About MobiPerf

MobiPerf is an open source application for measuring network performance on mobile platforms. You can measure your network's throughput and latency, as well as other useful network metrics. MobiPerf also performs measurements at regular intervals in the background.

The data is collected either anonymously or from your selected account, which allows you to see your own data here. The user credentials collected are not shared outside of this site, and any data used in research projects in universities are anonymized before use.

I think OpenSignal does a slightly neater job (they seem to have more relevant data), plus I couldn't get a UDP Burst (up) test to work, after multiple tries. Also slightly annoying that there has to be a notification (no way to make it run without displaying it). Not bad though, and I'll likely keep trying it out (if I had the time I'd directly contribute to the code with what annoyed/didn't work for me).

can't export system logs, or at least allow me to copy/paste the log. Or provide location of log file on device.

It would be really convenient to export system logs, or heck at least allow me to copy/paste the log. Where is the log file located on my device?

This is a great tool if you want to help collect network performance data on an ongoing basis.

Only the http/traceoute seem to produce results. The others always fail.

Y70%

Don't like the new and excessive permissions. App should ask for user-inputted identifying info to allow for individual opt-in or out as we see fit. Not updating until fixed or excessive permissions removed.

Didn't appear to work correctly on Android 2.2, sent the team an email on Friday 30/09/11, an update appeared in the Market on Saturday 01/10/11. Now works a treat on Android 2.2 A great tool and a great response from the development team to fix the bug.

Could live with access to sdcard. But why fine location and phone number? Let users give you that info. Worst of all: app requests root access!

This is indeed useful for not only debugging your network, but also understanding what your carrier is doing (blocking certain ports). Nice work!

Overall app is quite good, I like the 6hour test cycle but could not get the app to work at all if WiFi was turned off. HTC sensation xl, ics 4.0.4
