CBT Thought Record Diary for Android
So this seems like a great app...until you get to the part where you writing in your thoughts and challenge them. I keep trying to look back at the thoughts I wrote in order to challenge them but the app wouldn't let me scroll back to that section no matter how hard I tried. How can you challenge something you can't see? Great app but a huge operating flaw. Please fix this. I should be able to move effortlessly bet thoughts and challenge section with easy.
Would be 5* if you can make a simple UI fix. Love the app and finding it very useful. When I fill text boxes to a point where the text requires scrolling to read it all I have an issue. Most apps I have used allow swiping on the text box to scroll the text but in this app I need to select the text cursor to navigate the text. Scrolling on the text box only moves the page. Thanks, Matt
The app appears to be CBT in app form. No more, no less. Which is probably why it doesn't list positive emotions. I think that one thing that could be improved is to include brief descriptions of the different cognitive distortions. One other thing that I think would be nice is to make the examples in step 2 be specific to the selected cognitive distortions.
Very simple layout. It's easy to use and has a very nice look. Other CBT apps seem to have a lot of redundant steps that feel a bit overwhelming, but this one isn't like that.
Of the CBT Thought Record apps, this one is the best that I've found. It has a clean, simple interface. It is generally quick and easy to navigate, and there isn't a lot of clutter which makes existing records easy to find and read. As good as this app is, there are a few usability enhancements which would really make this app rock: (1) Automatically save while creating a record. It's really easy to wipe out a draft record by accidentally pressing the back key on the phone. The CBT process requires a lot of effort (good thing!), so it is really frustrating when all of your hard work disappears because you hit the wrong key. (2) Make it easier to scroll through text boxes when creating a new record. Currently, the only way to scroll is to move the text cursor (not an easy task on a small phone screen). (3) Add ability to print thought records. While a mobile thought diary is great, it's hard to review the records with a therapist. It would be great if there was an easy way to print records in preparation for an upcoming therapy session. (4) Add a few customization options, like allowing users to add additional emotions (the built-in list is good, but overly limiting).
Its ok to use so far but if its to help healing and coping, where is the positive side, would be good to have both in the emotions etc so you can track when things are a little easier or feelings are better. May help lift people to see oh one in x many was positive, or get perspective.
Simple CBT app. Could be a lot better if we could export it as text to evernote or even to the clipboard. But it is only kept in the app and can't even select text. Sorry without the ability to export the text then i can't rate it very good.
I love the app so far it has been very helpful. The only thing I do not like is that there is an option for a security pin yet it does nothing
I can't wait until I have a big archive of cognitive distortions to look upon and laugh at in the future!
It's great but there is room for improvement , it would be great if the app mentioned the time of diary entry and also if you could just slide sideways to different entries and if the last entry appeared at last
This is exactly like the chart my psychiatrist gave me, but it is way more accessible and convenient. I find it very intuitive. A+
I really like it encourages you to look closely at cognitive distortions and provides easily accessible definitions
Beautiful app that makes it easy to apply cbt. Best I found for me.
Perfect app, adding explanations for the cognitive distortions is a very nice touch
Good but needs jealousy or envy as an emotion
I am think how can i success in my life!!!
Awesome interface and very good presentation. Cheers.
simple snd easy to use
It's good but it would be perfect if it had more features and also if I was able to add more emotions to the emotions list and edit the list the way I wanted to.
I want to be able to change the date format and a time stamp of when the diary entry was started would be great. There needs to be more emotions to choose from. Could it also automatically save the current entry when the back button is pressed? I press it accidentally sometimes and lose everything. Overall, finding it nice and easy to use.

Everything is PERFECT to me except for the emotions part. Instead of having to choose form negative emotions you should at least add a ton of positive ones, if not let us type our emotions. Typing would be better.
Hoping for an update that provides positive emotions alongside the negative ones, or an option to provide a custom wording/emotion.
Surely CBT should focus on reinforcing the positive alongside challenging the negative? All available options for what you're feeling are negative emotions. That means you can have a pity-party with this app but you can't congratulate yourself for personal achievements or progression. Would be much happier with it if you could write about victories too.
I like the app - it really helps to get through the most negative moments and start thinking more positively :) the low rating is due to the fact that my data got deleted twice because of a phone call!! After the call everything I had written had disappeared! Not the best bug for an app that is being used by people that are feeling down already! Otherwise great!
Great app, but it does not do well with multi tasking. Other tasks cause text to disappear or entire entry to be lost- app restarts to main menu. A helpful fix might be an auto save feature.
Others keep track of only the emotions, this is the first app I've found that helps to accurately take a snapshot of what the problem was at the time. In terms of recovery this will be invaluable. My only request is there be a "frustrated" emotion option.
My therapist actually recommended this app and we trialled it in session, where it was really effective. Now I'm using it on my own and it's still effective but there's just one thing that makes it really difficult to use--I can't find how to scroll up on text I've written. So if I've written quite a lot in Negative Thoughts and want to check what I wrote while I'm Challenging it, I can't scroll up to do so (short of awkward manoeuvres with the cursor). It's the one really frustrating thing in an otherwise great app.
I came looking for an app implementation of the famous "record of dysfunctional thoughts" chart, and I'm amazed at how this app has pulled it off, design-wise. Very, very well done devs!
I have Borderline Personality Disorder and have a lot of trouble with thought patterns. I find this app helpful , especially when I'm on the go and am having distressing thoughts.
I doubted this would work but I gave it a go. I can definitely say that my mindset had a 360 change (for the better) to cope with challenges. I used to write here quite often but not anymore after. Still in my phone in case something comes up :)
I found this incredibly useful for my problems, I'm new to CBT, but this makes the whole process easier. :D
Really like this app & find it good for writing down any worry, just would like more questions to challenge our thoughts. Thanks
I havent experienced any bugs and it never deletes my entries before saving if a call or text comes in. It really helps alleviate my negative thinking & I am so grateful.
It's good but it would be perfect if it had more features and also if I was able to add more emotions to the emotions list and edit the list the way I wanted to.
Can you Move your apps to SD card to save on Memory Space please.
Nice one. Thanks :)
As a person suffering from depression and anxiety - i tend to have a lot of automatic negative thoughts and feelings that are mostly uncalled for. I'm mostly battling myself on a daily basis. This app is quick,. on the go, lets me note down how I'm thinking, and reflect on it immediately. If you use it over a period of time - you start to see your thought process becoming more and more rational and positive. It's helped me to literally stop mentally bullying myself as much as I used to. So if you have that kind of problem, this app is perfect for you!
Whenever I try to export entries to my email an error message comes up.

Really love this app, clean, simple and easy to use, excellent example of how to make a good app! A couple of suggestions to make this perfect... 1. Difficult to scroll inside challenges & final text box if a lot of text 2. PLEASE can the example challenges allow to pick & insert multiple entries, this is a v useful feature 3. Ability to add your own challenges to the list of preset examples would be really useful also
