not been able to since data over daily. The last data available is March 28. I have contacted support and done the factory reset at least 6 times, it never fixes it. People are talking about a firmware update to fix this, apparently not for Android. I used to love this watch, loved getting badges and what not. Now it's pretty much good for telling time... Fix the problem with Android! It's a smart watch, it's supposed to sync!

It's like they read this review on original text. Great New features. Email support excellent, - old review : no app or firmware update for months to address bugs or install new features. I like my products to have continued development. If products don't have new features you start looking for the next best/New thing.

Worked perfect until my Droid Turbo 2 update to Android 6.0 marshmallow. Now won't sync. Known issue by Basis. I got a reply that basically told me to go try and get a refund!!!! What? After owning two Basis products and was just about to buy another for someone. I will NOT be with an answer like that. They need to just get there act together and write the software so this expensive watch works.

The new firmware and app update seems to have fixed my Marshmallow compatibility issues, BT connection has stayed up so far

Installed new update. Have done all steps listed on your website except for performing the factory reset as I would lose at least a month of data (as of mid March when it became full due to not being able to sync). Peak still won't connect to the app properly & won't sync. I'm extremely disappointed in this product that I had grown to love. I've had one for well over a year now. Please tell me how to get my data off the peak and get this device working again.

I owned my peak for three weeks. Only thing missing was media controls during running sessions. I was thinking about suggesting that feature. But yesterday: firmware update, app update, infomail and suddenly the feature was there at no extra costs. Really love the product.

I like the addition of the calendar button on "charting" page to allow you to see an overview of each entire day. I wish there were a way to track max heartrate, resting heart rate, averages, etc over a course of time (ie weekly, monthly, etc). Overall, the app is getting better, keep up the good work!

I like the old chart view better. How do I make it look like the picture above? The charting continues to revert back to a 12 hour view. When I look at a previous activity, I can no longer see my recovery period. I go to add in my sweat and it pops out to see my whole day. Charting is really poor the more I play with it. It keeps reverting back to my whole day. I'm looking for the previous version. Any help?

After the update, watch disconnect with phone at 20ft and never re-connect even side by side. Need to turn off and on bluetooth again to re-connect.

After the recent firmware update I love my watch more now just because the sole ability to control music.

My Note 3 (Android 5.0) has stopped connecting to my watch. Tried their instruction from their help site but nothing works. Do I now own a paper weight? Loved my basis before this happened

Since update has made the watch usable again.

With this update, they add some love to the app and to the watch as well... now im looking for integrations with sleep as an android and we are good to go

Since the new update, the watch and app sync so much better!

This smart watch may not have the loud pretty colors, but it sure surpassed my expectations of what a smart watch can do.

Love it, so many improvements it finally has everything I could have wanted. The only down side is when you use a third party messenger app, you get two notifications on the watch.

Gutted now update has taken away the miles and kilometres away bring back...

Custom workouts at last.

Many syncing issues make it near unusable!

Lots of new features! I can now control my Google play music and amazon music. Also, you can now add custom activities. Know thing missing is support for Pandora.
