About Email Spam Blocker

Directions:
1. Press "Accounts" to setup an IMAP account
2. Press "Check Connection" to verify the account details & get the folder list
3. Select a SPAM folder to use from the folder list
4. Train the automatic filter and create your own black list rules to block SPAM
[Note: This app *cannot* be used with POP3 accounts because POP3 does not support server folders. Your only SPAM filtering option for POP3 is your primary email APP. If your email app supports SPAM filtering, it will create a private local SPAM folder to store any potential SPAM.]

Automatically detects and moves SPAM from the INBOX to the SPAM folder.

[Please note: The app does *not* auto remove SPAM from the INBOX of android email apps unless the INBOX is set to resync with the SERVER. The auto detector requires USER training, pressing thumbs UP and DOWN icons on the HISTORY page]

Filtering:
 • Auto: Uses a machine learning program to make intelligent SPAM filtering decisions.
 • Blacklisting: Define rules for emails that should be blocked [Ex: Subject is "Viagra"]

Training:
 • Baked SPAM: The app is able to detect common SPAM phrases upon first use [Ex; "Act now", "While supplies last"]
 • User Training: On the history page, press the thumbs up and thumbs down icons to accept the auto spam filter's decisions.
 • Adaptive: The auto SPAM filter will use the emails that you certify to make better decisions in the future.

Good to Know:
 • Mail Support: IMAP, IMAP IDLE and passwordless GMail authentication [OAuth2]
 • Completely private! Your data/email NEVER leaves your device!
 • No subscription fees since the processing is performed locally

The Science:
 • Bayes Filter: Recursive Bayesian estimation, also known as a Bayes filter, is a general probabilistic approach for estimating an unknown probability density function recursively over time using incoming measurements and a mathematical process model.
 • History: The approach to SPAM filtering used in this app is based on a paper called "A plan for SPAM" by Paul Graham: http://www.paulgraham.com/spam.html

What are users saying about Email Spam Blocker

by F####:

Works extremely well! I'm puzzled at all the bad reviews here. Once I entered some blacklist filters on my Galaxy S8 Plus, the app went right to work, blocking at least 90 percent of spam. My email is POP3, not IMAP; could this be the reason?

C70%
by C####:

It doesn't tell you how to use it

C70%
by C####:

Even after training, hasn't moved a single email to the spam folder. Good concept. Poor functionality.

F70%
by F####:

This apps do nothing, is a waste of time.

C70%
by C####:

This app is absolutely useless. Hasn't stopped anything, despite going through all the processes to educate.

C70%
by C####:

Rubbish. I have had no let up of junk in my inbox since installing. It seems unable to grasp simple keywords in the subject matter like 'payday advance' or 'free bet'. It also can't identify that an email from a sender address that is reported as 'null' is surely spam, how is this even possible?

Y70%
by Y####:

Some users have given it a bad score but you need to train the app so it knows what is spam. After 2 days it was successfully detecting 80% - after a week nearly all. You also have to specify the spam folder it needs to move spam to otherwise it won't remove. Very good!

U70%
by U####:

After some training it is starting to identify spam more accurately BUT it only copies the messages to the junk folder, it does not move them so they still appear in my IN BOX - Grrrrr! Not much use without the ability to move spam emails!

C70%
by C####:

It recognizes blacklisted words but still puts the spam emails right in with the rest of my mail. That's after setting it to deposit them in the spam box. Uninstalling.

No instructions for thumbs up or down and how do we move the emails from the spam box to our email in box? Please reply!!! ????

You get up to 200 blocks. I purchased the unlimited version and it never worked. Have tried to contact developers to get directions and received no help.

Doesn't move email to spam folder using default android email app. Basic looking GUI (but good feature set). Unbelievable you want to charge for it at this stage
