Basic knowledge of Type Ceramics, advantages and disadvantages.
Maybe you've gone to the ceramic shop and see so many kinds of ceramics of design and price. Confused to choose which one? Ceramic type I will help you by giving a bit of knowledge about ceramics. Floor tile made from clay and other additives is formed and burned at a high temperature so that the body is hard and brittle. There are several classifications to differentiate types of ceramics, which are as follows:
Ceramics that have a ceramic coating This is the type most abundant in the market for floor and wall applications. Layer is applied with a high temperature so that it blends with the ceramic body. This layer is what makes the design motif and texture ceramics. Ceramic coating made of waterproof, fire resistant and easy to clean because it is very dense and non-porous.
Ceramic density and water absorption
These two factors are closely interconnected. Usually, the density of ceramics is directly proportional to the combustion temperature. The higher the density the less water that can be absorbed by the ceramic. This determines the function of ceramics in the design application.
Ceramic that absorbs water more than 7% only for indoor use and is not resistant to weather changes.
Ceramic that absorbs water between 3-7% only for indoor use and is more resistant to weather changes.
Ceramic that absorbs water between 0.5 - 3% can be used in indoor or outdoor, but not resistant to sun and rain directly.
Ceramics which absorb water less than 0.5% is the type most resistant to sun and rain directly.
