by P####:

Slow and clunky, now you have even more steps to purchase and activate a ticket. That's when it doesn't hang. Great to have a conductor standing there waiting for it to load. If it doesn't, even if you have tickets in your "wallet", payment is demanded usually with surcharge. App is on par with quality of MBTA and Keolis in general which deserves less than a star.

C70%
by C####:

2 stars for not having to stand in line, but everything else . . . The worst thing I've noticed is that the app resets itself so soon after you activate the ticket that you have to start the process over again by the time the conductor gets to you. Conductors on the outbound peak hour trains on my line don't even bother to make sure you even have a paid ticket half the time because they'd never finish checking the rest of the passengers if they waited for everyone's apps to load.

C70%
by C####:

I installed the app, tried to purchase a ticket, entered my credit card info (double and triple checking it was valid) and the"Accept & Pay" button still appeared greyed out and disabled. I had to buy the ticket at the physical ticket kiosk instead.

M70%
by M####:

Even after their most recent "update" it has become even harder to use and even more unreliable. I had to purchase the same ticket THREE TIMES before it would activate once! This is unacceptable! Also, brilliant idea making the schedule require an internet connection. So now when you are down on a platform that does not have wifi (most of them) you have to use your data to check the schedule, (or a separate app) providing you can get a signal.

N70%
by N####:

Purchased tickets disappear. App forgets device is registered. I recommend you only buy 1 ticket at a time without logging in.

C70%
by C####:

Not really an upgrade. Features removed, slower, less intuitive. Poor comparison to the old app.

C70%
by C####:

After a while it wouldn't let me buy a ticket and was not taking my card

C70%
by C####:

I would love it if you could lookup schedule on the app as well

C70%
by C####:

It's harder to see all my tickets (I usually buy the 10-rides) because of the new unnecessarily large ticket cards. I had one active ticket and three inactive tickets in my ticket wallet and they transferred over just fine. It's a lot less laggy than the ancient app. Personally, I dislike being redirected to web browsers (mobile sites usually suck).

X70%
by X####:

1. To access schedules it opens a web browser and directs you to MBTA site. 2. When activating a ticket it doesn't stay open in the background so when conductor finally makes his way by you have to navigate back through the app and more or less reactivate the ticket over again.

C70%
by C####:

The app with no error handling. Installed it, it wouldn't open. Deinstalled it. Reinstalled it. Opened it. tried to create a new account, as instructed by customer service. Account never gets created, phone freezes, reboot phone. Unable to purchase ticket without account. Unable to access the 8 tickets that are on my account. Need to go buy a paper ticket. Thanks mTicket.

Z70%
by Z####:

The new version claimed to be faster but is not, maybe slower. Additionally some features are less intuitive than in the previous version. Makes me wonder if whoever designed the app actually rides the T in real life.

C70%
by C####:

Boarded a train without cash on me, couldn't buy a ticket with this app. This is very frustrating. Please fix this soon. Also, it redirects to a website to check the schedules, which is extremely inconvenient (the previous version of the app was so much better).

A70%
by A####:

I had bought tickets on the older version of the app. They're now gone and there is no way to recover them. What a rip off. There was NOTHING wrong with the old app.

W70%
by W####:

The app used to open directly to the active ticket. Now it takes several taps and delays to activate or display the active ticket. This wastes the conductors time. Please bring back that feature.

C70%
by C####:

App was working fine until the most recent update. Now I can't sign in and therefore have no access to my tickets. I've tried twice to reset my password but am not getting the email with the reset. What a disaster.

I70%
by I####:

Lost my credit card information. Will not reset my password. Being referred to a website for schedules is painful. I suggest rolling back and starting over. Hire a new developer!

C70%
by C####:

The update deleted all of my information, got rid of the train schedules, and alerts. Pretty much everything that made this app convenient is now gone from the app. Before I would have rated it a 4 or 5 now it's a solid 2.

S70%
by S####:

So maybe it is cleaner now than before, but some things, like schedules, seem hidden and just launch a browser. This should be in the app, the schedules don't change daily and where service on the train is spotty, this is a real issue.

U70%
by U####:

I bought round trip tickets this morning, but when I boarded the train there was nothing in my wallet. Bought another round while on the train, but the return ticket (which had been in my wallet till boarding, I checked) also disappeared after I got on the train. Won't connect my account. I'm out $21. This update is incredibly broken.

C70%
by C####:

Seriously, why would you remove half the feature set from the app? There's a schedules button (if you go into the menu looking for it) but it just redirects you to a website. Awful decision.

N70%
by N####:

I purchase 3 tickets now that will not show up in my ticket wallet. Waste of time and money. You guys need to fix this.

B70%
by B####:

The "Alerts" button should be on the app's homepage given that the trains are delayed all the time. Instead, you have to click on a tiny thing in the upper right hand corner and then select from a utilities list. There's plenty of room for a couple more buttons on the first page! Why do you still choose to inconvenience us?

C70%
by C####:

The app doesn't return to the screen it was left on. This is a giant waste of time for the fare collector. You either can't use your phone until the collect tickets or it takes many (slow) clicks to get back to your ticket.

C70%
by C####:

Gets the job done, but forces max brightness on the ticket screen (really, should have a button to toggle that). My biggest gripe is that it binds your account to your device, and only allows switching three times every six months. This may not sound bad... until your cell phone does and you have to sign in on your tablet to access your tickets. Then you're stuck either using your tablet for the next six months (or until it's dead) before switching back, or use a second "switch". If you're kinda bad at charging your devices, and/or switch devices frequently, this arbitrary restriction could really **** your commute (and I don't mean give it a four star rating). Seriously, what would be wrong with two switches per month? Should be enough to keep the app from being abused, and anyways, the only way I can think of to "abuse" the switching could easily be monitored and corrected on the backend, rather than imposing arbitrary limitations on legitimate users. Lastly, why can't you "subscribe" to train lines and receive push alerts about service issues? This seems like a no-brainer, but instead the alerts feature merely takes you to the alerts page. It's better than nothing, but not by a lot.

Keeps telling me my card security code is wrong when I just used my card to grab an uber. Waste of time. App is trash

Y70%
by Y####:

Lost over $20 due to expired tickets in this app. I travel a lot and often can't use all my tickets in 90 days. And I have to commute before the trains start running most days so I'm stuck buying 10 rides. The geniuses at the mbta are worried about people stocking up on tickets when they raise fares, which happens once every few years. Meanwhile the customer has to risk that they have unused tickets every 90 days, not worth the aggravation. And the same geniuses now limit the amount of paper tickets you can buy to 4, not that you can't buy 40 in 10 transactions, further making life aggravating for the customer. Thanks to the French government-owned Keolis, we traded one incompetent government operator for another. Privatise the whole organization and let the private sector that knows how to deal with customer service and compete with lower fares run the organization. The working people who pay taxes have to hand over an ever higher % of their weekly pay to government, like they don't already take enough.

The old app was much better. The updated one is garbage

What's up with crancking the screen brightness to max when to activate the ticket?

How about bulk select and activate tickets for riding with multiple other people?

C70%

I think the MBTA app works great. The new version is an improvement over the old one. The schedule is accurate. Buying a ticket is very easy. When you have to change your payment method it is quite clear how to make that happen. The app has user warnings to confirm that you are doing what you want to do. It has never frozen while I'm using it. The user interface is attractive and easy to navigate. In short, it is a very convenient way to keep your ticket always handy and available. I highly recommend it and encourage those who haven't taken advantage of this method to give it a try. It will save you both time and trouble.

C70%
by C####:

There is no way to save credit card info in the app before fully submitting a ticket purchase. This makes the first purchase a hassle when you are trying to quickly obtain a ticket. You should be able to enter CC info ahead of time, prior to purchase. If you switch credit cards, your phone, or need to reset your existing phone, you will be back to square one and fumbling with CC entry at just the wrong time.

I started working in Boston and I installed this app for my monthly pass. Overall the app works great. But; when I needed to transfer the mticket over to a new phone that I bought, customer service was horrible. I called the phone number that was listed and the person I talked to said they could not help me out. When I sent an email to them I got no response. So now I have to pay for a fare up to Boston to get a monthly pass that I alreaady paid for transferred. UPDATE: 12/22/16: Just an FYI for those with a rooted phone. I have CyanogenMod on my rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 and when I went to update it, it would not let me via Google playstrore. I got a message saying that the app was not compatible with my version. I was, however, able to download the .apk and install it manually.

E70%
by E####:

Used to work fine but now I'm not longer to purchase tickets using this app. I called customer service and was told to uninstall, delete from Samsung storage, reinstall and sign back in, and the problem would go away. Did all that, still not able to purchase a ticket.

K70%

Worked fine under Android 6.*, however on Android 7.1.1 I am unable to purchase tickets or login to my account. Just infinite loading, and the app is unresponsive. I'll return my review to 5-stars when the app works again...

K70%
by K####:

It never works, I always get an error processing payment. I know I put my correct info. Waste of space

C70%
by C####:

But doesn't work on Android 7.1, crashes when trying to use ticket and infinite loading on everything else, guess I'm back to paying cash

C70%
by C####:

I very much appreciate an app that doesn't request a ridiculous amount of permissions

It sucks, using your credit card?
