Refoodgee

This app was created by Memorado during project #hackweek15 #refugeeswelcome.

Refoodgee is a free app which brings refugees and locals together by sharing in an activity that unites us across cultures – cooking and eating a meal!

If you’re a refugee, you can sign up as a GUEST to be invited to a cooking session at a local’s house, teach them how to cook dishes from your home country, or learn a new recipe from them.

If you’re a local, register as a HOST and invite a refugee into your kitchen and to your dinner table, cook with them, learn about their story, and make them feel welcome in their new country.

Both guests and hosts give infomation about their gender, country of origin, language, general location and preferred cuisine. You can upload a photo and write a short description about yourself and the dishes you like to cook. If an invitation is accepted, you are connected via email to plan your get-together.

Meeting face to face is the best way to lend support - something every human needs to get through difficult times.

Eating is also a great (and delicious!) way to learn about other cultures – let the culinary exchange begin!
