Collins German Dictionary for Android
Presented with a full screen video ad with sound after searching the first word. Great first impression. Limited to searching for either English or German at a time instead of matching either. No extra grammatical information, like conjugation and cases tables, which is a must have. Common usages is good.
Very satisfied
I think I'm using the paid for version and it is smooth without ads. It seems to be missing some very common words though. My biggest issue is that the Word of the Day Notification never matches the word that opens when you use it.
this Word occurs in basic grammar book, but not in this Dictionary. Is it Collins Gem ? UND i want my offline dict data on my ext SD card folks. This is lollipop, so please edit that XML for the apk and give me a popup dialog to make my choice. Marshmallow? Nougat? Please - use Data on Ext SD Card Please allow WOTD to be from advanced, intermediate, novice. Rated, but the damn startup screen still has THAT eternal option. Duh. What should be on foreign Lang Dict HomeScreen? Good Q. Why not ask paying users who work off-line??
Never download it. not usable for students at all, it is overburdened with ads and makes it impossible to study
It doesn't work at all! UNINSTALL!! Try putting instructions up front! Your app isn't worth the price.
I like the word of the day feature
Too much ads and no offline browsing
It's useful to improve my german
Nothing much
Very very very very very very very very very bad
Awesome
Good and useful dictionary with a couple of reservations: it's not quite as in depth as I'd like, as I'm a fluent German speaker and it's a little pricey (Samsung phones and tablets offered an older version (Dio-Dict 3) for free that was a little more extensive). Still, considering how much a hard copy would cost it's a bargain. Very easy to use and I particularly like the word of the day feature. It's worth noting that this is available for both languages, something I didn't notice until I'd left the dictionary set to German and the next suggestion was the German one rather than the English one that was in the notification. However, it allows you to browse through previous entries and will show you the one for the currently selected language. Recommended.
This seems more complete than the ABBYY Lingvo German-English in-app translator that I use, daily. Collins shares an interface with the Oxford and the Oxford appears to have grammatical notes that I've not seen in the Collins. Both are built by Mobisystems. I very much like the word-of-the-day feature; I wish that allowed switching from Deu=>Eng to Eng=>Deu, to give me a more complete challenge.
Ich habe seit einem Jahr es benutzt. Es gibt mir viele Möglichkeiten, mich zu verbessern. Ich bewerte es mit guten Noten.
Some words are missing.
Overall its good. Would be nice if it could also display the conjucation of the verbs with examples.
excellent
As a non-native speaker of German I have too often looked up words that aren't in this dictionary. The print version of the Oxford-duden is far better. It's a shame as their Polish and Russian dictionaries are good, wheras this one is not worth paying for.
Happy to pay for something useful, happy to accept a reasonable level of advertising, but in these dictionaries the advertising is so intrusive and overwhelming that I cannot bring myself to use it long enough to determine whether it is worth paying for.
Easy to use and handy to have a German dictionary on my phone but it doesn't give the German plurals which is actually really bad since they are not consistent like most English plurals. Also, many words I've tried to look up are not listed. If they solved these problems then this dictionary would be superb but as it is it's not worth the money I paid for it.
This is the same app as the Oxford version with the same problems: unresponsive and no plurals.
Really useful as a quick reference!
Love it!
Paid the $7.99 (worth it) for no ads full featured and offline access. For all those complaining, can you flip through your german to english paper dictionary faster than I can speak, take a pic, or type a word into this app and quickly find the definition, gender, usage, etc? No, of course you can't. Downside is that there are no audio pronunciations for any German words. Dictionary could be even more superior if they integrated conjugation and declension charts into the definitions of adjectives/verbs.
This is the best and greatest application I have ever installed. It is really useful If I could give more stars I would give unlimited stars for this application
Always works, has the goods
But occasionally there are words (that should be common) that I can't find (then I use Google Translate.)
Very good but lacks some slang words. Could be updated
I used the previous version for several years & it served me well. This new, brighter shinier version suffers from the .'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' syndrome. Some team of nerds with nothing else to do have made it look better but actually provide zero improvement to usefulness. And in the meantime it plays up like crazy if you change your phone as I did. Keeps demanding new redeem codes or re-payment. Fortunately Mobi-Systems are extremely quick with support responses (within the hour) so that helped!

Had this dictionary and the French one on my old Xperia phone. Got a new phone today and the apps just crash before you can use them! Please fix this!! I paid like £8 for each of the apps. Ill put the rating back to 5 star when the problem is resolved
Expected to see a replication of the Collins dictionary as a website, which is arguably one of best German-English dictionaries on the market. Instead you got a very much basic dictionary to which there are several better alternitave apps for free

Cannot connect to the server
Always works, has the goods
Having paid for the app, each time I've bought a new phone, I've had to contact Mobisystems to get an activation code. They're helpful enough but this shouldn't be necessary in Play Store. I won't be buying from Mobisystems again.
It needs active internet connection to work. It cannot be used Offline. I tried it as it said "use offline". But useless. Uninstalling now.
Always works, has the goods

For german learners and readers it's the best app apart from Oxford dictionary
