Collins Greek Dictionary for Android
The dictionary is OK but there is a lot of room for improvement. 2 stars only because of the nagging message that keeps appearing (this is on the paid for app, not OK) that wants me to give it a 5 stars rating.
Helps me with Greek language. Very good
After 30 days $9.99 must be paid to keep using it.
It is excellent, and does exactly what a good dictionary should do.
I've been a customer since 2009, and have bought about 10 dictionaries. The app then was basic, the customer service excellent. In recent years the app has been made worse, with permanent upsell wasting screen space, useless frills like Word of the Day, and little improvement to basic function. Customer service continues to be polite, but I've had no response to my many suggestions for improvement. The in-app Rate App function only offers a 5 star option!
30 day trial
But why the hell does a dictionary need access to my call info, photos and all the rest? Uninstalled.
New version is so slow it is sleep enducing.
I m a new user so i cant say nythng....i rated this app bcoz if i wont the app wouls say it repeatedly....
This is only a demo, not a full version. You need to pay to unlock and use it.
Below average..plus TRIAL!
I like it but hate verify by device id
Didn't work on my desire hd
how on earth am I going to say something in greek if all translations are in greek letters? why do you think I needed the dictionary for? sucks BAAAD
THIS SUCKS SOOOO BAD
Why can't you buy this on the market? Instead you have some dodgy system meaning you pay extra to keep the app for a year sorry this is just greedy.
It's great app, even better thag Pro version, i like it and i can learn greek now cuz i have it ^_^
All of these dictionaries are sayin theres an error with the parent directory or some rubbish.
Ambushed by a "trial" version, 1 day trial at that. Keep it. Uninstalled
Why trial?

I've been using this app extensively almost daily for about 18 months and am prompted to finally review it after the most recent update which allows you to use it as a look up dictionary for words in other apps. This a stunningly good upgrade particularly given the daunting nature of Greek grammar. Overall this is an outstanding dictionary for serious learners of Greek and probably rather challenging for beginners or casual users. It is based on the Collins printed dictionary which has extensive coverage of contemporary and fairly colloquial Greek and is also quite good on more formal language which is still common in newspapers and even websites. It does not give any grammatical information about Greek words however and even the gender of nouns is given in a Greek abbreviation. You will still have to use a large print dictionary to find e.g plurals and past tenses. Such is the nature of the language! The app version allows you to tap through between the basic uninflected forms of words which is incredibly helpful and addictive initially. By chopping off endings in the lookup you can still track down the word you want. The recent upgrade improves this considerably as by using "Copy" you can even find many inflected words. Swiping also allows you to move quickly between related or nearby words. Finally the trial version is just that - enough to see if this is the app for you - and full of intrusive ads. If you are looking for something simple and straightforward you may be better off with something else.
