Collins English Dictionary

I still hate the new interface, but in all fairness to the content, it's a good dictionary. It's nice to have Collins's IPA transcription for words rather than the accented Latin characters common in dictionaries from the States. Definitions in the CED tend toward concision over detail, which I find helpful in many cases. The interface—while cluttered and bright (I'd love a night mode)—is quite useable once you're past the welcome screen. The interface in this dictionary is identical to that of the American Heritage Dictionary. The same developer makes both, and they simply load a different database into the same skin for these two dictionaries' separate apps. A nice feature of both the CED and AHD is the ability to export the definition to Anki flashcards, including the IPA transcription, a big help to EFL learners.

I paid the subscription but every time I try to download the offline file it never works as it keeps asking to download it again. Very poor. Will need a refund unless there is a fix.

You need more definitions for words used as nouns,adjectives, verbs, etc. I am disappointed in the cost. I expected more.

Very poor quality of the recorded pronunciation. Please make it like the web site.

Great addition to UB Reader. Now I can read all books in original language and don't waste my time searching for words in other program.

Not as good as WordWeb dictionaries. Does the job though as a backup.

Too many annoying suggestions, f.e. rate app, invite friends, etc.

It is very useful and convenient, especially because it offers you all the information about every word and not just the general definition as other dictionaries do,in addition,it opens pretty quickly

I think it's worth paying for a good downloadable dictionary. This was a comprehensive dictionary initially but now has increased functionality. Recent highlights include audible pronunciations.

Excellent "real English" dictionary (not just American). Authoritive text, well worth the money.

I want an offline dictionary can you sujest me

I have the older MSDict Viewer of the same Collins dictionary and now if I wanted the updated MSDict viewer for this same dictionary I have to paid full price again. Why wasn't this a free update to the original app like on iOS?

I've always had a copy of Collins Dictionary since I was in Primary school and my mother bought me a Collins Gem version, now having the full library on my phone and tablet is just perfect for me.
