About myStress

1. What is myStress?
myStress is developed within a research project at the Research Center Finance & Information Management in cooperation with the Elite Graduate Program Finance & Information Management. The aim of this project is to identify the stress level of the smartphone owner. Therefore the current version of myStress is recording sensor data as well as providing a perceived stress questionnaire to determine stress-relevant features. For future versions it is planned to support the user through biofeedback. The user can get live feedback about his calculated stress level and if so, what techniques can be taken to reduce.

Three times daily you are asked to answer four short questions regarding your current stress level, yet you can delay or skip them. Please answer the questionnaire 33 times (ca. 11-13 days) to successfully finish the study. The current number of answered questionnaires can be seen in the option menu under "Final questionnaire".

2. What information is collected myStress?
There are on one hand general data about the smartphone, such as battery level or available memory and on the other hand user-specific data, such as the number of incoming calls, number of SMS or notifications. It does expressly not store confidential data such as passwords, contacts, phone numbers or text messages. The mood of outgoing messages (+ | o | -) is determined by an external anonymous web service and recorded by myStress.
A detailed list of all collected data (currently only available in German) can be foundt at http://goo.gl/7S2FNr.

3. How will the collected data be transmitted?
The sensor data is uploaded every 12 hours on the GDrive of the research project, if a Wi-Fi connection is established.

4. Will my data be personalized?
No! Although our research project requires a mapping of data to subjects, yet the assignment is done by a unique device ID (accessible by pressing the Menu button> identification number), which cannot be used to identify a certain user. Individual subjects can be distinguished from each other, but not identified. myStress does not store any contact information (e.g. names, phone numbers or email addresses) or text messages.

In case of doubts, find out for yourself by looking at the whole code, which is located at GitHub (https://github.com/myStress/myStress).

5. Will my data be passed to third parties?
The data collected in this research project will not be given to third parties, with the exception of point 2, sentence 3. For research purposes, neither personal nor personally identifiable data will be analyzed or passed. All data will be used exclusively for the purposes of the research project according to point 1.

6. Who can I contact with questions?
If questions about myStress or code appear, they can be sent to the following email address: mobile@fim-rc.de
Problems or errors may also be reported by e-mail or on GitHub (https://github.com/myStress/myStress/issues).
