Girls' Choices for Careers

Girls’ Choices is a project that empowers girls to understand the decisions which affect their lives, by framing information on gender, leadership, education, and professional and personal development, in the context of their choice. Traditional methods of delivery of such information and empowerment models relies on face-to-face workshops and mentoring, which while valuable are limited by the number of girls which can be reached in-person. Delivered through a mobile application, Girls’ Choices, empowers girls to access the information they need to inform their personal and professional development, and understand the concept of the choices available to them


GWI is working with Orange Device Group and ATJ consulting to develop a mobile application that empowers girls to access information that will inspire them to complete secondary school and transition to tertiary education or professional work. The Girls’ Choices Mobile App will provide immediate, easy access to material empowering girls to explore possibilities in their lives beyond school. The app allows girls to challenge stereotypes and explore the career choices available to them, through fun and interactive questions and tasks.

This application on cell phone has been deployed in Rwanda. Other countries like Senegal, South Africa, Kenya, Mozambic, Ouganda, are in the Project roll out programm.
