SMS for iMessage App (iChat) for Android
Service and app is great, its unfortunately a one way street (Android to iMessage), but they do a good job of warning you about this. The three star rating has to do with it easily being my biggest battery draining app. I don't think there's a way around that considering how many text I receive, but I may update my review if more granular settings become available such as setting times for message sync.
I'm a former Apple Fanboy. Just bought a Note 8, but I still needed it to sync with iMessage easily. This app does an excellent job! I can easily toggle between the iPhone & Android while I get comfortable with this platform. It was a breeze to set up (maybe 2 mins or less). It has worked flawlessly. I'll be recommending it to my fam as I get them to also abandon what has become Apples new line of snore-phones.
I use Google to run my small business and a Mac as my computer of choice. This tool is an absolute Godsend. I am able to text on my phone when I am in the field and on my Mac when I am in the studio... It doesn't drop messages like some of the other services I have used and they are still working to add new features. Keep up the great work - I am in for life!
Worked exactly as described. Synced easy fast and accurate. 4 stars becsuse of the 5 text trial which doesn't attest to the reliability over time. Maybe a couple days free would be much better considering the price tag that you aren't aware of later on. Other then that it's great. I did get a promo code for writing this honest review of the product.
I download sms for i-message app (ichat) since I'm a android user and wanting to received text through mac system and am very impress. I watch the YouTube video and the video on MDRS LLC website and the process was simple and quick and self explanatory! You don't have to be a tech wiz to figure out how to set up the i-message on your computer or phone is beyond easy and simple. So far I like app and can use my ios computer system and receive my text messages as a iphone user would through i-message thanks to sms for i-message. I gave it 5 stars due that it's easy to follow instructions and simple.
I use this to communicate withy employees. It worked great for the first two days then crashed after they received my payment. It hasn't worked since. I have sent ten emails to support in the past month and have not received one reply. Do not depend on this for communication and getting help on troubleshooting when problems arise. This was a bad mistake for my company to invest in them!
Does not support dual sim integration.you have to manually set your default sms sim in your android phone. But whenever there is a text from secondary sim and you replied through macbook's messages app, your reply will autonatically be routed to sim1 or your default sms sim. I hope theres a way to fix this. Nice app though
So this app does exactly what you'd think it does, and for the most part it works flawlessly. I've used a couple alternatives in the past, notably MAXS and GTalk SMS. They all do essentially the same thing, which is sync your SMS messages with an XMPP (Jabber) account. Where this app differs is that it creates a different Jabber alias for each contact, and automatically adds them as buddies so when you use it with your XMPP client (iChat) every conversation shows up separately, which is a much better user experience. If all you want is to text from iChat or any other XMPP client this is by far your best option.
The best part about this application is that it sits between your existing messaging app on your android phone and Messages on your Mac. Once you set up Android SMS for iChat you're good to go. You can still use your preferred Android messaging application there are no new interfaces to learn and everything just works. I look forward to the continued evolution of this app. Great job MDRS developers.
Great app for Android & Mac users. Definitely makes sms many times more productive. Helps me deal with the loss of integrated sms that I had with project fi. Would give it five stars if it could visualize my messages on my side of conversation regardless of whether they came from the app or my phone
TERRIBLE, i dont mind paying for the service but 149 dollars for lifetime usage for an app we dont even know how long they will keep updating is ABSURD. The 4.99 option is okay but i like to full out own my apps, not subscription services. Rather pick up my phone and text than pay 149 for the right to using it permanently
Very pleased with this app. Does exactly what it promises. SMS messages coming and going from macOS Sierra are routed through my Moto X Pure (and other Android devices I own). Alll with very little fuss (a basic understanding of how to configure a Jabber account in the Messages.app is required). This app brought "a childlike sense of wonder" to my Android devices, thank you.
I like this app, but for the basic version only allowing 5 texts per day is kind of... Upsetting... My old app allowed 500 free messages a month.. I think that's fair enough. Idk.. I'm just complaining because I can't afford the pay right now so really I won't be using the app until I get a job.
Delayed syncing of SMS. I was wondering why. I think I now know the answer -- because they've been developing their own Airtext macOS app! It's a waste of my pro subscription!
I've gotten this app long ago and paid for premium but then it logged me out and won't accept my password. When trying to reset my password, it doesn't even recognize me. Ugh. Horrible app!
It works as described, however I think the subscription is too expensive. BTW I am still concerned about sending private data through an unknown app. Anyway did I mention that it works?
This app works really well! I really love my Mac, but I don't think I'll ever be able to switch to an iPhone so it gives me the ability to use both. I would really love to see a phone call aspect added as an additional app.
Reasonably OK app. I subscribed for a year but I will look for alternatives before renewing. It forwards SMS to a site that I can subscribe to using jabber within my MacBook Pro's imessage, so it approximates Apple's ecosystem. Things I don't like, it runs in the background on my Android phone so if the service dies, so do the messages. Images are poorly handled, and I don't like the silly tagine on every text forwarded to my Mac, I don't need to look at 500 tag line advertisements a day, especially when I paid for it. No way to shut that off it seems, other than write an Automator script on my Mac to deal with them.
This app is great when it works! It seems to be working now, but have had issues w it in the last. Hoping it holds up, as it's a great app. Update. It's using almost 20% of my batteries resource. Uninstalling now. There has to be a better solution.
Now that I've switched from iPhone to Note 8, the biggest drawback is not being able to sync messages from your computer to phone. Enter SMS for iMessage. It's easy to set up as a jabber account on Apple Messages and it ports your texts onto the Mac. It works well and is really helpful. I held back a star because to upgrade to the pro account and have unlimited texts is not cheap, but you do get a limited amount of texts and you really get to see that it works before you upgrade.
I downloaded to try the app. Wouldn't open is the first issue. Tried to reinstall. Nothing. But then I noticed I was getting the same popup on my screen. A ad for something else. I tried running scans and nothing would find it. Uninstalled the app and the ad stopped popping up. Don't download this app. Not false.... Reinstalled the free version and the SAME ad popped up again. Tell me the I.T guy for 15 years that I am wrong!
Really good app! Works seamlessly and it's easy to set up. Two stars off for two different reasons. 1) It's too expensive. $130 for a lifetime use of it. Should be cheaper. 2) When your outgoing messages sent from your phone show up on the iMessage app, the show up as gray ones (similar to the incoming messages). Gets confusing. Besides those two things it's great
Works as intended. Very stable. People writing that app doesn't work are just newbies that can't get it to work. I am an IT expert and it took me no time to set up and it does what it tells us.
I'm very new to this. I recently migrated over from iPhone, after nearly a decade. I was reluctant. Part of my hesitation was iMessage, particularly the convenience of being able to text from my MacBook. From my experience so far, this app mitigates that issue and has smoothed the transition considerably. I will update my review as I use it more.
If youre willing to pay for the premiun, its worth it. I just wish the messages i sent on my phone were also displayed as if they were sent from messages cause it can get annoying receiving notifications about your own text
The functionality on the mac is great, it sends notifications in real time. Would like to see a fix to it saying "sent from android" and just have it show that it sent from you, but that seems difficult. Makes using a mac and android together way better
Great for Android / Apple hybrid users. I wish the app would stay logged in instead of requiring sign in every time my Mac goes to sleep. Otherwise it does exactly what I needed it to.
What a lifesaver this app is. I tried to switch to iPhone when I tool my new job but could not get used to carrying around an inferior device. With this app everything is seamless! Great job guys!
Just started using the app yesterday after being wholly dissatisfied with a couple other similar apps that claimed to bring my Android messages to my Mac. So far, it has been a wonderful experience and I look forward to using the app in the future. I love how it brings native support to my phone/MacBook rather than some janky mirroring option. I love that I don't have to text in a browser window like I did with a couple of the other apps. Huge let down with those. Can't say enough good things about this app, but I'll be sure to update as I go!
Overall this is a great app, but is very overpriced especially considering that there are still some inherent flaws with it. The biggest flaw is not being able to send multimedia messages, but hopefully that will come in a future update. The problem is that with the current price being what it is, it's almost justified to just buy an iPhone instead if you really want to use messages from your computer. Other than that, its still a great app and without it I probably wouldn't have made the switch to Android as readily
This is a really solid app. It's also the only one that works for me. It was easy to connect and has been basically flawless ever since. The reason I take off two stars is because my experience with support has been abysmal. When I asked about pricing they got back to me instantly, but when it came to my other issue, I've been ignored completely, even when I asked about it in the *same* email. It's not a problem that hinders my use (I was really just asking if something was possible), but it felt like getting me to buy the app was more important than answering my question. If that changes, I'll modify my review. Otherwise, it's a really well-made app that so far has worked better than all the others so far.
Probably one of the top reasons I'd ever consider getting an iPhone is the convenience of iMessage. This is a pretty good alternative. I'm not super in love with the subscription model, and I think that the flat fee's a little high, but that's the price you pay for convenience, I guess.
Made the switch to Android after using iOS since 2008. The one thing I missed days into the switch was iMessage on my Mac. After reviewing multiple sites, reading positive reviews I installed and haven't looked back. Works as expected & no need to look further. Well done.
I have been a long time iOS user and now I use a BlackBerry with android. This app seamlessly integrates with the Messages app on my Macbook which allows me to integrate both systems. brilliant!!
The fact that I can text from my laptop is probably the best thing ever. I love my MacBook pro, but I have an android phone so this app is so helpful when I want talk to my sister in Jamaica. I don't have to look away from the computer to text her or respond to all my my coworkers that have iPhones.
Just moved back an Android phone after trying an iPhone for a while. I was afraid to miss out on all the great group texts and sick burns my friends hit me with in imessage. This was super easy to install and now I don't miss out on all the group chats I was afraid I'd miss.
Works all right some of the time. My main complaint is that, when I use ultra power save mode and I go back to regular mode, the app won't work until I sign out on my phone and sign back in. I use power save a lot, so this is becoming very annoying. Also, it seems sometimes the app just doesn't forward the texts and then they all suddenly come in all at once, or I have to open the app on my phone and then they are forwarded. Great concept, still needs some re-working.
For power users using macOS this can be a lifesaver. Works seamlessly with sms and mms. Only thing it's missing is true iMessage integration *cough apple cough*.
So far no issues, the sync to my phone is a little laggy sometimes but it is no complaint since it works. Only thing I wish is that when the message you sent from your phone showed up on the other side and not in one long thread of the recipients message and the text sent from the phone.

I CAN TEXT FROM MY LAPTOP I came onto the Play Store just looking for an app that allowed me to get my Messages from my MacBook on my Android phone (obviously). Instead I got the opposite and it's so much better! Once it synced with Messages (which was easier than you'd think), it downloaded all my texts and contacts and suddenly I was like Jasmin riding with Aladdin on the flying carpet for the first time. I was looking for some bronze, but instead I found gold.
