GeneDroid - it is an easy to navigate family tree, based on a well-known service Geni.
Version 0.3 allows to link Geni profiles with your Android's contacts!
The main features of the program:
· Family tree view and navigation
· Demonstrate family tree to your friends and relatives
· Read information about the family members in their native language
To start to enjoy the program you should have a free account on http://www.geni.com/. You have to log in using the username and password from your account in Geni. Then you will be shown the family tree with the easy navigation on it. If you click on the current tree element (the badge), you'll see the detail information about this person.
GeneDroid is a great opportunity for Android smartphones users to get connection with a leading service platform for genealogy. Interestingly, Geni users from around the world work together to build a single, comprehensive family tree. Your tree will grow quickly, because now the system has more than 50 million profiles registered.
GeneDroid - is actually the first Android application that uses Geni data.
Of course, we can have many different functions to implement in the next versions of GeneDroid, that is why we are looking forward to listen for user feedbacks and try to implement the most popular requests.
Thus we plan the following additional features for the next update:
· Display photos of each family tree member
· Connections drawing
· Show additional information in the profile
As a postscript: To know your lineage means to respect your family history and be proud of it, transforming your ancestries’ experience and achievements in the progress and dignity of your children and grandchildren!

It doesn't show the names properly, if the hierarchy is more than 3 in a tree created. The Geni web site has more option. I wish they work towards adding those options s here.

Well, it is easy to navigate, but operating the program on my Droid 2 Global is a nightmare...screen freezes, can't type numbers to enter birthdays.

Contact sync is a nice touch! Family browser is slow and unresponsive at times but otherwise this is a good start. Would be nice to get notifications on birthdays and other events. Photo sharing would be nice feature to have as well.

The app shows pictures for wrong profiles. When I press a profile, another one opens. Everything seems to be mixed by random in a big mess.

Can't even instal the app on my S2 Droid!! Error message (#500) comes up & others. Also freezes my phone so i have to reboot it, or take battery out to shut it down & restart. A shame because i really wanted to see all of the hard work & long hours, done by my relatives was accessible via a phone app, linked thru Geni website. I thought this would've been a perfect app!! Hope it can get up to speed soon. Regrettably very unimpressed.

Needs much improvement. Doesn't have lines to represent relations. Zooming in and zooming out to be improved. doesn't show all relations. Will be good to have people listed in order

Geni attempts to suck information from people, give nothing back, and then use that information for there paid members. There is little benefit of the free account to use it. The fact that I didn't need to make a password before I imput my family was a huge tipoff. You have to download Geni to use this app. F all of it.

The online version is tremendously easy to use. The mobile app has some challenges. Double clicking on a link in your tree will not take you to the person selected, but you can link to the web from the app so that's a work around.

Atrocious. I can view only three generations of direct ancestors, plus an assortment of great uncles that appear in random places in the tree.
