Sant. Madonna della Moretta

Probabilmente chi ha letto "Santuario della Moretta" ha pensato ad un'immagine di Madonna nera, come del resto ne esistono tanti sparsi nel nostro paese e nel mondo, ed invece niente di tutto ciò, ma soltanto il riferimento all'immagine da cui il pilone è stato ricopiato, immagine che esiste nel paese di Moretta, a nord di Savigliano e Saluzzo sempre in provincia di Cuneo.

Il Santuario di N.S. della Moretta si trova in Piemonte, alla periferia di Alba, cittadina a circa 60 chilometri da Torino, è all’inizio della statale che dalla città parte in direzione di Savona in fondo ad un bel viale alberato.
Sorto come pilone nel 1685 per opera di Giovanni Antonio Marengo all’incrocio della vecchia strada per Diano con quella per Savona, ricopia un pilone del paese di Moretta, da qui il nome di N.S. della Moretta. Voluto a protezione del bestiame e della terra, venne quasi subito inserito in una chiesetta che divenne meta di pellegrinaggi e di tanta devozione testimoniata dai numerosi ex-voto.

La Cappella, con l’annesso romitorio e fu acquistata nel 1901 dagli Oblati di san Giuseppe, un Istituto religioso fondato ad Asti nel 1878 da san Giuseppe Marello, poi Vescovo di Acqui e morto in giovane età. La presenza di una piccola comunità di religiosi incrementò la devozione alla Vergine e si sentì impellente il bisogno di costruire un nuovo e più capiente santuario. Il progetto, in un caratteristico stile bizantino unico nella zona, è opera dell’ing. Gualandi di Bologna. Iniziato nel 1905, il nuovo Santuario fu benedetto il 30 agosto 1908 e nel 1909 vi fu inserito l’originario Pilone.

Sulla cupola maggiore venne collocata una statua della Vergine, in rame dorato, realizzata con le offerte di circa diecimila bambini della Diocesi di Alba. Per questo N.S. della Moretta oltre che come protettrice delle campagne e del bestiame viene venerata anche come particolare protettrice dei bambini.
Nel 1935 fu realizzato il campanile, in stile con la chiesa che dal 1921 era stata eretta come parrocchia, punto di riferimento per tutto il quartiere che pian piano si è sviluppato intorno al santuario.

Devoto particolarmente illustre della Madonna della Moretta fu D. Alberione, fondatore della Famiglia Paolina, che davanti all’effigie di N.S. della Moretta ebbe l’ispirazione per l’opera che avrebbe poi avviato.
I numerosi ex-voto testimoniano un’intensa devozione popolare ed una particolare protezione della Vergine invocata oltre che per le campagne, per i bambini e per i militari.
Gli Oblati di S. Giuseppe continuano, nello spirito del loro Fondatore il loro servizio nel Santuario e nella Parrocchia con particolare attenzione ai giovani, aiutati in questo dalle Figlie di Maria Ausiliatrice che all’ombra del Santuario sono presenti ormai dal 1919.
Il Santuario ha le strutture indispensabili quel minimo di ospitalità diurna ai pellegrini che volessero fermarsi non solo per una celebrazione, ma che avessero anche bisogno di locali, che sono poi quelli dell'oratorio parrocchiale, ove poter consumare un pasto. The main cupola was placed a statue of the Virgin, gilded copper, made offers of about ten thousand children of the Diocese of Alba. For this N.S. the Moretta well as protector of the countryside and the cattle are revered as special protector of children.
In 1935 the bell tower was built, in style with the church that had been erected in 1921 as a parish, a reference point for the whole neighborhood that gradually grew around the shrine.
 
Devoto particularly illustrious Madonna della Moretta was D. Alberione, founder of the Pauline Family, which before the effigy of Our Lady Moretta was the inspiration for the work that would then start.
The numerous votive offerings testify intense popular devotion and special protection of the Virgin invoked only for campaigns, for children and for the military.
The Oblates of St. Joseph continues, in the spirit of their founder their service in the Sanctuary and in the Parish with particular attention to young people, aided in this by the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians who are now in the shadow of the Sanctuary since 1919.
The Sanctuary has the facilities needed that little bit of hospitality day that pilgrims could stop not only a celebration, but that they also need local, which are also those of the Parish, where to have a meal.
