Mazda Mobile Start for Android
Worthless. Takes forever to use. By the time the car starts, you are already at the car. I live in Florida and purchased the mobile start to run the a.c. and cool the car down. The equipment needed is expensive and doesn't work half the time. Save your money. Not sure why they couldn't just give a key fob with remote start. Worst remote start I have ever encountered. Actually, it is the only remote start I have had a problem with period. Mazda makes such good cars, not sure why this is such a dud. Please fix this Mazda, I am extremely disappointed.
Having to log in every time then input a pin seems redundant. Please fix. Please allow fingerprint password for phones that are capable. Or at least the pin only which should be sufficient. Plus it takes too long to do every function. Idea is great but needs tweaking. Wish I got the key fob remote instead. Please update. Thanks ☺
Password and pin authentication take a tremendous amount of time. Coupled with a system that has inconsistent communication errors and the entire process is tedious. From app open to car start takes about 2-3 minutes, but you can't just let it work without ensuring that no errors have occurred.
Very slow response and every time you have to enter PIN. Really annoying. Better to carry bulky key fob rather than this lazy app. Mazda don't even care about fixing it even after so many bad reviews.
The whole experience is near awful. It's kitschy and fun to show your friends but when you are at home or work and you just need it to start and not fart around with it, it takes nearly 1:30-2:00 to start. Would prefer the fob based one. I hope they just switch this to free since it sucks so badly. Edit: why now do you need to track how I use my other applications? This went from garbage to dumpster fire.
Doesn't save password and requires login and PIN every time you intend to use. Seems redundant and slow. Car turns off when you open the door to get in, beats the purpose of remote/mobile start. Why is the app asking for security permission to access other apps? this is fishy, bad software development at best. Works, just slow and can be improved
Way too much to start car. I password and then a pin then got wait to connect. I seriously flawed. Should have ability to save password or be able to bust log in when phone is unlocked. Come on already, get with the times. My bank is easier to log into.
I thought I had seen a few bad apps but this one takes the cake and since there is no alternative, you're stuck with this awful time consuming experience. Took off 1 star for not supporting finger print authentication. Another star for taking about 1-2 minutes to complete any operation and a third star for complicated work flow very different from the pleasurable driving experience the car provides. In the end it does work but it is so painful to use. Please Mazda, make it better for your consumers.
Where do I start? 1) The fact that you have to log in rewriting username and password then enter a PIN to start your car is frustrating beyond all reason. Use the fingerprint sensor! 2) once you do start the car on the app it will be at least 20 seconds until your car actually starts 3)as soon as you get in the car your engine shuts off so you have to restart it. 4) the interface is something straight out of 2007. My Moto Droid wants its app back. For the money use a more reputable smart start system
Turning off your car when you unlock it defeats the purpose of warming up or cooling your car. This should be an option. It really doesn't control the climate controls. You have to set them before you turn it off. My first remote starter so I still think it is pretty cool.
This is the worst app I have ever used. I agree with all of the other reviews, it takes too long, it couldn't find my car, I don't know how the panic button would be useful since it takes a few minutes to load. I wish I would have read the reviews before I bought this POS. I back up fob would be great
What a waste of time. IF it works, it takes me four or five times to get my car started. Again, IF it even works. I am shocked that Mazda even thinks it's appropriate to have such a craptastic app on the market.
UPDATE2: Who do we talk to about a refund for having this installed on my Mazda6? This app is a complete waste of money. Almost always having issues, totally unreliable. Shouldn't have been released. I want it swapped for a key fob mobile start. UPDATE: app works about 30% of the time. Literally nothing will get it to work aside from going to my car and starting it, and then sometimes it starts working again. At this point I don't even use it. Anyone know the refund process? This app is garbage. Login takes 45 seconds on my Pixel XL. Every action takes 30 seconds to a minute. Completely inconvenient. Why do I need to fire up the app, accept my session has ended, type my password, log in, wait 45 secs, click auto start, type in my 4 digit PIN, and then click start car. Come on folks. Give us fingerprint login and let the car start. Don't need this much security just to start the damn thing.
Why would a mobile car starting app need permission to track usage of other apps? It sort of feels like Mazda is counting on us being willing to accept that because we have already sunk the investment into the mobile start system.
Whoa. The permissions that this app requires from your phone is just wrong wrong wrong. Nobody should feel comfortable with this app on their phone. Just compare what the app does compared to the permissions it requests. It's some serious big brother-level of access required.
Mazda please fix the way we sign in. Why so many steps? It takes away the convenience of the remote start from a phone. Edit: I found a quick fix to help speed up the agonizing slow processes. Use Dashlane app to auto fill then use the tap 'start engine' when log in option. It really help :)
Stuck in loading and won't open after the update. Now I can't use it at all. Too long to start the car when it was working and the car shuts off when you open the door, so then you have to restart the car. Poor design, Need much fixing.
EDIT: Noticed a new version 2. Was very excited! Surely mazda fixed stupid PIN entryeverytime, after every review mentions it!... NO. Version2 doesnt fix anything. I see no difference, except it now wants to track things.... ARGH. My next car will not be Mazda! --- Got this on my 2017 Mazda 6. It kind of works. But very cumbersome. It takes some time to execute commands. Okay, I can live with that. Beats walking to a cold car. But - you have to login every frikinig time. "remember me' checkbox during login does not work. AND then, on top of loggin in every time - you have to enter PIN number. Simply ridiculous. You can get to your bank account simpler than that.
Useless. Why did Mazda bother. Just purchased 2017 mazda 3 and have been trying to open up an account with MMS. It won't even allow me to sign in. I've checked my data entry numerous times. This app and mazda option that I paid $550.00 for is useless. What a joke.
Normally I don't review apps but this just takes the cake. After buying a brand new 2018 Mazda 3 this has been the most disappointing part of my purchase. The car and it's interior is beautiful. This seems like a polished turd that they call gold. 1) who's idea was it to turn off the car engine as soon as you open the door? If I can drive without the keys what would happen if I accidently drop my keys in the road when I've already started my car? Doesn't it turn off already? 2) another 'bright' engineering idea: the app makes you login with a secure password every time you use it AND enter a pin before you do anything. What the hell is the point of the pin? Don't I already have to unlock my cell phone to get in? 3) the augmented reality trick to find your car is useful. You know what could be more useful? A map! You know for those of us that don't end up anywhere near our car. It's taking the systems greatest selling feature and limiting it. Overall this sours the otherwise great Mazda ownership experience with an incomplete app that surely seems to have been forgotten and left behind since it's development.
Faster to run down stairs and start than try to use the app. Wow I regret paying 750 extra, and on top of that 65 a year.
Total garbage!! Never works.. always communication error on network!! It work once for me and always no network try again!
There's so much wrong with this whole system I don't know where to start. The most recent permission requirement just takes the cake.
App is a pain to log into and required a password and pin every time to log in and start car. Once car is on if you want to turn rear defroster on you need to stop car turn it on then restart the car. Can't control HVAC systems with this, you need to leave it on when you shut off the car. Really slow and a pain to use, poor execution and annual fee to use, this really is bad all over. Should be free since it is so limited to use
This app is terrible. It has worked one out of 35 attempts times so far. I spent 750 to get it installed in my car and now it is 65 per year for the app.
I literally never use this, having to log in every time and password takes too much time and then the car shuts off, it's too expensive, will not renew in Dec on my 2016 CX 3
Works intermittently. When we started to get snow and it 10 degreea outside, it decided to quit working altogether. Called Mazda to try and get ahold of people at the app to tell me if there is an outage. There is no way to contact them. Was told to take my car in to have a diagnostic test ran on the wiring...for $150. Other than that, they don't have an answer for what's going on. I highly doubt it's a wiring issue, but since also many people seem to be having the same issues there may be some sorta flaw. All of this could have been avoided if Mazda could've just provided manual key fobs for the remote start. Why they didn't, I don't know. You can buy the fobs of course. But then you also have to pay for installation and programming. I love my Mazda, but this is enough to make me want to trade it in for something else. This app is a complete waste
Too many steps to start car. Settings don't save. Takes forever to communicate with car. Connection issues 50% of the time.
App is slow and requires suspicious permissions. Emails to the Mazda developers has proved worthless.
Did a small update to my phone and their is the only app that cares. This app has locked me out of the app. Makes it very unusable. Weeks later there is no real solution. How much did I pay for this accessory? Six weeks and they still aren't giving me help.
Terrible slow log in. They better make this app free before my one year complementary use expires
Totally worthless. Takes forever to get into the system then forever for it to start. Please update this stupid p.o.s app!!!!!
The application interface is ok. The Mazda Mobile Start itself is a waste of gas. The car shuts off upon entering it to start driving. What a waste and worthless feature.
Worthless. Mazda made a huge mistake with company. It is slow.realky slow.you have to log in everything you want to use it..then you have put in as pin number. Stupid!!!
One of worst Apps I have used. What a waste of money. Communication failures, takes forever to load...terrible!
App requires usage access. This means the app can track your usage of other apps. Why is this necessary?
Way too slow and cumbersome to use on a daily basis
I would like this APP to be updated so that is logins in quicker. I would also like to see the autostart easier to turn on and not have to put in an additional code in for it to work.
There is an option despite what everyone says to log in and start the car at the same time . You need to present the button under your log in info. This mobile start is basically texting your car so the wait times are about as long as a text message to the person beside you. The ford one is loads better but it's not as bad as people are saying. Better than a simple aftermarket starter as the range is almost limitless.

This is one of the worst rated apps in Play Store. So many apps allow for the user to decide when to sign back, time between sign in, and/or use fingerprint. I don't want to enter password and pin every time I used the app it's pointless and awkward. Does anyone read these reviews? Please change the app between the sign in problems and car communicaton latency it's almost unusable. With that.... Now I plan ahead to start car so I have found some utility in it.... Hence 2 stars.
