About Birthdays - Free
The Birthday app is a reminder and contact management app with the goal of making sure you keep in touch with your friends and contacts. In addition to showing the standard list of contacts there are additional lists showing all contacts with birthdays so you do not have to search anymore.
The app allows creating app-internal contacts which do not show up outside of the app. This allows you for instance to keep track of birthdays of the friends of your kids without having to create contacts for them.
To keep your data safe export to various standard contact data formats is supported (vCard, jCard) allowing you to easily transfer any data you created in the app to the contact app or other apps. As these formats are limited in content a json based format can be used for exporting and importing in case you switch to a new phone and want to transfer your data.
The app notifies you about upcoming events on standard and user defined times on the day of the event as well as in advance. Each notification type can be switched on or off as needed. To keep an eye on the upcoming events there are several widgets in various sizes included in the app so you are always up to date whose birthday is next.
In case you do not have time to call of message right now the app includes the option of custom reminders for specific persons to easily call friends when it is most convenient for you. Messages can be based on templates which you can define according to your preferences and may include special tags to automatically fill in the contacts name for instance.
In addition to the standard calendar system the app supports the Hebrew, Islamic, Buddhist (Thai), Coptic and Ethiopic calendar systems as well. You can choose one of these as the main calendar systems for the whole application as well as just for single events separately.
There is both a free and a paid version of the app available. The full version is 100% advertisement free and allows you to switch between the standard white theme and a black theme.
The free version of the app shows location based advertisements as a means to finance the development. You can get both rid of the advertisements, gain additional features and support the development directly by buying the paid version.

The Ads suddenly pop up and play sounds. The import functionality is buggy because the details are blank. I uninstalled it after 3 days. Do not install!

Not the first time this has happened, so I'm removing app. Most of the updates have removed all the dates recorded.. Now what's the point of having an app to remember dates for you, if it keeps removing them in an update.

Really useful - used every day to recognise special dates for special people. A minor timing bug with date rollover for those on the far side of the world has been fixed within hours.

I upgraded to Note 8 and haven't received one notification in these last 6 weeks, and on my Note 4 I don't think I received any notifications for months. Time to uninstall.
