Emby for Android for Android
good. but you have to pay money
Awesome!
Robust client on Android
I sometimes use this app as a remote for Kodi on my PC, or for my DVD player. The free version is okay as a remote, but I've never seen a working playlist function in the app so I'd rather use bubbleupnp to cast media, and Yatse as a Kodi remote. I don't really understand why the emby web client is free to use for streaming and has nearly all the same features as this.
Plex is still the most polished media server/player I've used and still use. However, Emby slays the competition with options. This app is miles ahead of when I tested it two years ago. The layouts are customizable, you can access the metadata manager directly from the app, and the options are plentiful. My only complaint is that auto adjustment of video playback based on available speed never works for me. I have to manually adjust or just deal with buffer, video, buffer, video, buffer. Still, I'm very excited for Emby and its future progress. Great app all in all.
Resume from Continue watching is not working on Android. On my Samsung TV works fine, but on my phone, app ask me will I resume or play from beginning, and when I choose Resume it start to play movie from the beginning. Please fix this, its stupid bug and so annoying
Excellent app!
Loved it
Cast is working. Thanks
I would give 5 stars but there is one thing what is not working the way as it should. When I change the bitrate to any than auto then the app stops playing the movie. If I change it back to auto then it works again. Would be great to use like 360p when I am out like on train and not having access to wifi. Please fix it. Thank you Note: It is working fine on PC if I use the browser to watch movies
Very frustrating! I'm a premium user trying to use the music sync function to my Android. The sync function is very delayed and when it works out converts the files to .opus codecs. These files are useless when trying to use any other app to find and play music. I use to be able to sync as mp3, it would make sense to give the end users the choice instead of forcing a file that's usefulness is very limited.
The emby server works great, but the Android interface of this app is awful. Slow, random crashes, if in playing music it will stop between songs and as I type this now it stopped playing a song directly in the middle. I have no idea how the web UI can be so great while this app is impossible to use. EDIT: With a phone with better memory management the app works much smoother. The audio player is still clunky and I wish you could change the quality for streaming but it's a great tool.
Terrible. Dog slow and immediate request for money to find out that it's dog slow. No opportunity for refund. I would not mind at all paying for an app / server that just works but this is not it.
Not worth the money (Emby Premium). When it works, works well. However frequent connection issues with the server. Buggy/Unstable - more like Beta app. UI is ok, not as good as Plex.
Shareware / Payware at it's worst. They claim to be an opensource project. Yet everything functional is behind a $4.99/Each Month/ $100/ lifetime pay wall.
Majority of format fails to play on the phone, Chromecast notification keep on disconnecting from the lock screen
Before you waste your time: You can't even USE the app until you buy a subscription or pay, which completely defeats the purpose of a self-hosted streaming app.
Buggier than hell. Not worth spending money to unlock.
Fix chromecast stability. Won't stay connected to the chromecast for more than 10 seconds. Have to reconnect every time to pause or anything. None of my other chromecast apps have this problem, only emby. This bug has been in the app for the last 6 updates and has yet to be fix. Pretty poor.
The latest update just crashes whenever I try to play anything; if I try using an external player it just plays the first half-second and goes no further. Hope they fix it soon!
Emby is a great platform. I have it installed on all of my devices. Great support if you run into issues.
This really needs smikl integration. It's the only thing preventing me from switching from plex
Update: Got the Emby server in a new Synology DS116, and what a great piece of software it is, in fact, they should charge for that and make the flakey Android app a freebie! The app has just been updated again, but it's still full of Chromecast bugs and photos never reach the TV... so Emby server will still be used but with Bubbleupnp for now.
Easier set-up than plex. Works on my Samsung TV.
Plex what? Emby on the rise...
Have been using emby for some time now, but the QC on there updates are next to nothing, every update breaks as much as it fixes. I can't recommend emby.
Works great for things like the Chromecast but try using it to stream music from and you'll find that the controls in the notification do nothing, can't skip a track forward or backward, and if I pause a song I have a very hard time resuming it again, usually involves playing from the start again and skipping back to where I was... Pretty poor if you ask me. I did think this was because of the Internet but the exact same applies over Wireless N on the Lan...
I can't restore purchased app. I've checked my email and I saw that I paid for the app in December 2015. But app still say "you have to pay. If you had paid pls log in with the account that you use to purchase this app." I've done it already!!!!
Please bring back the old VLC-like Player with swipe brightness/volume/seek.
No funciona en Mini M8S, se friza, ni tampoco Emby for Android TV, por favor revisar
The Server is running on my HP DL Rack. Amazing media center with official kodi support
I used to be able to stream my media for free, but today I had to pay to be able to stream on my tablet. Still works great, but the main reason I use Emby is because it's free/cheap.
the guide and channel list on live tv are very slow now on my nexus6. Tried on an iphone 6plus and was surprised how much faster it was.
Getting better, but currently very slow response.. cleared settings several times, but no difference :'(
I love emby , i havent used plex since plex is closed source. Good to see that the developers are constantly updating the app and server.
I've always been a fan of Emby, but I really hate that I have to pay to watch my own content that I'm hosting on my own machine.
There are many bugs in the new version. The seek function is very choppy and the app is very slow. Please fix.
Audio keeps cutting out since a recent version.
Garbage, does nothing

I use this to connect to my media library, it does a great job.
