About OneNote

CREATE YOUR WAY
Type, hand write, draw, and clip things from the web to get down your thoughts into your notebook. Use OneNote's flexible canvas to place content anywhere you want. You can even scan hand written notes or pages straight into OneNote then make them searchable.

GET ORGANIZED
OneNote is set up like a notebook to bring the familiar physical 3-ring binder to the digital era. Easily use sections and pages to separate out thoughts by theme at school, home or work. Not sure where you categorized something? Use our powerful search to look across all of your notebooks or just the page you're on to find what you're looking for, even words on pages you scanned into your notes. You can use tags to label to-do lists, follow up items, mark what's important or make custom labels. Use OneNote as a notebook, journal or a notepad. Organize in one place, from anyplace.

COLLABORATE WITH ANYONE
Share your notebook with whomever you want, such as your colleagues or family, and work on your projects together. OneNote syncs your notes across all devices and lets multiple people work on the content together, at the same time. Leave comments or tags to people to ask follow up questions, draw up your ideas, plan and journal the family vacation or check off the to-do list.

ACCOMPLISH MORE AT WORK
OneNote is great on your own or when you share with a team. Use it as a notepad for team meetings, brainstorming projects, draw attention to important points or organize key resources to never lose track of what you need. Work together in real time to stay in sync and on the same page. You can log in with 2 accounts at the same time to seamlessly move from work to personal and back. OneNote is available across your favorite devices, no matter what your team likes to use --Android, Apple or Windows-- you can still work together to get more done.

ACHIEVE MORE IN SCHOOL
OneNote is great for school for both students and teachers. Take your notes during class with ease, mixing in text, ink, and web clippings. Use OneNote to organize your brainstorms, draw mind maps and develop your ideas for your next school assignment. As a teacher, plan your lessons and have all the information you need right in your pocket and on the go.

BETTER TOGETHER WITH OFFICE
OneNote is part of the Office family and works great with your favorite apps, such as Excel or Word to help you do more.

NOTES AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT
Use the OneNote badge as a notepad to list your thoughts down no matter when something crosses your mind. The badge hovers on screen and lets you quickly write your thoughts down during a phone call, while on the web or wherever else your mind takes you. In addition to the badge you can launch OneNote from a home screen widget or pin a notebook or page straight to the home screen helping you dive in faster, right where you want.

When it opens up I can't find what to do. It tries to organise your thoughts before you have even thought them. Evernote was much easier to use. Then when I put them in Folders these don't seem to appear on other devices. I think you made it too sophisticated and you should remove some of the "Whistles" and just leave the "Bells". The clever stuff can be done by importing the Notes into another application later.

I'm used to the full version of OneNote and I'm not expecting that with this app. What I do expect us to be able to increase font size, which doesn't seem to be an option. Additionally, selecting text is horrible. Dbl-tapping sometimes brings up start/end markers but if they aren't obscured by the context menu, they either react poorly or deselect themselves. The thing that sucks is that it seems I'm forced to use it. On my PC there is browser support but no such luck on Chrome for Android.

Great for storing all my lists that I don't want to deal with straight away. Take pics and phone screenshots and easily paste them into pages for looking at later. Can have a page of writing or a page of mixed photos and so quick to add information. Also syncs perfectly with my android phone. Love the notebook formats with sections and subpages. Organises work, personal and my various course lists to do perfectly. Would find it slightly time consuming to make things look nice. However like anything, use it often enough and it'll be very simple. Finally another review talks about lack of password protection. Which may or may not be true for the whole notebook but you can password protect 'sections' very easily.

It's just so neutered. Every 6 months or so I come back to Onenote on Android because I use Onenote as a digital notebook in my lab, but the updates are always superficial and rarely add functionality. We use it on Windows tablets, but for simplicity and maintenance I desperately want to use it on tablets like the Samsung S3. But MS just doesnt add the power user functionality, its too simple. The problem I have with Onenote on Android is that the functionality is sooo limited compared to the Windows version. It doesnt recognize the button on S-Pens, and we need to able to define page sizes, change the eraser functionality from stroke erase, set default layouts, etc. Please Microsoft just add more fine control options and bring the in app options up to parity with Windows version.

-- UPDATE: Seems like there is a bug when syncing larger changes when WITHIN a notebook. If I go inside a notebook and try and sync it, for large changes, like images and handwriting, it never finishes syncing, and doesn't seem to push any changes to the servers. -> The solution for that I've found, is to shut down the app (from the recently used apps) then open it, when in the Recent Notes section go back ONCE to all the notebooks and sync all. The sync will actually finish successfully this time, and other clients will be able to sync the notebook. Good app, definitely the best for notes. Would be good to have some improvements for the stylus functionality, a lot of the features available in the PC versions are not present here, like selection of region. This makes it impossible to move text on the Android version.

I don't think that I'm using One Note to its full capacity. Although, my experience so far has been great. The sync feature works very well, the UI is beautiful and I find it immediately intuitive as is designed as a real folder might be organized.

D70%
by D####:

MS Onenote by far the most powerful and feature rich notes app! Will take Google Keep and Evernote many moons to catch up....UI is much faster now and the sync also is faster. Pl add error free sync in the background without me having to open the app... Also sync with Outlook Notes and Windows 10 sticky notes

Used to hate this app. It's improved greatly. I love the new pen writing tools, they work great with the Galaxy Note s pens. Also love how the interface is very similar to the desktop app. They finally added support for password protected sections like the ios app! Also they responded to my bug issues promptly. Go new MSFT

I70%
by I####:

I want to love this app, I really do. I'm using it with my Surface Pro 4 and the two star deficit is because 1) there's no convert to text option in the 360 version on Windows and 2) the sync is buggy when it really should be the most basic 100% working feature of this application.

D70%
by D####:

Taking Me time to learn the best way to use it to organize my notes. But syncing everywhere is key for me. Very valuable. And when there are conflicts nothing gets lost (right?) I just resolve them on a desktop... :-)

K70%
by K####:

It is useful for sync ideas between different platforms. Easy to use and navigate and a great relief not to have to deal with limitations with regard to the number of uploads per day...let alone on a monthly basis. Great for extensive note takers. Would love the ability to change the colors of the tabs

G70%
by G####:

Lacks features that allow me to move things on the page around. Need better pdf exporting. Right now it exports a page into one single long page in pdf. Being able to automatically split the pages so that I can print them out on letter sized paper would be nice. Handwriting is not perfect but still great.

D70%
by D####:

Though all requred functionalities are there, the ease of usage of apps like color note, google keep, wunderlist is missing. Somehow, onenote communicates a feeling that this is not for me or it is that easy. If it does not create such a feeling and if it is made more user friendly, easier to use, it definitely will become a most popular and widely used app.

This app is for For The Clutter Minded and Organization Freaks to get off on in the right way... Don't be like me and start jotting stuff without trying to understand the ecosystem.. Why you may ask?? Because instead of having multi notebooks with sections and chapters to separate things I have everything under one Notebook, one section with several notes that have exposition everywhere to now be copied and pasted into respective areas in tedious.... Don't be like me in other words.. Take full advantage of what things are offered at the same time the Dev team has to do a little bit more hand holding (with the option to skip or go back to a segment to learn).... The first thing it gives you access to is the ability to draw, so I'm making notes out like a cave man only to find out by accident that the pull tab allows you to actually type with organization of a Power Point.... Made me livid, but it's to good to rage quit... Hopefully they have and or will have a more informative patch... Again over all the best way to keep notes especially with the little messenger like icon that expands to either to dump copied information or type out new as well as pics... I know it said short, but this app deserves more than a "It's Good".

Great note making tool, now it has the ability to take clips from webs and other apps, and it can manage images and text in a smart way. Only reason it's not 5* is because there's no way to move the storage location to external, so it eats up a big chunk of internal storage.

B70%

Hey Microsoft Corporation, can you enable users to arrange sections, notes, as well as colors on our phones instead of computers only. If this update could be achieved I would give 5 stars. Thanks!

G70%
by G####:

A useful alternative to Evernote. The only feature I miss is the ability to tag pages so I can easily find them later when they are saved to sections other than the one I filled the page into. The tagging model in OneNote is a little lacking overall but if you dont use them you will be fine

D70%
by D####:

With no doubt this is the best application in its category. Thanks for your great job. I am an ex-windowsphone user and i can easily say that this microsoft-based app is FAR better and more advanced than the app in windows phone store.

W70%
by W####:

I don't like the recent notes as the first thing I see when I open the app. I want to see my folders first. I also echo others regarding the lack of the features found on the dedicated windows version. Like Evernote but hate their charges so Onenote is way better value and love the cross platform ability.

B70%
by B####:

Great app, however, I suggest an improvement on the search option. I don't think OneNote on Android has content specific search. There ought to be search in relation to the page, in relation to a section and in relation to a particular notebook - - a feature present in OneNote for PC and on Windows Phone. That functionality to this app will make it better.

D70%
by D####:

I tried many of note taking apps. This one has been the best. I can capture simple notes, as well as as complex notes that may require lists, attachments, plus I can then categorize them. I use for biz cards, part#s, procedures, recipes, lots of stuff... I also have a PW protected note with a list of personal notes. And it's sync'd to every device. No glitches as so far... crossed fingers.

Um... I think mine is broken. So I used this all the time on my old phone (Blu) and then I got a new phone. (Moto) It doesn't sync with my laptop. It says that my connection servers are slow. It will not sync. I also have this very long story. I can't continue to write it. I go to where I stopped writing, and it brings me back up to the fricking top. I can't get back to continue writing. It happened to a few other things I have in there too. It's happened to both titled and untitled stories. Also, sometimes when I type, it doesn't move my screen to follow the words. I have to move it, and it doesn't always work. Please fix this. It would make it better and easier to use.

Having been forced to move from a Windows phone I was uneasy about what the Android implementation would be like. No worries. It's great. It's my favourite note taking app and its pages and books organisation allows me to really organise my thoughts. With the nature of the data the notebooks can handle it will sometimes take a moment to download. Stuff it with pictures and videos and of course it will take time to sync. Definitely one of Microsoft's underrated gems. Do take time to read the demo pages though. You will be richly rewarded for your efforts.

Very primitive steal needs a lot of work after you finish writing your note where is it saving it does not give you on option should have on option to save the notes like to your One drive or anywhere you like. Second trying to edit a note good luck. Should be quick and simple.

Really like using this app to keep me organized across devices and platforms but wish I could add follow-up flags when adding notes from my phone. Am I missing something or is this feature truly not available on OneNote for android?

D70%
by D####:

Excelent It really help me on my job. The only thing that i expect from onenote is I hope the sync will be faster on next update bcause I use this app on my tablet and phone, sometimes it took a bit long to sync both.

M70%
by M####:

This is a great app for notes etc. due to cross platform use but has a very serious limitation of not being password protected! A hacked phone log in exposes all serious note information to all prying eyes. Password log in will have tremendous positive security results. Otherwise this is a well thought out note taking app.

I had no idea that inserting tables was not possible with Android? Wow! Why on Earth would Microsoft do that!? It isn't usable for me with Android, so I will just uninstall it and find another program. Hugely disappointing. I can't even do it by going online. This is a massive fail by Microsoft.

T70%
by T####:

It would be great if you were able to change the colors of the notebooks and the colors of the tabs. Also having different font options would work well. Beyond that it does work like a three-ring binder and that I enjoy. Good basic app just needs to be expanded and add more bells and whistles

D70%
by D####:

I liked the new UI :) however, if an option where there's a text preview of the content of a page will be added (like on the Windows 10 App) it will be much helpful, it gives more context to each page than just titles or texts layed down on screen. Just a suggestion :)

One Note is a good digital notebook to keep track of my routine work. Innovative work in laboratories, if benefits masses ... then you personally feel proud with your association with the community. Thank you very much Microsoft ...

D70%
by D####:

It can be a bit slow at times and have syne weirdness with the input, but the app is great in general and does a great job syncing when necessary. A much better solution for managing multiple notebooks and a variety of notes than Evernote and other competitors.

D70%
by D####:

My primary use is for typed notes. But their custom editor is pretty awful, including: spell check is not working, word replacement is buggy, initial caps is non-functional, scrolling is cumbersome, formatting tools are absent with lots of tools I never use, selection tools are not easy to use. I wish they would use the standard Android keyboard tools - I have abandoned OneNote for simpler less buggy note taking apps...

C70%

I love the fact that it's a multi-platform note pad. For me, with my mind running 100 miles a minute, having notes are essential. Stickies are nice but clutter isn't. Also the interface on each platform in nicely optimized.

D70%
by D####:

I like the app, but I wish you can add a little more features - such as creating and editing a table similar to the desktop version. Not expecting a fully functional desktop though, but abit more functionality will do, especially for S pen users like myself.

D70%
by D####:

I like everything about it except the inability to sort the Notes. The unchangeable default is chronological. I really want OneNote to be my ONLY go to note app. Add the simple feature of sorting the notes A-Z or by Date/Time and OneNote will be hands down a 5-star app!

D70%
by D####:

No way to integrate todo list with phone or have a quick entry on home screen. Default view cant be changed from recently viewed page list. Cortana tasks and reminders appear to be completely seperate

D70%
by D####:

I've used OneNote since its premier on Office 2007 and it's been the easiest information tracking and organization app I've seen since. Each iteration has improved its functionality and the mobile version is almost on-par with desktop, even on an aging phone.

D70%
by D####:

Making my life easy for the past 5 years. I always have notes, lists, and recipes anywhere I go. Only issue is with an old phone seems to take long to synch causing work to rectify.
