When I first bought the bulb I really wanted to like it. I've used other misfit products and I've been happy with them. The bolt didn't require a hub like the Hue system, so for a single room it was a better choice. When we first got it, the connectivity was half reliable. After a couple months and/or updates, it simply stopped connecting to any phone in my house (we have about 7 different Android devices). There's simply no way to connect to the bulb now. Not ready for consumers at all.

J70%
by J####:

Still after over a year and multiple updates, the connectivity is poor, possibly worse. It has never once automatically connected to my phone and I always need to manually find the bulb. Now 2 androids in my home cannot connect to 2 different bulbs. Same response from misfit team "we have our engineers on it" but they never come close to making the app good. Shame because I love the bulb.

F70%
by F####:

I have many of the same issues as other users. The bulb won't won't stay connected to blue tooth no matter how close I am to it; the sunrise feature doesn't work so I have to use an alarm clock; and the light seems to turn off and on and adjust brightness on its own

N70%
by N####:

The app barely has any capabilities, you can't tell which light is which when you're making rooms, the lights bluetooth disconnects every ten seconds. Honestly, I'm surprised they get away with selling this crap

T70%
by T####:

I've had 3 bolts for a year and have to refresh them in the app every time I want to change a scene; they constantly lose connection. The bulbs also don't work with IFTTT or any smart home system. And there's been no apparent development since Misfit was acquired by Fossil, only doubling down on fitness trackers.

C70%
by C####:

I have more than one bulb. The app will work switching between rooms for a week or so and then it loses its ability to switch between bulbs. I have to uninstall and reinstall to get that feature back. Too time consuming.

F70%
by F####:

Needs to have more pre-made lighting options. When you leave the house, u need to be right next to it to reconnect again, makes it kind of a pain when you have more then one, especially when they are located in different rooms.

T70%
by T####:

Almost never works. If on the off chance I can connect to it using Bluetooth it just reverts back to a different color setting than the one I set it to in a matter of minutes. Almost never connects with Bluetooth, even after I reset the Bluetooth on my phone, turned the bulb off and on, unscrewed the bulb and restarted my phone. The light is really nice, but when it never works with my phone, its pretty useless. It's just a very frustrating app and light all together.

by S####:

The app Is Really Bad. It function fair with 1 bulb but with more than 1 it really fails. Not easy to function properly and doesn't stay synced up continues to loose connection can't go more than a few feet away from the bulb and you have to reconnect. Not enough room here to list everything. Very disappointed because I liked the idea of controlling multiple bulbs from the application. Please go back and redo the app.

T70%
by T####:

I paid nearly $60 for this bulb at Best Buy. And the app experience doesn't match the price. First of all, the Bluetooth connection keeps timing out. Second of all, you need that you need the app to pair the bulb you can't pair it natively in the settings. It's like you people don't care about the bulb. No surprise, because the app hasn't been updated since March of LAST YEAR!

N70%
by N####:

App no longer recognizes the two bolts that I have, tried repairing and had the same issue. Until the app gets updated I'll just have two regular expensive light bulbs.

The misfit app only works if you log in (email or facebook). I had setup an email login, but forgot the password. The "forgot password" button doesn't work (never received their reset password email), and the login via Facebook doesn't work. As a result, the app is useless because i can't control my lightbulb. I shouldn't have to log in to misfits servers to control a lightbulb in my own house. What is the possible justification for such a design? The whole thing is completely broken when i can't log in. It's terrible design, and I'm saying that not only as a user, but also as someone who is a software developer.

T70%

App constantly loses contact with bulb. On-app remedy is non-sensical. Very frustrating!

T70%
by T####:

Sometimes it takes a while to connect, but its usually less than 20 seconds. Overall it works pretty consistently on my galaxy s7 edge. Decent features as well with the colors.

F70%
by F####:

The bulb & app itself is pretty cool with some nice pre-built settings/moods as well as they ability to make your own mood with a photo. I really like the sunrise alarm, but I hate that I have to set it every night before bed rather than it just remember my wake time. Sometimes when the sunrise alarms set the light will randomly turn on in the middle of the night - it wakes me up & is incredibly annoying. I also find it annoying that the bolt/app does not automatically connect with android but does with iOS

T70%
by T####:

Sun rise can't set day in the week. I want it turn on during weekday, but not on weekend, but it doesn't have the option. Often lost connection with the bulbs.

T70%
by T####:

Connecting is terrible and isn't reliable. I really want to like this product but having to connect constantly even when my phone is right next to the bolt is awful. This experience has made me avoid other misfit products even though they appeal to me.

T70%
by T####:

The simulated sun rise helps wake me up, connects quickly to Bluetooth, would like to see a rain type scene with flicking lighting here and there if it's possible.

T70%
by T####:

Never connects. Some times I will spend about 30 minutes trying to get it to work before I finally give up.

Great app color options. It does have some flaws.

Won't finish installing after attempting to connect to facebook, even though connect shows as successful.

just bought 3 bulbs.TERRIBLE app.. wont even let me create a account.. Worst purchase ever.

T70%
by T####:

I'm very disappointed that I need to create an account and sign in order to use the app.

T70%

I have been using this app for a few yrs. It never connects and everytime I try changing the last saved color it becomes a headache. The app is also hardly ever updated. Grrr.

Me and my boyfriend both need to be able to control the lamp... It sucks that if he is connected to the lamp and is in the living room, I have to ask him to change the bulb setting for the bulb in our room. It would be better if two or more users could connect at once... So I don't have to ask him to turn off his Bluetooth so I can turn off the lamp.

I got the misfit for my bday so I have no idea what it cost but I do know that it has spoiled me. I love natural light and hate turning on regular fluorescent lights, so when it rains I love using the forest setting and using the sunset setting at dusk. But it is kinda annoying when the lights randomly turn on at 2am when I'm sleep. It would also be nice if the Bluetooth range was a bit longer. Minor grievances, overall a good product.

D70%
by D####:

I have to refresh my bulbs in the app each time I want to change the lights over the course of a day. Sometimes, they turn on while I'm sleeping or up after I've dimmed them for a movie. The bulbs also don't work with Ifttt or any smart home system, which is disappointing. I worry Misfit will stop development, especially after being acquired by Fossil and focusing on the fitness trackers.

V70%
by V####:

I've used my bolt bulb off and on for a while now to help wake me up for early shifts. Most recently It requires me to turn on location services to use it rather than just using Bluetooth. This is incredibly annoying since the location drains battery so much faster

D70%
by D####:

I have had this for a while now. Since new update the lamp always comes back on after I turn it off. Please fix.

M70%
by M####:

Works well most of the time. Unfortunately after 5-10 minutes it seems to lose connectivity to the bulb and I have to refresh which can take up to 30 seconds. Also the lightbeat doesn't seem to work with Spotify which is all I use. Other than that works fine. Probably wouldn't spend the money on another one with the issues I listed.

Update: The improved version of this app is what I was expecting from the start. The "Wake to Sunrise" now works wonderfully (just be sure to set the light's brightness slider all the way to the left (off) when setting up this feature). I also really like the ability to set the color and intensity of lighting for any mood or event. I even use one of the lights on my back patio where I setup my telescope. On those nights I use a deep red color and can adjust the brightness as needed.

D70%
by D####:

Even after months of updates still have difficulties connecting to the bulbs. Unscrewing and rescrewing the bulbs have become commonplace action for me

D70%
by D####:

Always having issues with connection. Sad considering the price. Constantly have to get up and reset the bulb which definitely defeats the purpose.

G70%
by G####:

The sunrise wakeup only seems to work sporadically

D70%
by D####:

what it does works fine, and looks nice, but it's still missing the feature to turn on when a specific Bluetooth device is in range and turn off when it's not

U70%
by U####:

Wake-up sunrises, music beat syncing, connection to wearables. Everything works great. I do wish I could have more control over light show sequences though.

O70%
by O####:

Very good quality product dose everything it promises thus far. Now to see if it last 20 years? Hummm?

L70%
by L####:

On Bolt, custom light shows seem to default to rainbow after going through a few cycles of the custom colors, and few preset light shows to choose from. Other than those two things it works great.

D70%
by D####:

it's be nice to be able to have more distance between my phone and any bolt.. so much for eventually replacing ceiling can bulbs with bolts until the range is better.

D70%
by D####:

Worse than I thought originally.
