About Beaming Service for Samsung

The Beaming Service, preinstalled by Samsung on your Samsung Galaxy device provides applications like Beep'nGo and others with access to the free barcode beaming feature built into these select new Samsung devices.

The Beaming Service enables your device to beam (relay) barcodes, as found on digital coupons, event tickets, library cards, loyalty cards and membership cards to 1D red laser and Image based scanners prevalent at nearly every retail store and checkout stand around the world. Use supported apps like Beep'nGo to upload your plastic loyalty, membership and gift cards directly to your supported Samsung device. These digital barcodes can then be shared from your device screen directly to handheld or flatbed scanners (checkout stands) found at your favorite stores.

Unless requested by an authorized application, this system lies dormant on the device and does not interrupt or hinder any other operation on the device.

Why do we need junk like this? With such bad ratings, why not just allow us to delete it from our phone? A lot of us don't like carrying around personal information in our phone. What would happen if our phone was stolen? A lot of people (my father for instance) don't use pin numbers or passwords to get into phones. All information would be stolen pronto, money lost, credit cards maxed out. Stupid app that is forced upon us.

U70%
by U####:

Let me Uninstall your crap Samsung. Why do you insist on pushing your crappy apps on us. This app is just one of many apps that i cannot Uninstall. It's very frustrating that we pay a premium for a phone and you just decide that we don't need the full use if our storage space by coding these apps so they cannot be removed. I just have to ask, WHY? You should give us money back or lower the price of your phone because you advertise i get 32 gigs which is a lie. Part of that storage is full of useless apps

P70%
by P####:

If you've installed beep n go so that your membership cards, credit cards etc are on your phone then this service comes into its own. Darn handy! If you don't know what its for - you shouldn't have an android phone :o)

U70%
by U####:

I read some of the negative reviews and, honestly, i have NO clue what they have to complain about. You don't HAVE TO get the app that comes with, and you can delete or ignore the update. I love it! It doesn't cost much storage space, nor does the Beam 'n' Go app. What's the point in carrying around (and/or forgetting to bring) your loyalty cards/gift cards etc. When you can have them ALL in ONE PLACE!!! Easy to use, very useful and on a device most people take everywhere.

Y70%
by Y####:

You ever get to a register, take out your phone, start to scan the card and it won't work? Thats because you don't have this app installed. The deal is, because you cannot see it working or have to open it on its own to get it to work doesn't mean its bloatware or any of that. It works behind the scenes with the barcode apps to basically oscillate the image at a level the scanner lasers can read it. Period. Unless you have this, your barcode apps won't work.

by H####:

Excellent Driver! Works well with "Beep'n Go". This Galaxy phone (mine is a Note5) actually emits a light to fool the bar code scanners in to thinking that they are shining the light on to a piece of paper with back lines printed on it. If you shine light on to a reflective surface like a phone; virtually all the light is reflected back no matter what picture is displayed. If you don't believe me either watch the video that samsung have produced or install the drive and app; and then cover the barcode when the shop assistant is scanning the phone. The barcode reader will still work!

U70%
by U####:

People should really read the description haha. It's a driver for barcode apps. Try looking up apps like beam n'go. In regards to this, I had no idea it even existed but better late than never! It's handy

U70%
by U####:

"Unless requested by an authorized application, this system lies dormant on the device and does not interrupt or hinder any other operation on the device." That's is straight up in the description it's used for the beep and go service which as a man who puts his wallet in his back pocket has found this service very valuable cause I no longer carry around loyalty cards. This DRIVER is ABSOLUTELY NOT intrusive in any way and is rather a great addition to my android device.

I do not want this app on my phone. The fact that I cannot get rid of it and pushing me to update or install every time I unistall it is in fact ridiculous. I do not want this app in my phone! It's useless and a battery drainer. Please fix this issue. Some people do not want this app and forcing it on us is not a great way for improving this app. Please take this in deep consideration because am on the edge of switching to a different phone period.

F70%
by F####:

Despite all the bad reviews from the people who don't understand it, I love it. I am able to take my grocery cards, Pharmacy cards, etcetera and scan them to their machines. I use it with the beep n Go app. If you want to carry around all those Loyalty cards or not use the apps , at least have the decency to not crap on this software. Some of us actually are happy to have this.

U70%
by U####:

Use the app to store all loyalty cards, librafy card, etc which have a barcode. They all can get scanned from the phone and I don't have to carry them anymore. Love it. Had similar apps before but they never worked, however the beaming service has made scanning barcodes possible.

D70%
by D####:

Here's to everyone saying if you didn't want it why did you buy the phone. We'll I've had my phone for over a year and don't put tons of apps on it but had to buy a memory card a few days ago cuz of all the things that Samsung is adding to my phone. As soon as it did the first update now that I have more space it put this app on my phone and I don't want or need it.

A70%
by A####:

This is by far the worst bloatware app that they have "given" us, far to many acces to all kind of data and settings I NEVER would dream of giving permission too, like I don't use any other apps that on install states theu want all these kind of access to my phone.. And I simply don't use these programs nor do I intend too.. So yet again "Thanks" Samsung and Mobeam for pushing me to jailbreaking my Samsung and throw away the warranty

Q70%
by Q####:

I have no use for this app. It's not helpful to me at all. So there is no sense in updating it, especially since it won't affect any of my other apps. Just would be nice if it could be turned off. I just "love" how these companies think they know what is best for everyone. I refuse to store any of my cards on my phone, it's not safe to store your account information on an electronic device.

U70%
by U####:

Great app barcodes scan every time. Its the little things like this is why I keep going back to Samsung. If it wasn't for this app being in the play store you would have to update android every time there is an update for it. Which would be much more annoying, so every one stop moaning about it.

X70%
by X####:

I've used the search function, gone under a list of all installed programs, even went to where to Install in App store. I can't find it yet it's I stalled on my phone. App Store says "Uninstall" but no "Open" button, it's not in my Apps list. It's just taking up space. Waste of an install.

A70%
by A####:

When I ask my device "open Beaming service for samsung" , it answers that it's NOT installed ! Google Play Store shows that it's in my device. This "technology" is making a full of me :-( I would like to use the beaming service unless it's fixed. And 100 million downloads ! Against the will of the galaxy's users!

When u noticed the app in my updates I clicked on it and it said update so I updated it and I went to reading the description and realized how pointless this app was for me anyway after the update was finished and installed I went back to the title screen and it said Uninstall where it usually says open so I am Uninstalling this useless app. So have a great day.

U70%
by U####:

Glad to see Samsung updating internal software independently of needing to wait for the next full OS update through the carrier. For those not understanding, this is not exactly an app in itself, it's an update to the already existing software that allows other apps to interact with the proximity sensor LED on the front of the phone to "beam" barcode data if an app offers that feature. The most commonly used app to use this feature is Beep'nGo for membership/loyalty cards; but other apps use the hardware as well. It's no different than having software drivers on your laptop that allows programs/apps to work with the built-in hardware.

U70%
by U####:

First, if you guys dont want this on your phone, there's an uninstall button at the top of the page. Use it, take your phone back to the dial tone stone age and shut up. For those who actually take the time to read, this is very nice to have. I've placed quite a few membership cards on here already and they scan just as well as the card itself. Just in case you forget it or lend it to someone else you always have access to it. Must have.

U70%
by U####:

Bloatware. Why the hate? Memory is limited. This wastes memory. If it COULD be uninstalled, there would be no hate. Those simple-minded sheep defending bloat should get an extra helping of spam and junk mail. It lies dormant like a cancer waiting to strike.

F70%
by F####:

To me its just another point of failure. I don't want this, will NEVER use it. Let me remove. I like many apps but I'm still going to give them 1 star for not giving me the option to remove. 3/4 of preloaded apps I WILL NEVER USE. Bloatware is phone cancer and I will cut you out. Thanks for forcing me to void my warranty by getting root and custom rom. YOU WILL BE REMOVED.

Very Impressive + Reliable. works w/ Beep 'n Go everytime. can't say enough about this brilliant use of mobile technology. i always get a kick out of the sheer shock on the faces of some cashiers right after they tried to convince me that cell phone screens won't scan on their readers. then they always ask how i did that. i tell 'em "it's magic" (while doing jazz fingers)

U70%
by U####:

Used with Mobeam's Beep'nGo to store your barcoded membership cards, this combination always surprises employees at Bestbuy who swear their barcode readers won't read a barcode off a phone screen. Beaming Service shines the barcode into their reader using the phone's IR blaster. Very clever.

U70%
by U####:

I don't own any loyalty cards, so I do not have any use for this app. It's on my phone, I can't disable it, I can't uninstall it; fine! But I am getting increasingly annnoyed with how it it CONSTANTLY popping to remind me to use it at all hours of the morning, noon and night using my text message notification... "[Bing bong] Beaming Service is ready" Don't care [Close] "[Bing bong] Beaming Service is ready" I don't want to use you [Close] "[Bing bong] Beaming Service is ready" Stop reminding me, go away [

Everyone this is a service. Without this service other apps would not be able to beam you. If you don't want to be able to use your Samsung device to instantaneously travel to anywhere is this universe (apparently they are trying to add other universes, should come out in a new update), then don't get a Samsung Phone.

U70%
by U####:

So glad to have an app to capture my loyalty cards and the beaming works in businesses where the clerk is doubtful because OTHER apps fall short. The low ratings are due to this app being installed on new phones, and I understand that. I hate bloatware too, but the APP is AWESOME.

U70%
by U####:

Samsung has this crappie app install itself with no use or permission from me. It's a useless piece of crap wast of space that has basically permission to use everything on my phone and can run up my bill. I wish this crap could be permanently removed! !! UPDATE. ...Twice a day this force downloads itself on my phone! F*** you!

U70%
by U####:

People if you don't want automatic updates to your phone DISABLE AUTOMATIC UPDATE! GEEEZ! You'll be notified when updates are available and YOU DECIDE if you want them installed. ALL THIS WHINING...and there are options. WAKEUP learn to use your phones. All these comments complaining are too freakin funny. I've been using KeyRing App for some time and this DRIVER will just work with the APP. IT'S A DRIVER...NOT AN APP! LMAO!

A70%
by A####:

The amount of stupid in the comments scares me. Quit complaining you idiots! You need this for other apps to work. Think of it as a driver. Besides, would you prefer to have to update your entire Android instalation just for 1 app every single time?

U70%
by U####:

This does nothing on its own, it requires an app to run. Or I can install a few competitors apps, which do not require this service, and can work on all phones. If I want an app to display member card barcodes, I'm going to research and pick the best app for the purpose, not whatever one uses some service on my phone just cause it's there. Please let me remove this junk.

U70%
by U####:

Learn to read. It's not rocket science. If you don't like the the apps don't buy the phone! Most companies give a 14 day trial and if not happy you return it. The app is pretty small, works and is helpful to almost every body. You can't uninstall it, it's part of the package. Easy fix buy a different phone. You bought it and don't like it? Return it. Your 1 in millions, They care "NOT" neither would I. But you without a life keep complaining. But all cells have apps u wont like get over it!

U70%
by U####:

I think if someone wants this app then go and download it. But if you do not want it then it should not be forced onto you. I read somewhere that Samsung was facing legal action in china about too much bloatware. Why can we not charge samsung for using up our memory and battery on our phones if we do not want the app we should be able to delete it. I will never buy samsung again.

U70%
by U####:

It is especially good as it is used for QR code users and makers (like me) and websites and barcodes I need, can be scanned using this service. Good idea Samsung! Just don't understand these people who give you bad reviews.

U70%
by U####:

What's wrong with you people? If you don't want bloatware on your phone, go to Google and type in, getting rid of bloatware, and the model of your phone. It's super easy to do through your computer that takes off absolutely all of T-Mobiles bloatware. Phone runs faster. The software I use is called, DeBloater.

Another unasked for app. I don't care if it is the best thing since sliced bread, I didn't ask for it and want to have it uninstalled. I have limited space left on my phone and would like to choose which apps I have

U70%
by U####:

Most stupid people rates it as 1 and then states that they need to root their phone to stop the auto update.. That is Google Play Store has a Disable Auto Update when connected to WiFi feature that can be found in the Settings.. That is why WE have a Disable App feature in our Phone's settings.. Use your head sometimes and not your mouth.. the rate is getting low due to your nonsense 1* rates.. It is you that have a problem and not this app

U70%
by U####:

Android OS was founded as a free free marketplace platform, meaning that anyone can make any app and users had greater freedom and control over their devices. I have had more apps, which I can only describe as "integrated malware" on my GS7 than I can count and I can't uninstall or even disable them. I will never buy a Samsung phone again and I'm going to root this one as soon as I figure out how. Shame on you!
