Morningstar for Android
The app doesn't let me sign in anymore. I can't access any news or commentary without signing in so the app is useless
This app worked well when I first downloaded it, but lately it has not worked well at all. One issue I had is it would not allow me to switch between various tracking portfolios I had set up. And recently it wouldn't let me sign in at all, giving me an error message. Due to it's present performance, this app is not useful to me at all, and I uninstalled it. I am happy with Morningstar's subscription service, however I expected better out of their mobile app.
Now trying app on a Nexus 6P with 7.0 .... still too limited in functionality and with a poorly designed UI, and not updated since Mar2015. So once again uninstalled it and returned to accessing M* via a browser. M* IT continues to show great incompetence here just as they do in their web site.
After 2 months of trying, i cant access my portfolios or watchlists anymore, so this app is now useless!! (6 mos ago it worked ok.) I have uninstalled and installed the app 3 times and I'm totally frustrated. It is garbage!!!
I've used this app for a couple of years. As others have said, it crashes twice on startup and only provides basic account info. I don't think the developers have updated the app in a very long time. Update May 2017: I can no longer view all of my portfolios...very disappointed with this app.
This app is terrible. As a premium member I cannot link it to my account and see my portfolios. It's also clunky and slow. Suggesting to Morningstar, rebuild this app.
I love Morningstar, but I have not been able to sign in for over a month. I have had this app for years and not had a problem until recently. I enjoy checking my portfolio several times throughout the day, but have been unable to do so recently.
For some reason, this app limit your viewing experience if you are outside the US, even when viewing US stocks. Site doesn't do that, not sure why the app does. Also, like others said it is slow. Too bad, as their site is one of the best for research
Lazy developer or greedy business :) you are getting zero info with this app. Please, work on it properly....at least put the basic info
Dropped my Pro membership. It's not a very user friendly app. Too much scrolling required to see what's important.
Portfolio view is difficult to navigate; kind of like controlling an Etch-a-Sketch. That plus a couple other UI issues makes it almost unusable.
Horrible! Still loyal on my desktop, but cannot use this.
Crashes every several days. Morningstar is a great company but this app is not impressive. Not a good showcase for Morningstar.
For company to dominate this space to have an application of this quality is very sad.
The app provides only a small amount of information on a given equity as opposed to the full site. Somehow, it is less usable than their mobile site.
Doesn't let me sign in. Pointless if I can't access my portfolios and watch lists.
As a premium member, I can no longer access analyst reports. When I try, it shows me a few lines of random characters. Please fix! After ununstalling and re-installing, I can no longer sign into my account. The app is useless to me if I cannot access my snapshot.
This app is far too sluggish to even use. Go use Yahoo Finance Portfolio instead and see the difference. If Morningstar can't make an app up to basic standards, like the content dragging smoothly with your finger without a 1 second delay, then they shouldn't offer an app. You should be embarrassed to offer this to you customers. It's not an error, it's just bad programming or optimization of a service Morningstar doesn't care about. The only decent use of Morningstar is on a browser.
Now trying app on a Nexus 6P with 6.0.1 .... still too limited in functionality, still a poorly designed UI, still lousy performance, still too many bugs. Once again uninstalled it and returned to accessing M* via a browser. M* IT continues to show great incompetence here just as they do in their web site.
As a long time premium member I expect better from Morningstar. The functionality of this app is horrendous. It lags like crazy and takes forever to load. Also the design needs a major overhaul. Its very cumbersome to navigate through. I hope you guys fix this especially since the majority of platforms being used today are smartphones and tablets.
Not as many crashes as old version. Total value by holding now displayed. No landscape view is a drawback especially because of bigger type. Sort by desired field changing back to ticker order each time you change a portfolio or go to a different area and return is a pain. 8/19/15 - WHEN will you fix the sort problem? Your reply months ago said you were aware and working on it. Search - would be nice to be able to delete tickers from search.
Compared to apps like Ticker, this one is getting dated in interface styling and responsiveness. Where is the widget? As a premium subscriber would love to see this app get up to speed with current tech.
Why not have access to all Morningstar data sheets. Looks like they figured just do something. Well, it's far from adequate. Perhaps this says something about the adequacy of the company itself?
I use desktop all the time. It's great. Mobile app is slow and clunky and you can find that out only IF it doesn't crash before it opens. I would like to be able to review portfolios on the go but it is pretty much impossible with the m* app.
The app DOES NOT allow the user to track his portfolio! This is the very thing I'd use the app for. Morningstar insists that you can but every review down there insists WE CAN'T. Please tell me how . Please do not ask me to send an email, just copy this and send it to yourself. Google reviews is the tool you should trust for an app on google market. I looked again and again. I am logged in, but nothing about my portfolio ever.
have existing account- couldn't log in. Kept saying "try later". Other navigation slow. Not spending my time bug hunting, found many. Delete. Back to Mobile browser-fail
App is slow.. Like website, clunky to use. To many other options for research. Morningstar needs to move into the present here and on the Web.
The app doesn't even recognize me as a premium member after I've logged in. What idiot created this?
I use a desktop for surfing. Android 6.0.1 does not support portfolio modifications ( buy/sell/etc) which must be entered on desktop. All other desktop functions ( news, analysis, charts, etc ) appear similar though a smartphone screen, though interesting, lacks the gravitas of a desktop.
This app is designed for phones, it doesn't even use landscape mode on a tablet, unlike the iPad version. Please provide decent tablet support for Android as well.
The portfolio management function is really good but I need the function of adding security to portfolio on my phone & the app needs more responsiveness.
I have morningstar on my pc. This is about 5% of the package.
I'm on Moto X Android phone, I'm a paid Morningstar Canada subscriber and I can't create a portfolio or a watchlist in the app, or link to my website portfolio. Why else would I use the mobile app? This is 2016, not 1996. Now, I'm uninstalling the app.
Can't connect to Canadian Premiere membership and app itself is just too clumsy
Like m star but this app is useless
Back to the drawing board boys (girls?). No indication of how one gets into one's portfolio after signing in.
Can't use to track portfilio unless you have premium.
Love it
Very limited number of features.

This app is junk. I've paid for this service for many years but I'm dropping it. Website is bloated with ads (with paid service). Watch lists and portfolio don't work on the app. Junk.
