Bluetooth work fine for the first 4 times I used the smoker now it's not connecting I Uninstalled the app but it's still not connecting also try to create a new smoker profile, this sucks the only reason I got this smoker was because of the bt capabilities but now I can't connect SO WHAT'S THE POINT GETTING IT FIFTH TIME USING IT CAN BT WON'T CONNECT. WON'T RECOMMEND THIS TO ANYONE

The Bluetooth disconnects way too often, which wouldn't be a big deal if it reconnected smoothly or on it's own. The app for my phone is almost worthless. I was able to change the temp from my phone one time and somehow it got set to 800°, which isn't supposed to be possible. This could be a great app and I'd be willing to give five stars if the app would just function like it's designed to. Shouldn't be a hard fix.

The App is easy to use. Have no connection issues until I walk out of range of the Bluetooth but reconnect easy when back in range. The one thing this app really need it's an alarm setting where you want the temp to be on your meat when using the built in thermometer. So for now have to use my other thermometer set up.

The app is a great idea and I believe Masterbuilt should follow though with it. They really have some bugs to work out but I haven't seen any updates till address the problems. Hopefully they invest some time into Creston a reliable app. The smoker is great but don't buy the moor expensive model until it actually works.

As many other users have said, this app is a disappointment. All i could get it to do is show time remaining and current temp. At one point while trying to get the temperature to adjust i somehow got the 899 degree setting others mentioned. I had to power off then back on to get it to lower back to my setting. Deleting the app, let me know when it actually works.

Well the Bluetooth worked once for me then not all after that....called tech support and they said it was a "known issue" and I would just have to wait for an update....sounds like they need to invest more in their software developers if they are going to market a Bluetooth product. This is my first "Masterbuilt" smoker and so far I am not impressed by the Bluetooth capabilities. Perhaps the smoker will perform better than the software.

I deleted this garbage app. Will not connect to my smoker anymore. Masterbuilt makes a great smoker but should leave apps to people that know how to do it. HORRIBLE APP!!! Cannot create my own alarm names, set food temp alarm and worst of all, if I set the temp with the app, the smoker set well above 800 degrees. These need fixed and for now, I don't trust this app.

This app really sucks. It worked a little at first but then it set my smoker temp up over 800 degrees! Way too hot. Now, it will connect but I can't get the control screen up. It has the current time and temp on the bottom, but when I touch the up arrow to bring it up, it will not slide up no matter what I do. what a POS. I hope the app gets fixed soon because the bluetooth function was a big reason that I bought this particular smoker.

Would be nice if it worked. It connects but after the initial connection you have to uninstall the app and reinstall it again. It hasn't been updated since February of 2016 obviously not a high priority on the companies to do list.. disappointed that you would sell something but not maintain your app.

Same as everyone else. Decided on this smoker because of the Bluetooth. It is basically worthless. Will only stay connected if your are within a few feet and the functions within the app only worked once. Now it has been stuck on the home screen for months which only shows the smoker temp. Can't set reminders, can't view meat temp. Would be an awesome feature if only it worked.

Bluetooth doesn't work consistently. Worked initially and then in the middle of my first smoking session Bluetooth disconnected and was worthlessness the rest of the time. Way to get people to spend more money on an "upgraded" model that doesn't even work as advertised. Do NOT buy this model smoker until Masterbuilt decides to correct the problem!

Connecting to the device isn't intuitive. If you click on the "connect" button then all functionality is disabled. Close the app and restart it and instead click only on the "off" text button and it will connect via Bluetooth and all functionality will work as expected. This isn't the way you would expect for it to function. Off means a state and connect is an action, but their intent is reversed and disables the app when the buttons are used as expected.

App (and therefore Bluetooth features) are worthless in their current state. Pathetic. This isn't rocket science. Like others have reported, it randomly jacks up the temperature to 899 degrees but the app still shows the correct desired temperature.

This app worked well the first time. Since then when connected, which appears to only work within 15 feet of the unit, I can only see the unit temperature and time left, nothing else. Cannot adjust any settings, as I did the first time. I agree that if properly functional, this would be an awesome app

Once it's connected that's the end of it. You can see the smoker temp but nothing else. First time it would let me set the temp, check the meat thermometer even set reminders but even the reminders set don't respond. Very very very bad app. Such a way of money. Would have bought a much cheaper smoker if I'd known the app was this bad.

This app will bring up what my smoker is doing but won't let me change any setting, or set any alarms. Flat it it sucks, and Masterbuilt should be ashamed that they allowed this to be put on the market

Love the idea of it, but both times attempting to use it, smoker went WAY above temperature without any warning at all. That would be terrible if it decided to catch fire and I wasn't right there to contain it. In which case, what is the point of this app?

Almost a waste of time. Bluetooth disconnects too much and when it does reconnect, all reminders that were set are gone. The app is a great idea but needs some work. It also would be nice to access recipes from the app but considering the issues with the app already, that would be expecting too much...

It's as bad as everyone says it is so if you want to ruin you next meal go ahead and use this app! I can't believe that they haven't fixed it yet. If I would have read these reviews before I would have bought the kreager

When the app first opens or is restarted (by force stopping the application and re-opening it) it works well until the first disconnect due to proximity. The Bluetooth range is not very long and any disconnect causes the app to go into a cycle of reconnections. Additionally, there are random set temperature jumps that occur during the reconnections. Hopefully, there will be an effort by the company to improve the app until it works properly. Until then I wouldn't recommend using it.

I liked the app before when it was all button presses instead of sliders. I know a degree here and there doesn't matter but trying to get it set takes longer this way. Also if you exit the app and go back into it later the temp slider is down to 35 degrees and it makes me concerned about the temp staying were I set it.

It does not maintain the temperature setting unless the app is open. I shouldn't have to keep the app open for an hours long smoking process. Running in the background is fine, obviously. But I either have to open the app and leave it open the entire time I'm smoking or open it every 10 minutes to reset my temperature. So this essentially defeats the purpose of our purchasing a Bluetooth compatible smoker.

The smoker is great. However, the app sets the temp to 800 degrees if you use it to set the temp. The only work around I have found is set the temp manually and monitor with the app. The app connects from inside my house so I am not sure if it is due to types of device's bluetooth used that causes connectivity issues.

This app remains active on the screen. There is no way to lock in settings. I was smoking a pork butt @ 225 for 13 hours. Everything was working fine. About six hours in, I noticed that the temperature was down to 95. The only thing I can figure is that app became live in my pocket and I butt dialed the temperature down. A control lock would be nice.

Works decent. On the first use, I did the initial setup of the smoker through the app. Later, I found the smoker temp to be way too high. I suspect this might be a glitch from my phone getting out of Bluetooth range, and the smoker then not having a temperature setting to maintain. The app would benefit from being able to set an alarm based on meat temperature sensed at the probe.

This app would be great if it was actually easy and convenient to use. However. When you exit the app, it automatically resets to 35*. This is extremely frustrating that you have to have the app running the entire time in order to keep the temp. Fix it. In think regular push button instead of sliders would be a lot easier. It seems as if you went for the "cool" factor, but made the app a pain to use.

Works good enough but has some bugs. Can't stop timers from beeping sometimes. Can't connect sometimes, or it just cycles connecting/disconnecting (S5). Have to close my keyboard to see some options, like in the handy pre named timers section. The slide to set temp and time is very sensitive. Having a 10 key option would be nice. After a lockup and restarting the app, temp is reset to 35. - Love the smoker and whole idea of this app, just needs some work.

It's a good start to what I hope will someday be a great app. Bluetooth range is not great, doesn't usually reconnect automatically. No alerts for internal meat probe. Doesn't sync the manual changes to temp and time to application very well at all.

Have not been able to connect the Bluetooth since I bought the 30" smoker on Feb. 27th. This is the main reason I bought this smoker. My S5 recognized the smoker but will not connect. Very agrevating! Hope this issue is resolved soon!......Update July 4th 2016....Finally Bluetooth is working!..so far. As long as it keeps working this is a great thing!

Warning! The when you set the temp on the app the smoker might heat without stopping at your desired limit. I have a 30" materbuilt pro digital electric smoker (model 20072415). This happened the 3rd time I used this smoker. I set the smoker to 215 with the app and when I came back an hour later the smoker was at 270, with the heating element still on. When I tried to change the temperature it cycled from 815 to 890. After I restarted the smoker I was able to set the temperature on the smoker itself.

Set for 220 and monitored for 30 minutes. Thought hey, this is great. Next thing I know my unit is running at 253 and still heating. Won't rely on this for anything. Will continue to use the smoker to determine if it's the unit or the app. Looked at setting on unit and it indicated 800 degrees. It's the app. Please fix.

Its been repaired now and works as it did prior to the bad previous update. All good now. Wow hard to believe update total trashed any use and developers did not have a clue. Worked fine first two months then I updated it without checking other reviews first. Now no workie at all. Another lesson that you do not fix something not broke.

It keeps crashing. When it does, it randomly chooses a new temperature, usually if 800+ degrees. Nothing like having it set at 225, but you realize that the smoker is over 350. Wishing I had ordered the one with a standard wireless remote.

When it works, it is incredibly convenient. But when I use it, it invariably turns the heat off. After several attempts, including connecting and then just leaving my phone on the coffee table, I have given up. Very disappointing.

I just bought this thing and everything works fine as it should! Literally just finished putting it together and I'm starting to season it, Bluetooth hooked up and turned it on with my phone! I don't know why everybody else is saying the notwithstanding don't work. Just turn on Bluetooth, hit scan, then in the smoker hold down the temp until beep then on your phone hit connect. I'll update after I use this more

Paid well over 300 for this smoker. Didn't care for the Bluetooth app, but worked out to be part of the better smoker deal @ Sam's Club. Got the app, and is terrible. Connects very random, and has never stayed connected. Will not reconnect, either. I just use the timer on my phone, and I'm gonna say bye to the app. As for the smoker itself, took a week for me to receive the parts for assembly. Overall, app gets a <1 star, company(customer service) gets a 2 star, smoker itself gets a 3.5.

Just breaking out the smoker this year, it connected like a dream, but didn't there used to be a meat temp alarm? I swear there was last fall, but now it isn't there? That is one of the most useful tools to someone trying to multitask! PLEASE ADD THIS FEATURE!!!!

I bought this smoker for the ease of the Bluetooth. That was the whole seeking point. The app is crap. A company like mastetbuilt should be to a higher standard than this. Is there antithetical app that can connect to my MES?

The app keeps setting the smoker temp to 899 degrees. The heating element was on and the smoker temp climbed above 350. Who knows what temperature it would have climbed to. Besides ruining a brisket, this could have melted or damaged the unit. Possibly even started a fire. Won't be using the app anymore. Frustrating to pay extra for the Bluetooth model and now i can't enjoy it. I love the smoker. The app needs serious fixing.

It works. I get about 50ft before it starts to lose connection. So not too bad. Be great to have some sort of social media avenue to take pics, screenshots, etc to send to buddies.
