Irdroid for Android
Doesn't work
To all rating low because this free app needs external equip to use- learn to read. Don't rate the app low just because you were too lazy to read.
You're losing your credibility by: 1. Using the same reply regardless of the issue raised by the reviewer . 2. Asking people not to give you negative reviews. 3. All of the 5-star ratings lack explanation. 4. All of the five-star reviewers have made up sounding names without reviewing history. Anyone of these problems taken by itself could be shrugged off, but together they give the impression of a developer unwilling to acknowledge the problems his users are experiencing
To say this app is a let down would be an understatement. I ordered the module. Ships from Bulgaria btw. Took forever to get here. I'm a smart guy and it took me a week to successfully parse a file for the remote I need. Did it work then? No! It crashes every time I send a command (remote button press). Turns out, it's not compatible with lollipop. The documentation does not explain how to import the remote file you need. I feel like I got taken advantage of. App last update Jan 2014, almost 2 years ago!
After installing and running the app all I get is 6 buttons on the top of screen with volume, channel etc, and 2 drop down lists at the bottom which are not populated. All I see is 2 blank buttons. When I click on either I get a small window without a list or anything to select. There's mention of a "menu" button and select update DB - what menu button??? There's none on the app and my phone doesn't have one. I see some reviews mention a config file - how do I use this. What am I missing? And yes I have an IR module.
I was so excited to get my IrDroid module. Got my conf file downloaded, finally found the right battery... And it crashes when I send any input. I should have expected an app still using pre-Holo design principles not to work...
it crashes everytime i try to use the buttons on the screen. also i want to be able to configure which buttons appear on the screen!! (managed to use LIRC without any issues)
Does not work
Thanks you !!!! :) :D
Need to add more devices like more tv's and some game consoles like xbox 360
Thanks you !!!! :) :D
Awsome
After receiving the module, I was excited to see if it worked. Managed to get my TV turning on and off. But the app is just useless. Only 6 icons available to perform an action, the rest you must pick from a list. Adding your own remotes is near impossible, I type in the exact path (file browser anyone?) and it tells me it can't find it. The only reason this is getting more than one star is because it powers on my TV, which is all I wanted it for. Just wish there were a better app available.
OK I just got my v1.0 in the mail today. Several issues but finally got it working at pretty poor range. Like another reviewer I had to delete the app data/cache manually through the settings->apps menu. Then I made the changes they require to change KEY_VOLUMEUP to VOL+ for example. Then picking the file by manually typing in /storage/sdcard0/filename.txt sucked. Then I had to actually REDUCE my moto x audio volume to about half. I think the irdroid sets vol to max but this is bad.
love it
On Galaxy S2 it did not work as the front end of the plug was 3.2mm diameter instead of 3.0. I filed it off and now it works fine ! However, the user interface is hardcoded and cannot be changed with always Sony TV on top. That is the missing star, so I give it four stars.
Yes indeed, I would be BRILLIANT and FUNTASTIC, if it had a couple more devices listed on top of those Samsung :( - really disappointing. Where are the Sony, LG, etc., etc., etc., just look into an universal remote to see the size of possibilities. Maybe you could make small libs by brand.
Must use 3rd party module. Does not work with built in IR. Vizio VTAB
Crap. Dont effing post it as free and just give users the interface... 'Ohhh that looks like a button - I will pay for that!' You Wanks...
Not free. You must buy module then it won't work on zt180 tablet. Wast com time.
It downloads but to use I need to purchase. Waste of time
$39 for a module that contains a couple of dollars worth of components! Why not just charge for the software and let us build our own
Why I need to buy something that may not like it, I dont see how I can test it before buy it!
A STAR FOR EFFORT..SORRY NOT MADE FOR THE EVO 4G
I have tested on Ir relay switch and it works. Fantastic!
It sucks uninstall u have to buy sumthin for $35 seperate from all of this its stupid
Not Free. Need to buy module to use......
Didn't import custom conf file properly and doesn't support file browsing minimal functionality without these
How do I get irdroid module
I wish it worked without the $35.00 module.
gotta use it more before i can really rate it. :)
Two main problems: A) You have to manually type the path to the conf file you want to use. And B) They 'require' you purchase an IR dongle from them. Something you can create at home with a few spare parts, or buy online for 2$. Total ripoff.
Dont wast your time.
it crashes everytime i try to use the buttons on the screen. also i want to be able to configure which buttons appear on the screen!! (managed to use LIRC without any issues)
Excellent the best app
Using the 2.0 hardware, I was unable to load a custom profile after wasting hours. Save yourself the trouble and money, and wait for an app which works.
To use cutom LIRC file, I followed the instructions, cleared conf, selected "parse", gave the path to the file, but each time it loads the default conf instead. Also "send" doesn't work. It doesn't show anything on the screen. Pls fix.
Not Free have to purchace plug-in to make it work
Like others, I haven't been able to get any custom LIRC config files to work. I've succeeded in parsing a few (hint: clear the data through app management because the app doesn't delete the database correctly) but the app crashes on button press (likely the buttons weren't mapped correctly). The app badly needs a help forum where users can share info and tips; It's mostly useless without it. The hardware module supposedly works with Coversal with the Lirc plugin (also on market); But nothing I've tried has had any success with getting any signals sent from that app. Lastly, the download database WORKS, if you happen to have one of the ten obscure devices in it. This is a very promising program that still has a long way to go.

What an utter waste of time. On my Android 4.4.4 device, the ... menu is there but it crashes when I try to click on a button. I tried a custom lirc conf file and now I can't get back to the default database. Uninstalling app and reinstalling it still refuses to download the standard database. On my Android 5.0.1 device, the ... menu isn't even there so there's no way to even set it up to try it.
