Auguste Comte was one of the most important philosophers of the XIXth century. The positivism, which is the philosophy he founded, asserts that the human mind and the mankind became progressively emancipated through three stages, which are the theological, metaphysical and positivist ages. This long historical progression is commemorated by Auguste Comte in the positivist calendar which he created in 1849, which was designated to institute a « Concrete Cult of Mankind », wherein the great men who allowed the mankind to progress are daily celebrated.
