About Hosts Spoofer

Hosts Spoofer is a mobile application that simulates a client-side internet ecosystem with a hosts file and a browser. The hosts file allows the user to override an IP address of a domain name. It is convenient when wanting to access computers or servers on a network where the public DNS record do not resolve to them.

Conventionally this is achieved by editing the hosts file on the client system but an android mobile device does not allow users to access or edit the system hosts file. But this is achieved here by setting the IP address in the application host file as the forward proxy for all the requests made to the specified host name.

Some of the styles for the test site were not loaded correctly. This would only be useful for testing content.

I downloaded this app to test a dev site out before pushing site updates to production and was sorely disappointed to find it did not work at all. __________________________________ The "hosts file" page of the app allows you to enter a hostname and an IP address-- both of which are completely ignored by the included web browser. __________________________________ The web browser is as bare-bones as it gets. You have a locked in place never moves or hides address bar and button on the bottom to get to the "hosts file;" That's it. No options whatsoever. __________________________________ This experience was from a stock, unrooted Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android 4.2.2. _____________________________________________ To the developer- I would be happy to help you troubleshoot these issues.
