Giant Food SCAN IT! Mobile for Android
It's fine in the store, no faster but no slower than the store scanners. There are a few bugs (e.g. It can't find the list of stores to select your preferred store; it doesn't seem to offer any deals) but it works. Not bad, but from one of the largest retailers in the world I expect more.
Not working in my store because can't connect to WiFi. I just want to check priced on items that don't have shelf labels, but this app doesn't do it, nor does the other Giant app. I uninstalled them both immediately.
Android version 2.3.3 cannot get it to work on my phone
Took time to download the app. Tried to scan items. Kept getting error messages. First one was it didn't recognize my card. So I added my phone #. After that, a couple of generic "oops, error try again", messages. That was annoying. Then several, "can't read, no internet connection. Connect to giant scan-it internet and try again". Too many "oops" for me, rated and uninstalled.
Don't know what happened, used to be great. Now won't even connect. On any of our family phones. Not going to support it, take it down
I downloaded this afternoon. took a few minutes to use the app because it wouldn't read my bonus card. Then, it wouldn't read the barcode on most of my items, telling me to set aside for scan at the register. What's the point of that? I kept rescanning until it picked up the barcodes. Get to the ScanIt line, and it won't accept the code on my phone. A cashier had to rescan the entire order. Complete waste of time. I could've been out of the store faster if I had waited in the self check line. Uninstalling.
App used to be great to use while shopping but the last few times I tried it would not connect to the service even though I was on the store wifi. If it falls again next time I guess I will uninstall.
It doesn't recognize my barcode, keeps saying invalid number.
Cannot connect to server every time. Does not work, period.
This app has been out for years, and I get audited about every 5th time. Despite numerous updates, it still has no way to process an audit! No one in the store knows what to do. I have to wait until the next shopping trip and use the scanner gun in the store so they can do the bloody audit! It is completely ridiculous. How many bloody releases are you going to have before it can handle an audit?
Garbage. Please fix our remove from play store
When I try to checkout in the Scan It line with the app it never works. One of the employees told me that the app doesn't work and that I would need to use the scan it devices in the store. Pretty sad when the employees tell you the app is garbage.
Love it when it works.
No favorite stores in PA ? The giant in Hanover pa.has it.
There are no stores in this area. This would be a great help for the disabled.
I use to love this app but it does not work on my Galaxy S6...very frustrating!
Installed it to use when none of the scanners in the store were charged. App needs to connect to the store wireless network, and after 10 minutes of "Connecting... Obtaining IP Address", I gave up.
Doesn't work with HTC m8
Can't even open the app now. Also not compatible with lollipop on M8.
Can't load app. Crashes at launch every time. *Update* Latest update finally allows this to work on my Nexus 4. So far it's been working great. Haven't even been audited yet. Much, much improved from the previous version.
Previously gave this 1 star due to the reboot issue. A few weeks ago my Verizon Galaxy Nexus received its OTA 4.2.2 update. I just tried the app today and it works wonderfully.
If you're thinking that this app will speed up your shopping trip, think again. You would expect this app to work just like the regular Scan It! hand scanners in the stores, and to a certain extent, it does. Where it falls flat on its electronic rump is when it comes to checkout. Now, the app will not run unless the stores self checkout lanes are open, so it's obvious the two are intended to work together. But when you get to the checkout and try to actually pay for your order it won't let you. No, it tells you that the order has to be completed at a different register. WTF? I spoke with the store manager on duty when this happened and she agreed with me, it's the dumbest thing Giant has ever done. If you try to check out through self checkout then the cashier manning the self checkout lanes has to manually scan the order with her portable scanner, meaning, if the store is busy, you're going to be standing there waiting and holding up the line for quite some time. And forget about canceling the order and just manually scanning everything through the register scanner, you can't! It won't let you cancel the order until the cashier scans her card first. UNINSTALLED!!
It worked well on the phone....problem is you still have to upload to giants scanner so it is a waste of time.
App is great to use while shopping and makes checkout a breeze, but since the last update it keeps pinging the location service and eating up my battery. Have to force close the thing to make it stop. Hope it gets corrected in the next update.
This worked decently well on my Verizon Droid RAZR HD running CM11 (about 3.5 stars good), but it immediately crashes on launch on my Verizon LG G3 VS9485. Please get it working again!
I can't even use it cuz it doesn't even have Norristown Audubon Center in PA the one that's right down the street from me and it sucks
Better thanbe fighting with scanner rack every time! Trouble scanning few items but easy to use
App won't even start on my LG G3.
It scanned my bonus card, but it won't let me enter my Egypt Road, Norristown, PA store. This app sucks as much as obama. I sure hope that this is fixed soon; and the app, also............... (Samsung Galaxy Note 2)
Works for me
Says the bar code and number for my bar code are invalid on my giant card. But it's not so I can't use the app
Would be nice when I checkout if a barcode of my Giant card would appear on my screen so I just need to scan my screen then having to look for my card.
Android version 2.3.3 cannot get it to work on my phone
I loved the app on my galaxy S2 but I can't even get it to open on my Note 3.
Installed it to use when none of the scanners in the store were charged. App needs to connect to the store wireless network, and after 10 minutes of "Connecting... Obtaining IP Address", I gave up.
Please add: (1) A credit card check-out option in the app where one would not have to go through a check-out lane to pay. (2) Quick login (one should not have to scan in the Giant card every time one opens the app). (3) Change the networking of the app so that one can get on the internet while using the app. I couldn't access my online shopping list while I had the Scan it app open. (4) Add other payment options like PayPal and Google Wallet. (5) Add location awareness, had to enter my zip. Thanks, JB
The first time I used it, 0 issue. The 2nd time, not so lucky. If I received a text or call I had to force close the app and resume the order (luckily). However, when it came to check out it scanned and then I put in my # only for the machine to tell me it's not recognized. Employees are not trained for this app, and the result was rescanning the order. Same thing happened the next two times. I'll try again when they fix it
Have only used this once, but it worked just fine. It really isn't much more than a substitute for the scanner available in the store. I'm not interested in having it process payment as some reviewers have suggested. The enhancement I would like to see is a way to place a deli order without visiting the kiosk (which has been out of order frequently at my local Giant). It would also be nice if you could end the order by a menu option rather than having to scan the bar code in the checkout aisle. You could do it while waiting in line.
I updated and now the app won't let me scan anything because it is stuck initializing the scanner. Even after 5 minutes.

I loved this app before your "facelift " since the update it hardly scans the barcodes some it focuses on some it doesn't at all! I had no trouble with the earlier app. Please fix it!
