Dutch Oven Calculator for Android
Super easy
Useless. Not user friendly. No instructions
This gets you close but not exact by any means. I have found after 5 attempts using this calculator and thermometer that the temp can be up to 100° lower even on a calm day. Add 40% more charcoal and distribute between top and bottom. I live near Raleigh, NC so elevation isn't an issue. Outside temps ranged from 80° - 90°.
After several slow cook times, I added about 20% more coals and got much better results. Once the top middle is browned, move coals to rim to cook evenly.
Works Great on my Galaxy s5 !
The algorythm does not account for elevation. Apparently altitude (5300 ft. Calaveras Big Trees SP) has an effect on the number of coals require for desired temperature so requires a few more coals top and bottom. Looking forward to the next iteration!
I like it works for me and my boy scouts
Now we just need recipe app
That was funny Robert!
Simple does exactly what it says good for beginners
Good place to start, what is next?
Great app!!!
Im sick of idiots rating apps on their usefulness... it does its job and does it right. Why download it and give 1 star? Dumb...
The only request I would have is the addition of a 12" deep oven
Looks like a good idea, saves to sd, but again they mislead you the 97kb goes to card, while 176kb remain in phone, liars. USING LGE OP S, 670series, 2.3.3 Sprint
Have yet to test it with a crew of 17...
This might be a very specific app but that doesnt mean it doesnt work folks. Read the description before you install. Does just what it says it does.
It finally works the way its supposed to.
I don't know. Yikes!
Works just as it should. No need to memorize.
It's awesome. Great way to remember my ratios when camping. Since I use several size ovens I need to keep temps right.
Dutch oven calculator
Had a uncooked chicken cordon bleu in white sauce all in the middle of the oven. Apparently altitude (5300 ft. Elev.) has an effect and requires a few more coals top and bottom. Looking forward to the next iteration.
Hand information!
Great for loving from the oven
Very useful, I hadn't used any guides on how many briquettes to use on a dutch oven. This app does the hard work for me!
Handy quick reference....
What a cool app! We do a lot of dutch oven cooking and this app is perfect for us.
Good very simple but i would like an option for °C and an alarm to add coals or remove from pit.
Way convinient, very simple, doesnt need to do anything more. And people, there is one for the iphone!
Great app for counting charcoal briquettes. So why do you need my phone state and identity? Access to SD card? No explanation. Uninstalled.
Would be awesome if you had metric units as well ie cm and celcius, shouldn't be hard to add? Then it will be 5 stars, until then, can't use it
I like how it shows the temperature. Make one for the iPhone/ipad please!!
Can't wait to try it out. I took it to my Boy Scout meeting and now all the other adult leaders have downloaded it also. Hopefully it will help keep the boy's from burning supper.
Ads? Really? Uninstall! I'll make my own, thanks!
there is more than America on this planet, why no celsius?
Very helpful! Much easier than looking up in book!
I love it. It works perfectly. I cooked an awsome dutch-oven cake with it!
please make it an Apple App too!!!! that would be fantastic
