Turn your phone or tablet into a musical instrument! RD4 - Groovebox is a music making app with virtual analog synthesizers, drum machines and effects.
Compose and arrange your music in real-time. Choose instruments individually for the 4 channels. Record live or set notes with the dedicated sequencer or piano roll of each instrument.

This multi-touch enabled app makes it simple to invent unique loops and musical phrases. Manipulate the sound of the synthesizers by tweaking the oscillators, resonant filters and audio envelopes. Add audio effects like reverb, distortion, phaser, filter and delay to your sounds.
Appropriate both for experienced musicians and beginners.
Loops you've created and exported with RD4 can also be automatically integrated into mikrosonic's audio mixer app SPC - Music Sketchpad.

Mixer:

Choose between two virtual analog synthesizers and the drum machine for each channel:
Analog
- Modeled after legendary monophonic synths of the '70s
- For fat sounding bass and powerful lead sounds
- 3 oscillators with 6 different waveforms
- Each oscillator can be tuned precisely and has a warmth control for the typical analog sound
- Attack, Decay, Sustain and Release envelope generator
- Pitch wheel
- Low-pass filter (24dB/oct, 4-pole) with knobs for cutoff, resonance and an ADSR envelope generator
- Recording of played notes in real-time (depending on devices capabilities)
- Piano roll for editing recorded notes comfortably
- Or compose by drawing notes directly with the piano roll in 1/16 or 1/32 resolution
- Piano roll editing features: Transpose Pattern, Shift Sequence and Quantize Pattern

I really enjoy playing with this app. Very simple and intuitive. It's like having a setup that includes a combination of drum machines and 303s. The analog synths are a little bit of a let down, but it is only $5.

It was Ok last time. Now it automatically generates sound when you are recording. Maybe, Maybe not? Problems with it in Analog 1 & 2. I still like playing with it cause you can make music, but has problems. Take the chance of messed up music. Thank you.

As someone who uses tangible gear this is a simple little APP. I'm using it on a tablet and i'd imagine it would be a pain to use on a phone. Most of the sound generated is flat which is convenient if you plan on mixing into a real soundboard later for recording. I prefer apps due to their price range as well as their simplicity. If you want to cut your teeth into something that's daw like this is a good intro without breaking the bank and getting super frustrated.

This could be soooo much more had they just added a sound bank. It's not asking for much is it? I've paid good money to get stuck with the same sound that I can add effects to.. Well big whoop!! There's no point if I can't vary my sounds is it! Thoroughly disappointed, I wish there was a way to get a refund on these app selling things. Update on 7/3/15 (3/7/15 for the Americans) THIS IS SUCH A TERRIBLE APP. IT WON'T ALLOW YOU TO EVEN ADD TWO LAYERS OF MUSIC ON THE SAME LOOP. DON'T WASTE YOU MONEY AS I HAVE

It was the TB303 emulation that drew me to this app. And it also has great emulations of the famous TR X0X drum machines also from Roland Corp. Great for catching ideas when you're not in a studio.

I just plug it into the third channel of my mixer and I always have a beat to build my sets around. Having a 303-esque bass and a few keys is an added bonus

Exporting loops is excellent for exporting to SPC. Wishlist: #1 while I can use the beats- or baseline-track to emulate a metronome, a dedicated one would be great #2 MIDI overvIP (rtpMIDI e.g.) would be great.

Had the demo version on my phone/pad for a while now. Decided to pay the fee and go for the full version. Money well spent!! As a massive fan of the 303 sound, this is the best app available in my opinion. Can't wait to explore it further.

RD4 Groovebox This app is BOSS! I recommend it to anyone looking for a great rhythm sequencer machine. I would like a distortion fx but you can do that with the envelope filter. However it still does a fantastic job and is well worth its very affordable price.
