"I love this app because kids compose and decompose numbers in a fun way!" - Little Miss Primary.
The app includes two addition levels, two subtraction and two negative levels, each with 18 difficulties. Motion Math: Hungry Fish is a fun math game featuring an intuitive way to visualize addition: the bringing together of two objects. Most math worksheets and math games ask "3 + 4 = ?" This cool math game instead challenges players to find, for example, the many different ways to create a sum of 7.
Learning Goals:
• To develop fast, agile mental arithmetic
• To learn there are multiple paths to add up to every sum
• To build automaticity in adding and subtracting positive and negative integers
Common Core Standards addressed: • K.CC.1-7, K.OA.1-5 • 1.OA.1-8, 1.NBT.1, 1.NBT.4-5 • 2.OA.1-3, 2.NBT.5-8 • 3.NBT.2 • 4.NBT.4 For more information, visit www.motionmathgames.com
Well I recently tried to reinstall this for my son. (He got scared when his fish was being eaten previously.) Still I thought the idea was sound and wanted to have another go with it. This time when I tried to install on our Nexus the program doesn´t work and more than that actually crashes the Nexus. The first program I´ve seen to do this. Shame because I think the idea is really good.
My son enjoys this, but every time he does well, the fish freezes. For that matter, so does the phone for the most part. Kind of annoying. Hope they fix.
Really good
Can't play the game if the bubbles don't show numbers. Motorola Moto X first gen.
I hate this game
This is a cute app that many kids enjoy, but the bubbles are blank whenever we try to play on my lg g3.
Screen freezes every time. Nexus 7
App crashes consistently after a fee minutes of play. It's a very good interactive way to learn basic math skills.
It would be a good app if it didn't keep crashing. Waste of money
The numbers on the bubbles are broken
I downloaded it after the fix and the bubbles are still blank! Playing on Droid Ultra
I downloaded the latest version, but there are the blank bubbles. Playing on Moto G and tried Galaxy player either.
It was awesome until it stopped working. Now all that comes up is a blank black screen.
This app stopped working please fix I had this app on my iPhone 4 and I never had any issues...This SUCKS
My daughter loves this game. Gets excited about new high scores. I don't even think she realizes she's practicing her numbers.
Fails on Nexus 5
It is a really fun game
My 10 and 8 year olds love this. Really intuitive and fun. Thanks!
So cool
The numbers don't appear in the bubble and a pink box comes across the screen.
The concept of this game is excellent (decomposing numbers), and the game play is engaging, but the execution of leveled play is terrible. Each category (2 addition, 2 subtraction, 2 negatives) has 18 difficulty levels. That sounds like a good thing but in reality each 'difficulty level' is tied to an integer (guessing randomly generated within a range) and is only one quick session. So if you have a young child who knows addition facts up to sums of 10, he will get through the first 4 'difficulties' in a matter of seconds then get extremely frustrated. It will go up to double digits, then down to 4 with no apparent reasoning. It would be MUCH better if they had a Sums up to 10, Sums up to 20, Differences with Minuend up to 10, Differences with minuend up to 20 and so on. This would allow more practice at the appropriate level. As a side note, even if the level system were improved I don't believe there's is enough depth here to be worth the price when compared to other apps.
Great
Overall, the gameplay is colorful, challenging and rewarding. I set the difficulty higher and I had a fun and engaging experience. Thoughts for improvement: I would prefer to start on the homescreen. During my first start of the app, I was taken directly into the intro level. However, once I modified my fish's color, the problem disappeared. I love your UI and interactive home screen. I also noticed there was no way to quit unless I pressed my phone's buttons. Consider adding an exit button to top left
Both my 4 year old and my 6 year old love this game. My sister had it on her iPad and they loved it, and I was really excited to see that it is now on Android too. From simple addition to negative numbers, there are a whole bunch of fun math puzzles.
The fish is super cute and it's fun to change its colors. Very glad this game is now on android :)
I like the game mechanic here: feeding dot numbers to a fish. Top level is very tough.
Excellent game for a children and adults. Provides an opportunity to improve your processing speed with math.
Great way to teach math to kids through a game
