Oxford Shorter English Dict for Android
Nice app. Terrible customer service. Never answer e-mails. Update - they replied to my e-mail 3 weeks later and pretended that they couldn't find my purchase. Total amateurs at best. Avoid!
This is actually a very good dictionary for someone used to using dictionaries. I give it one star for being obnoxiously persistent about demanding a star rating from me. Well there you go: one. I hope you learn from it.
Dear team. I have been happily using the full paid version of the app for two or three years (and the print version for decades!) Agree with all positive comments below. Today I tried to upload the update for the new interface and find I am expected to pay all over again. Is there some way existing customers can do this for free? UPDATE: Thanks to Mobi customer service for sorting this out.
Extraordinary dictionary improved by app. I've used this dictionary for 30 years & found it unequaled in explaining the history, development & naunce of unfamiliar words.
The trial version is ridiculously limited. You can't tell how useful the paid version is without downloading the database before paying £19! They can still apply the 30 day limit - very shortsighted
Very complete definitions that make me feel incredible when I use the definitions in sentenses. Also great derivations and you can see what all the symbols mean too.
Useful but overpriced
I hate it
It's simply great.
A nice app
Brilliant
This dictionary is the best of its class! I have used Merriam Webster's Unabridged ® before, but this shorter dictionary easily beats the former. Clear and friendly interface is another mark of quality, let alone the number and style of presentation of the entries. Also now I can retire the bulky print version too. Thanks a lot MobiSystems for making dictionary-consulting a fun!
Customer support fixed the problem. Thanks!! --Disregard the following previous comments. I'm not deleting, just in case someone has a similar issue. ||| Although rather pricey, I've considered this an excellent dictionary; however, now that I am trying to reinstall it on an old phone (victim of the Note 7 debacle), I've only got a trial version and am expected to pay another hefty price for it. Can this be right? I've emailed customer support.
My phone's security system is sending notifications that it takes some persnal details or somithing like that. It has also writen to report this thus i have given a feedback like this.
Hate it so much don't never ever download it
Best by far for word origins and sources of any downloadable dicfionary
Mellifluous curlicues of tintinnabulation are unfortunately underrepresented.
But why do I have to enter the serial number every other day?
this is good one but not so useful
I enjoy using this dictionary.

For years, I've used several, sporadically, to maintain a level of comparison. This Oxford Shorter is unsurpassed for quantity, quality, quickness. . five stars.
The app breathes new life into the dictionary for someone used to the printed edition's tiny font and two volumes each weighing three kilos. Just tap ANY word in an entry, and the app takes you to its headword - a browser's dream! The transfer of the content into the app seems accurate, too. The multi-color typeface is amazingly clear and easy to interpret. [But it could be improved by using a font which doesn't upset line spacing when superscript numbers are used.]
Great dictionary and a good app.. But I paid for an ad-free version (see app description), which I got, but then it was updated and now has two large buttons at the bottom which are ads for other mobisystems dictionaries.. I'm happy to have these as links in the menu or about screen but not in prime dictionary real estate.. can you please remove them again...
I have a question. If I buy the full version will I be getting the shorter Oxford dictionary available for offline use or I will be given offline access to Oxford American and Thesaurus? The description in the introduction about offline features does not mention shorter OED. Can the development team clarify what I will get on purchasing the full version: The SOED with offline use or the Oxford American and Thesaurus? Also what is the size of full offline version of the dictionary?
Hiw can i get reedem code plz tell me fast

The most comprehensive offline Oxford Dictionary that I can find. It has some very nice features too.
I'm interested in the sheer volume of words - the biggest I've seen so far. Wish it also had a thesaurus, but would make it too large. Love the add your own folders & editing favourite entries. Searching with wildcards is a bit broken - it considers brackets + definitions as part of the word. Note :- like other MSDict dictionaries it loses colour if you enable HighContrastText in Accessibility Settings.
Great dictionary and support from Moby systems. Thank you!
I like this
Best
Why not give the price up front?
Because this app helps in studying

This is terrible. Why are there so many abbreviations? Sure, a printed dictionary might need to conserve screen space, but not an online version. When you click on an abbreviation, you can't even get a definition, just a "word not found" message. This, combined with the horrible, intrusive ads, makes an app to be avoided.
