SMS for Pidgin IM for Android
I installed the app hoping that it would be a great mobile compliment to Pidgin at work but the trial ended before i even got a chance to use it... i installed and registeted on a thursday, had to stop the setup configuration because the app requires you to be at the desktop to set-up sync. Then i recieved notice 48 hrs later saying that i exceeded msg limit snd that i would have to pay to continue.. i cant really rate the app because i never sent or received a msg but i can say that a 48 hr trial is short
I wanted to update this and add the devs have gotten in contact with me and there's a totally new service used, and a new version of the app which should fix the issues I and others may have been having. If need be they can email you the apk file if the update doesn't propagate. Thanks guys! for working on this, and appologies for the harsh review earlier.
I'm an avid pidgin user and now i can use it for sms. Wish the trial was longer but the app does what it is supposed to, worth the money for the lifetime usage completely!
Too short in time and to limited in number of messages to send and receive
If you use Pidgin all the time, I think you will like this.
Rating set for app error.: java.io.IOException PHONE_REGISTRATION_ERROR
So, I'm giving this three stars. Here's the deal. This is absolutely a 5 star app. Hell, it's a 7 star app. However, the free version has a limit of 5 SMS message a day. That is retardedly low. So the free version isn't a free version so much as a "try our crap and then buy it because it's totally useless for anything else until you pay for it". Completely, 100% awesome application, but $4.99 a month is way too steep. Right now they're offering a lifetime subscription for a flat rate of $29.99. Which is still too steep. I'd pay $30 for it if I could find some way to justify NEEDING this app, but I have my phone 4 inches from my hand. I don't need it. It's just more convenient. I can live without it. God, how I wish they had an ad supported version with a realistic daily limit so I could actually use this app without hating myself for spending $30 on the frakin thing!
Was unpleasantly surprised when I reached the daily text limit after 3 texts. Also... charging 4.99 a month to piggy-back of the work of open-source developers (ie, the guys that actually make Pidgin) is robbery. Thanks, but no thanks.

Currently $50 for a lifetime of pro.. no thanks. Earlier reviews mentioned $30, which I almost considered. The app is useful and works but definitely not worth the asking prices.. not even $5 per month, or $30 per year. How can you guarantee lifetime support with only 5,000 downloads, most of which are likely long GONE.. never to be seen again. And I agree with the other reviewer, you're piggybacking off the Pidgin devs and asking money for 50% of a project that isn't even yours.
