Oxford French Dictionary for Android
My favorite translation dictionary, Eng-Fr, but it's not perfect. Some words missing, some figurative meanings not illustrated. Hate Wird i5f the Day but can't see how to turn it off.
Annoying word of the day notifications send random words in English and when you click on them take you to a completely different word in French. Totally broken functionality
This is OK for looking up general words but it's not as comprehensive as the actual book version and I'm a bit gutted there aren't any usage notes or etymologies. Another thing I found odd is that during my trial period was a 50% off offer but it was more 25% (from £13.20 to £9.49), which I thought was false advertising.
You've insistently asked to be rated and your prayer has been heard. Downgrade the dictionary to the previous version and the rating will be upgraded.
Update worse. The earlier version I paid for was great. Can I have the old version back?
Fast & straightforward operation with detailed explanations. Edit: May-update is slooow
The new format is odd and looks like a feely advertised app (which is not the case since I already paid for it to get rid of all the ads).
Not a French dictionary. No results when you search French words. Also hassles you with ads.
Worst no service just asking for rating premium etc
Really nice except for the hassle of changing machines but I THINK they solved that.
When are planning to add word pronunciations? There's no point in buying it if it lacks that!
Comprehensive English/French bidirectional dictionary.
If there were different verb forms shown in the same page, would be better
I'm so bind up to this application.... tnx a lot

Very useful and easy to use. Could do with slightly improved layout/user interface. Also, the randomly generated words of the day are very very random, to the point that I probably wouldn't use many in English, let alone French. is there a way of linking this to most searched (or other word lists) to make it more useful. Same for the history.... thus is useful, but could helpfully be incorporated into a reminder/learning/flashcard function (or linked to another app, like babbel or duolingo?). But overall very useful.... does what it says on the tin. It's a dictionary at the end of the day :-)
KEEPS NAGGING UNTIL YOU RATE IT FIVE STARS I've been a customer since 2009, and have bought about 10 dictionaries. The app then was basic, the customer service excellent. In recent years the app has been made worse, with permanent upsell wasting screen space, useless frills like Word of the Day, and little improvement to basic function. Customer service continues to be polite, but I've had no response to my many suggestions for improvement.
I experienced word list loading delays when searching for words. I have used another dictionary with the same format but did not experience that issue...must be the app ? Otherwise it has comprehensive coverage , just a tad pricey for the full licensed version.
Much quicker than using a physical dictionary and a one off payment means it can be used offline. No audio pronunciations that I am aware of though which is shame.
It's actually worth more like 3.8 stars, but I'm giving it just one as a protest at being continually subjected to a pop-up suggesting that I rate it 5.
App is decent. Better than Google translate on single word but not as not as good as the actual hardcover book that seems to have better definitions and examples. I would like to see the words that are above and below the word I'm looking for so that I could learn more or see more options instead of only getting a tiny limited scope. A sort of page scan where is I scroll up I can see n words before and the same below my requested definition.
It takes too much time to get the meanings
A good dictionary. I would get the full downloadable version if planning to use it while abroad though.
It is very powerful tool to learn French, I regretted that I paid it at first, but now as I use it often, I found it really worth your money!!
Excellent resource. The words are shown in many phrases to illustrate their usage and the context they appear in.
I just bought this app for my French class. It could use a voice pronunciation feature.

One of the best dictionaries, but it may be improved. It would be great to have the pronunciation guide, as OLAD or the Oxford Dictionary of English. Definitely, way too many (and annoying) reminders to rate the app!! Otherwise, a rather nice and friendly user interface, as well as other features (quick switch between the languages, the word of the day or the special topics section).
