About Police Witness 999 Assistance
In this technological world it seems odd that in order to obtain police assistance in an emergency, a person must physically dial 999, 112 or 911 - The Police Witness 999 App changes this. With a mere press of your volume button your device communicates a wealth of information, streaming video evidence and your exact location directly to the police.
Your phone will now become an evidence gathering tool, uploading its videos to a central, police accessible server, rendering the theft of your phone pointless. Unlike many other 'so called' emergency apps, the Police Witness 999 App communicates directly and is FREE.
Once ARMED, the App (subject to a number of patents) takes over the standard functionality of your phone. The volume buttons no longer function as such but instead is now a ‘one touch’ 999 alert system, conveying a wealth of information immediately to a police control room. This includes your exact location, your personal details and near real time video footage your device is capturing! Information that ordinarily would need to be verbally shared with the police operator.
This amazing App auto launches your video camera, recording in what we call ‘safe mode’ or if you like 'armed' mode – in this mode your phones camera is loop-recording with its captured images temporarily saved to the internal memory. One would use this mode if you found yourself in an anxious, evolving, and potentially problematic situation - you are now JUST a press of button away from police assistance.
If you now find it necessary to call for police assistance, a mere 1.5 second press of any volume button will prompt the handset into ‘Emergency' mode. In this mode your device immediately starts uploading the previously saved video images, whilst continuing to record and stream further video evidence to a central, police accessible server. (View the 'How to Use' instructions within the app itself to learn how best to capture the identify of your offender)
Simultaneously your device automatically calls for police assistance by sending a pre-written message requesting URGENT police assistance. The text which is sent to 999/911 states: ‘HELP - I need URGENT Police Assistance. Details of my exact location and video footage of why I need help is accessible through the following link – My phone will now auto answer in loud speaker mode’.
Included in the text will be a link and randomly generated password to a central server, where police operators will immediately access a vast amount of information about you and the incident unfolding.
This includes: 1) Your exact GPS location (updated every 60 seconds) 2) Your mobile number provided in a link form, allowing the police operator to call your phone which will now auto-answer in conference/speaker mode. (No user intervention needed) 3) Video evidence of the incident unfolding. 4) Your profile (which you provide at set up to circumvent the police having to verbally request the usual contact information, thus saving valuable time)
Potential uses: distraction burglaries, domestic violence incidents, assaults, robberies, sexual assaults, criminal damage, anti-social behaviour and even bullying. The list of potential users is even longer. Basically anyone with a smartphone, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, but may particularly include those fearful of crime as well as previous and repeat victims. Domestic violence and bullying victims may be top of the list of those reassured by an effective means of preventing and detecting offences against them.
This App allows a faster deployment of police resource to your exact location. Further, the control room are able to take a still from your videos and circulate the exact image of the offender to officers on the ground, meaning the only ‘stop’ necessary in an area search is when the actual offender is identified.
There is only one word to describe this app - remarkable! Provided FREE by policewitness.com

Ok concept & having a link to the police is good. Disappointed with the overall UI. You have to arm and start/stop the recording to access the saved video. Disappointed with the lack of night vision or something with low light. It's not always convenient or safe to turn on the flashlight on the phone. Audio pick up is not the best - could be much better
