MileIQ - Automatic Mileage Log for Android
I really like this app. Wish that there was a way to link trips. If I am stuck in traffic too long it counts as two legs of one trip. Still a great app. Follow up on my earlier review. Wish they would quit asking me to review MileIQ. But, using the website is much better than the app when classifying drives.
Just download the app and it does the rest. You can use it as is out of the box or you can configure certain settings. I've been using it for 6 months now and although I was a little disappointed at first because of a lack of features I wanted, they keep coming out with upgrades continually. It gets better and better. So far in 6 months it's earned me $5800. Not bad...
I love mile IQ!!it is so convenient. I am an Uber and lyft driver and this app makes taking my miles a breeze. I dont even have to remember to write them down every time, it keeps track for me while in the background on my phone and i can classify whether it was a personal or work trip when I get time at the end of the night. It is everything i need in an app so when tax time comes i can write down every mile i have driven. No more wiring about writing it down in a note pad. Thank you mile IQ!
If the app is running and Google maps is running Google Maps won't give you accurate directions half of one of my drives It thought I was in the water or a side street I enjoy the app and are willing to pay for it but hopefully somebody can help make the app better test GPS data with out mileiq running and it works fine
The ease of use is great in the free version, however the mileage recorded is not accurate. It can vary by over a mile when compared to my car's trip tracker. Tonight I drove from my house to a parking lot, and then from that parking lot right back home. The tracker recorded a difference of 1.3 miles between those drives when it couldn't have been more than a few yards difference. I'll be uninstalling and going back to tracking by hand.
It keeps saying it's a free app on the download page. But it's only free for 40rides pee month. After that it is $5.5 per month. And of course, you only learn this after you sign up and give your email and password. How convenient. 2 stars is actually too much for this kind of approach!
It does really well. I'm not one hundred percent sure on its accuracy as for as the miles driven, but it seems to be accurate. What sells it is the easy ability to keep up with travel and to categorize it. Very nice and should be used on the trial version to grasp how nice it is. Once you do, you will probably buy the thing.
If you can deduct miles for tax purposes, there is no better way than MileIQ. You can set your business hours and let the application identify and log your travel automatically, or swipe right / left to identify individual trips. I only used the application for four months in 2016 and I was able to deduct over $300 in travel reimbursements... Well more than the cost of the application.
I wasn't sure about it at first, but it has become my new best friend. I never was even close to good about keeping up with my mileage it was a real struggle but now it's so easy and simple. I am using the free app but will be upgrading on pay day. I drive constantly for work so this is great.
I've prepaid one year for this five days ago and it's already stopped twice in middle of drives then won't restart on its own. I drive a lot on business. When it works, it's great but... Give me a reason not to ask for my money back.
I'm sure this app is helpful to some people that drive for work, but not for me. I drive the same trips repeatedly but I still have to manually tell it what the purpose of the trip was. If I drive to x place I should be able to set it up so the app automatically knows it's for business. Likewise having to declare every trip to the supermarket personal is a pain.
Great idea. Very easy to use. Cost for the app is exorbitant. $60 renewed yearly seems much. Maybe $10, but $60? That said, the app itself is good. It's just not practical to stick with the free version unless you drive less than 40 trips a month. That sounds like a lot, but it's not 40 business trips, it's 40 trips of any kind. :-/
I've been using this app since I started driving for Uber and it is very easy to use it keeps track of all of my trip that I do. It has been extremely accurate overall what does occasionally have hiccups and has missed a trip here and there. Typically the missed trips are very short trips.
Limited location discrimination - if I go one day to location and label it, then next day go to place 2 blocks away, it insists it's the same place no matter what I do. If I add second name for the location, there is no way to select the alternate name so app just chooses one, without reason . To correct it I have to retype the correct name again, again and again!!!
I love this new Driver IQ app, it automatically senses when you begin to drive or ride your electric skateboard like in my case. And being able to stay on when you put it in the background and keep tracking you as long as the app is on. I also like the multiple driver option since I got two boards I like to keep up with the miles logged to see how much I've ridden each one although it just displays total miles for all combined trips on the home screen it seems but when you switch vehicles you get the info on that vehicle I think. Still learning but great app, especially since you never have to do anything except keep it running in the background. I want to see how many miles my boards will go before they need to be repaired or replaced.
MileIQ is great for keeping track of miles for me, as I am always forgetting to write mine down. Only thing I don't like is it detects when someone else drives by and then I have to classify that and use up my swipes. Otherwise, awesome!
Easy to use, mostly accurate. All I would say is I wish it had more functionality in the app like you can online such as moving points of needed. Saying that, I don't mind going online and checking or changing my drives once a month.
I need to more clearly see which drive I am logging if I run errands and stop several places after work. If it said from this address to that address, I'd know which drive I was categorizing. The basic app is great otherwise but I often have 4 or 5 drives to categorized. I don't know which is which without opening and studying the map trying to remember which was first.
A bit inaccurate. If you stop for fuel it can register that as a trip - a bit annoying. And it has missed one or two trips (believe this is to do with traveling just as I turn on my phone). But in the main it is very useful and over the course of a year I can live with the errors for the convenience.
Doesn't work. Very difficult to maneuver. Can't update information or make edits. Very frustrating. Supposed to be able to enter drives manually so when it didn't let me make edits I tried the manual add and that didn't work at all. Nice idea but would be better if it actually worked.
This is really a crippled trial version for a paid app and should be advertised as such! 40 drives limit is nothing if you cannot exclude certain trips. I drive to work every day and back, that's 40 drives a month. Plus grocery trips etc., none of which I'm interested in. I need to log the non standard client drives, but halfway through a month, I'd be out of quota. I'd be willing to pay $10 once, but not $60 per year. Tax saving are irrelevant, for what it provides, it's a ripoff. Uninstalled.
Updating my review. I could link the drives. Its prefect in joining the drives but mostly correct. I will use it for another couple of months and buy it. __ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Used it for travel from Detroit to Chicago. It registered 10 drives. Everytime I take a break it creates 1 drive. Gas fillings, restroom, traffic stops, toll stops are drives. I cannot classify them in one drive. Trying different app just put start and end.
I'd say add the ability to take notes later for tolls. This is especially needed for EZ pass users like me. Also let users review their past stoves in case of a mistake they forgot too fix before it's too late. Otherwise this is a great app.
I like this app. The only problem I have is sometimes it shows some off the wall place at some crazy hour that I've never been. And sometimes it doesn't even register that I went anywhere. Could have something to do with my phone though. Idk. 95% of the time it's a great app though.
Love this app. Fairly simple to use, but does occasionally make errors. One time, it showed my stopping point about a mile prior to where I actually stopped... And I don't know how to change that stopping point except to delete that entire trip & then re-enter it by hand. Wish I could have just edited the stopping point location.
I changed my review from 5 stars to 2 stars. After 3 weeks is starting to show wrong info! My stopped at locations are way off. How in 20 mins did I drive from HOME to Home in 30 miles?? Every location has been wrong in last few days. Very disappointing!! Why is it so difficult to find a good milage tracking app? They're all garbage! Sucks for someone like me who owns a mobile diesel repair biz.
It was so hard to remember to record mileage every single time I drove to get supplies or headed to a party. This is so much easier! Swipe left or swipe right. The only thing that doesn't work for me is that I actually work a full-time job & run my business on the side. I can't set my 8-4 work hours because the app thinks those are my business hours.... which they are not.
It is too annoying that every time I turn my car off that it gets recorded as a drive. A major improvement for someone who works part time would be if this app asked you if you wanted it to begin. Some days I Just don't. But it isn't valuable enough to me to pay the premium price.
The drive detection isn't the most accurate. If I sit at a light for for a decent length of time or go through a drive through and have to wait on the person in front of me it counts it as two drives and I can't combine them. Seems like the app interferes with Google maps' access to GPS because I randomly appear on different roads or 100 yds away from where I actually am.
CRAP! Business Mileage Does Not Include Commuting. This is never deductible because the IRS considers it to be a personal expense. Commuting occurs when you go from home to a permanent work location. So those using just to drive to work. to bad. you have to be a work driver or a personal bizz owner. Us norms can't use.
I like the app but it needs some work. It will almost always count every one of my drives as multiple drives which makes it confusing when classifying the drives later. It does this anytime I get stuck in traffic.
I downloaded this app knowing that I will be logging business miles this year. It amazes me to see how many miles I put on my car on a weekly basis. I don't always classify my drives right away, but this app is easy to use, so updating my info is never a problem. Thank you for it. Just wondering, though, why it was set up for only 40 drives per month. I had to get the unlimited version within the first two weeks.
This could be a great app BUT you can't control it. It tracks every ride. This is good for the app makers as you use up your # of allotted drives so you upgrade. However, I would never upgrade unless it gave me the option to simply track the drives I want/need to track. Most of my drives are personal not business but I do need a legitimate way to track business drives and no reason to track personal drives. Giving the user control would dramatically improve my rating which is barely 3 stars now.
The only thing I'll now is it tracks every trip, so you blow through the fifty trip limit of the free version really fast. Update a year later. I bought the full version. This tool really makes tracking travel for tax purposes so so easy.
If you're in outside sales, this is a good app. Every sales person needs tools, this is a descent mileage tool and very easy to use. Only thing is, if you use the referral discount to buy it, they won't apply it. If you have a problem with the app, there isn't a customer service phone number to call. They only want to reply through the app or email. I don't care how good something is, or isn't, when the only means of communication doesn't involve speaking to a human, I can't give it 5 stars.
Loved this app until most recent update and now it wants me to select an option to automatically put regular drives in a specific category. Option keeps popping up and not allowing me to enter details about my drives that are needed for tax time.
This app is great except every time there's an update it stops asking you to classify your drives until you open the app and click out of their "what's new" screen. This is a big pain as I am now 44 drives behind and have to go classify them based on my calendar appointments. Fix that and it would be 5 stars.
Very nice app. Like many others, because it counts EVERY trip as one of your 40 free, it becomes impractical quickly unless the majority of your trips are business. Not worth paying for me but I can easily see the value for others.
It had a nice layout and was a convenient idea, but it literally just would not cooperate with my S7. It would record drive time when I was sitting down and half the time wouldn't pick up that my GPS was on. It was incredibly frustrating to deal with entirely.

Beautiful user interface and automation, but mileage tracking is sometimes inaccurate or missing, and the map functionality is limited. Whether in app or dashboard, it only displays separate map images of the endpoints without any visual indication of the actual route driven. Also lacks aerial photography, sometimes making it difficult to identify locations visited. Requires manual entry of odometer readings, which negates much of the other benefits of automation.
