Spirit1: Real FM Radio for Android
I was really excited about this app until my phone updated to lollipop and it stopped working. When will this app work on this new processor?
Stock ROM and Android 4.4.4. You have to turn OK Google for Any Screen off or you won't get audio. Haven't messed with it enough to figure out why.
I have purchased and don't work on my OnePlus one with lineageOS (nougat 7.1.1). Could you please advice how to make it works? I need it. Thanks.
was not able to use it on any device.
I had tried this long ago with a Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 that came with fm radio out of the box, but I changed roms and wanted fm back. The kernel I had was supposed to work with fm radio, but I was never able to get this app to work. Thanks for the work, I know this helps a lot of people. I just tried this with my OnePlus 3 and can confirm that it does NOT work.
AMAZING. I got this for my old HTC Thunderbolt because the stock app doesn't let you output through the speakers. Turned my old brick of a phone into an awesome free FM radio. No more wifi streaming for me ! Thank you :D
Just bought this, didn't work on my 1st Gen Moto G 8GB and I STILL LOVE IT! I don't think everyone understands how important it is to maintain OTA FM Radio on these devices with their gizmo wonderment but most of them don't have a traditional terrestrial radio. That's nonsense! These are the greatest mobile devices ever created and I can't put my headphones in and pick up a a local ballgame? Some things don't need to change because they F*&^%N Work! Know what I'm saying? I still can't believe FM Radio on many devices is shunned and suppressed for marketing, strategic technology advancement and the money that comes from such new products, hence Apple Radio. I REALLY like Apple but I'm not paying them to listen to radio. The fact that a developer had the spine to really make this app happen just makes me smile. Haven't even thought about the app not working. I'm sure I can get some tips to make this app work on my Moto G from the developer but honestly the money is more than worth it to support something so important.
Android upgrade kills this app. But they did warn, so no Stat loss. But it would be nice.
Glad to find this! HTC One M7, old Sprint phone, now I have a good FM tuner for listening to local FM stations. Very useful, especially in an emergency. Intuitive interface, good strong reception with the headphones plugged in. Thanks Mike! Glad to pay a few bucks for a great app, please keep this updated.
Thanks man! I thought that I would never be able to hear radio again on my GT-I9070 with CM 11 :D
Refund please!
Worked great on kitkat. Please provide update/fix for lollipop or issue refunds.
I will uninstall it now.
doesn’t work

Does not work. Galaxy s2 CM13
I've been very loyal to my T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide but I finally needed to get on a more recent OS so I flashed CM9.1 and lost access to the FM radio that I used to get through the old HTC Sense ROM. When I initially downloaded Spirit it gave me some trouble but I reached out and got great help and was eventually able to get it working. If you want real actual FM and your hardware and OS support it, this is what you've been looking for.
Works great. Rooting was a bit of a pain to get everything sorted out for my Droid 4, but now it is very cool to have FM access.
I didn't find my radio in my brand new non rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 4. I bought this for an older product (rooted Samsung Galaxy Note 1,worked flawlessly). I thought that reinstalling the application in the new one would get me radio again. After reading your explanation know that the device is no meant to have radio in the first place, don't know why, but a little disappointed with the phone now :S
Only issue is that it will not play out Bluetooth on this device.
It not work.
daer mike. it would be great if you could mention this is not supporte on lilipop on the description. i loast my money buying a software that dosent work and would like to avoid it for other users. i find it a tad bit unprofessional duping us lollipop users.
Need to disable "OK Google" detection on any screen for this app to work. Other than that, it works excellent on Sony Xperia Z3v (Verizon).
Just recently got this phone after having a Nokia 822 which, Verizon had added fm with the 8.1 update. That was so good even though you have to use wired ear phones for antenna but, saved on data usage as well as not losing the feed which, you often do with streaming. Now this app makes my phone great.
Works as stated on Verizon Sony Z3v. Kudos to developer.
I can't find the way to record any fm broadcast. Settings for recording are missing!!
Worst 9 bucks I've ever spent. This dude needs to get sued for this.
Ne fonctionne plus sur mon sgs2 i9100 en cm12.1. Message d'erreur: No Fm accessible SU:2 Fm:BC2 Su:1 Bt:0 Ht:0

I recently bought the M8 and was little dissapointed to see there were no FM app. After some googling I came across Spirit1 and I bought it. It is not working. From what I see even Spirit 2 will not work!? Is rooting my only option? If I do root, do I need to purchase Spirit2 or Spirit1 still work? Also, I am very new to Android - about a week. So any pointer on the best/safest way to root would be appreciated. Regardless, I am giving the app a 5 stars because of the time and effort invested by the
HTC One M8, rooted, SlimRom build 8.0, KitKat 4.4.4 I tried your Spirit2 apk to test it and just paid almost $10 for Spirit1 (because I could not test it)... Neither output to the speakers, just the headphones. Can this be fixed? If not, I would like to request a refund. The free FM app that comes with most CM-based ROMs output to the speakers just fine so I know it is not my phone. Thank you
I was really excited about this app until my phone updated to lollipop and it stopped working. When will this app work on this new processor?
WExcellent radio on xperia Z1 compact. The tuner is now so sensitive that it often brings in local stations without using headphones as a ntennas. Sound quality better than the Sony standard one supplied One query.... One version allowed me to record. But later updates seem to have removed this.
Google Play says that this app would be compatible with my device, but, even though the app runs great on my VZW HTC One m9, all I get is static. After further internet research, it seems that Verizon Wireless may have totally removed the FM capability of my smartphone, not just disabled it; hence, the static. Any assistance that anyone can offer would be appreciated. I would rather get this working then seek a refund, since the app seems solid and fills an important need.
Mike, you´re the man! I have rooted my S3 and lost fm tuner. Now I have it back thanks to people like you. Keep up to the hard work.
I paid the money for this so I could use it at an important event, and when I went to use it, it didn't work at all. Later I saw that it isn't compatible with lollipop. Why didn't they tell me that before so that I could have purchased the app that would actually work for my phone?! Very unhappy about this because I don't usually ever buy apps, and the one time I did, I basically threw my money in the trash.
works on droid 4 using cm 12! but must set Linux mode to permissive!
The Z3v didn't come with any kind of fm tuner so I found this gem through some online research. Works great with headphones as antenna but will still pick up a few channels without them. The Z3v will be updating to android 5.0 at some point so Please try to make Spirit2 work with the android 5.0 on the z3v if possible.
Works well with z3v, excellent sound quality also. Just needs a nicer widget shortcut.

It works well with my Lenovo A6000 good clear sound. Thanks Mike
