MoviePass for Android
The app has improved quite a bit since my initial mediocre review however I would like to make a request: please add the ability to select theaters that a user like as favorites. That way users don't have to scroll thru theaters in order to see what is playing at the cinemas they want to go to.
Just got moviepass, and the app isn't letting me add my card even though it says it's successful.
All feature doesn't work similar to iPhone app. Credit card update feature is disabled!
New version keeps gps running even when app closed unless force stopped. Pixel 2xl
The new update doesn't allow you to update billing info at all. Left me high and dry when I recently went to see a movie. Support is non-existent at the moment. Please fix your app.
Have only used the new interface once. The maps were messed up, but they have since fixed it. Have only used it for Black Panther, we'll see tomorrow how well it works then...
Great so far a little slow but gets the job done.
The review is for the app not the service. The app is very un-responsive. Once i received my card in the mail and input the information it took away the option to e-ticket. Kind of a necessary feature to reserve a seat at places that assign seating. The help feature yields no responses. Lastly, i got a new cc and can not put the new card information in. There just isn't anywhere for me to do so under my account info or online. Was good when going to a regular theater and before i had to update payment info.
Real customer service phone # is 1 855 336 3632. Not the one on the back of card. App is now finally working again, but i dont feel these changes are better, the pictures are just bigger.more intuitive? No! I have never gotten a response to anything i have asked from email or app support. So use the number i listed above to speak to a live rep in person instead of getting the run around like most of us are getting.
The app is a bit buggy since its last update. It let me check in for a movie that was sold out, then won't even pull up my check-in status (kept saying "server error: try again"). Can't check in on the "Movies" page ("screening not supported" after clicking on the showtime), but can check in on the "Theaters" page no problem. Have had no issues with the app before the update previously and i love the service, but fixing these issues would be a good improvement.
Not for serious moviegoers. The app is nothing but a hassle. Went to go see my first movie and was very excited. The app wasn't letting me check into the movie. By the time I got it working all the seats have been sold. Also keep in mind you can't buy tickets in advance. The service is a crapshoot at best.
it blows my mind how much time and effort can be spent on building this totally new app and yet it's still missing incredibly key features. I'm unable to update my billing information. I'm on android and I promise there's no way to do it. All of the help documents are for the old app. Seems like that's important to update before launching a totally brand new app? It has been out for a while now and all of the help documentation is old. Let me throw my money at you. please just fix this incredibly buggy app so that I can give you the money in my wallet. please.
This app has been updated a few times, and as of now, it's running the best it ever has. At first, there HUGE issues. I had to pay for my ticket a couple of times just because I couldn't get the app to get past the login screen. Even now, there are still a few issues logging in, but I'm able to uss the service pretty regularly and consistently. There's definitely room for improvement, but for any movie buff this app and service is a must.
The new version of the app is great. It no longer logs me out constantly and the map view is very sleek. I would have preferred they retained the list view of theaters instead of having to swipe through them/pick them on a map. I have had no problems with the service itself, having seen about 20 movies already for 90$ the deal keeps getting better with each movie.
Super frustrating app & service as a whole. Why do I have to swipe through years of the calendar month by month when signing up, instead of being able to type my birthdate. I was given MoviePass as a Christmas gift and still haven't been able to use it do to issues with the card, being unable to create an account that doesn't ask me to sign up for a new subscription rather than redeem the gift. Stay away.
App is has glitches and has left me stranded at the theater having to purchase a ticket out of pocket on more than one occasion. Password reset function does not recognize my email or has "expired" even though I recieve emails at that address and I sent the request 30 seconds prior. Great service but the app just needs work since its necessary for the service to work.
Terrible app and useless customer service. After working for a few weeks, it stopped for me three weeks ago. The app simply doesn't work. Customer support is virtually non-existent. I really, really wanted Moviepass to work, as I am a frequent moviegoer. I had recommended Moviepass to friends, even after waiting two months for my now non-working card to arrive, but now I am embarrassed because my friends have had similar problems. Moviepass has made going to the movies a worse experience than it was before.
LOVE the Movie Pass service. Do NOT like (at all) the "updated" app UI. Navigation was made more complicated and steps unnecessarily redundant/repetitive. Beyond that, the account details page won't update my info edits—the processing "circle" just spins and doesn't complete the save. Again: I'm a major fan of Movie Pass, but the new version of the app is not good.
I like the service, but this review is for the new app where I have been unable to update my personal information. I contacted support earlier today but have not heard back yet. With this update and the newest Snapchat update, it seems companies are making apps less user friendly instead of more.
Can you please fix? Tried signing up my husband on his iPhone and it won't allow us to enter in our address. I tried downloading to sign up on work phone Android and same issue. I have a Droid and downloaded a few weeks ago and love the app. Want to get my husband signed up too. Please fix :(
This worked great until this latest update. Tried e-ticket for a movie and it confirmed, then I went to reservations and got an server error. Tried it use it again, but said I had already used my pass for the day. I didn't bother with customer service because they never respond. Fix the bugs or go back to previous app. Also, I don't like the app look. It's more confusing. Very disappointed.
They changed the format on the app & its hard to navigate. I prefer the way it was. Finally figured out that if my nearby theater shows up - if I swipe it to the left, I can see the other theaters one at a time. Best part - I love being able to see as many movies as I want with one monthly fee!
Great service. Horrible app update (v3.0.2a). The list view of theaters is gone which was the most convenient to browse what's out there. The app obviously encourages viewing of certain types of films (or specific films), and the search for movie function does not actually search all of the movies that are in your area! Looking for an indie film? A screening of a retro film? It's not going to be easy to find here.
MoviePass the service gets a 5☆ review. The app gets a 1☆. Here is why, me and my husband go to a movie and both our apps won't log in. Under the assumption that is was a user error we troubleshooted both of our apps. My husband was able to log in after uninstalling and reinstalling the app. I tried doing the same for mine but it didn't work. So I tried to reset my password. MoviePass confirmed that changing my password failed, not once, but FOUR times. If it is not fixed soon we will have to cancel the service.
TRASH! After today's update everything broke. Can't view current reservation (Says Server Error). Selected one seat but when I got the ticket, it was a completely different seat. New update seems to be fine on iOS, but Android update is a genuine trash. Also, horizontal scrolling of theaters at the bottom of theaters map is so not user friendly. DISAPPOINTMENT
Non intuitive. Very confusing and having two different versions that me and my wife are trying to navigate so we can both get e-tickets are a pain. There is also a complete lack of support in the form of information. I just want an e-ticket. Did I waste my money?
This most recent update absolutely sucks. I've been using the movie pass system for number of months now and have never had any problems whatsoever. The moment I updated to this graphics heavy, not user-friendly version of the app, I was unable to purchase a ticket for a non- 3D non-IMAX normal 2D showing. very disappointed in this as I have in the past defended your service to many who said you were ripping people off. Now I feel like the fool.
Suggestion for my fellow suffering Movie Pass friends: If the app bombs on you -- especially after you check in to a specific movie -- try going to the kiosk or box office anyway. It may be that your debit card HAS been credited, and that you're actually ready to buy a ticket. The problem that I experienced twice was in the check-in confirmation, not in the actual funding of the card. Good luck!
The latest update broke the app. The etickets or current reservation gives server error.. the etickets never reserved the seat..lost the seat to some one else. It's a big mess. No reply on chat for a long time. Android app seems having more issue than iso app. Very bad user experience.
This new update is terrible! Instead of getting an e ticket for the theaters that provide e tickets, movie pass has decided to change this without warning. Now for e tickets, you have to go to the theater and purchase the ticket within 30 mins of booking. I'm pretty sure this is no longer considered e ticketing! So I tried to go to the movie theater and my card was declined. I tried to contact movie pass, but they have yet to respond. Looks like I won't be able to see the movie.
It'd be nice if the shortcut didn't disappear with the update, and it also makes you have to log in again. They STILL have closed theaters listed. Turn off push notifications in settings, the clowns send you them anyway. So far it's worked ok, but now that theaters have reserved seating, it's a bit of a pain. You have to go to the theater twice, once early to get a decent seat, and then again later to see it
Movie pass 5 stars. The app was 4 stars but now it is a sh##. It doesn't work mist of the time, when it works it is super slow, the map idea is a tedious and useless one that makes it more complicated. Give me the cinemas to check times around me and see which one is the one that I want to go, and if I need a map I can use an app that is designed for that... We only need a simple and fast app that doesn't have many options, movie pass is awesome we do not need anything else.
This is a complete joke. When I signed up it said that it was a monthly subscription of $9.99 after I paid for it they never gave me an option and put me on an annual subscription and took $115 out of my account. There never was an option for annual or monthly when I signed up and they took my money like it was nothing. I am so livid and there isn't a person you can talk to, you have to submit a ticket. I was really excited to use this service and I got screwed over. I canceled my subscription within a day and I'm never going to use this service. Unless they really change the way they do business, I'm done.
The app was recently updated and it's much worse to use. Previously you could see many movies and show times at once, making it easy to make a decision. Now you have to scroll for everything. Scroll to see more movies, scroll to see the movie times, you have to remember the times because you can't just glance back and forth on one page. Massive failure on the interface redesign. It's very annoying.
I've never really done a review on the Play Store but ever since the most recent update, everything has gone down the drain. Canceled reservation. Wrong seats are given from reserved seats on the app. Missing confirmation code making the theater unable to honor the reservation. Other couples are having the same problems. Definitely frustrating.
The updated app sucks! I want the old one back where it was easy to use. I do not like the movie list being a map of my area I like it listed by Theater name. I used to be able to purchase my movie ticket with assigned seats (SMG) and get my confirmation code. Now I have drive to the theater and pick it up within 30 minutes. Not happy!
I'm extremely displeased with this app. I keep getting "system error" message when I purchase my tickets & go back and it says ticket already purchased, but no confirmation number; for four days now from my Android... I want my money back and no response from emails I've sent. Help anyone else having these issues?
DO NOT SUBSCRIBE RIGHT NOW WAIT!!!!! They updated the app and broke the whole system. I'll update my review if/when it's ever fixed... although I might unsubscribe in a few weeks if they do nothing. Glad I didn't do the yearly subscription then I'd be F@$ked.
I have been trying to contact movie pass since few weeks, but they never replied or never responded and I didn't even get my card which I applied several weeks ago. Not only that, after update it's not working correctly on Android.

I just noticed the new update today and I HATE it. I don't want to scroll through a bunch of theaters in order to select the one or two I always go to. I prefer the previous version much more.
