Mail Tap - Morse Code Keyboard for Android
Help me help you: I'm looking to improve Mail Tap and need your help. Please email me comments and suggestions on how to make it better.
Supports punctuation! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morse_code#Letters.2C_numbers.2C_punctuation
As an added bonus we have designed this version of GMail Tap to be multi-lingual from the get go. If your alphabet has an 'a' and a 'z' we're the keyboard of preference for you! Multi-bueno!
To use you will need to enable the keyboard from the Settings menu under the 'Language and Input' area. Then you will have to set as the active keyboard either by long pressing an input area and selecting 'Select input method' or via the "Select input method" item in your notification bar.
Features
- Shift: We've bought you the entire range of upper and lower case characters
- Reference guide: A handy crib sheet for those of you not so up on your morse yet
- Two keys: dash and dot
- Space bar: added to increase typing speeds
- Ship to shore mode: activates your phone's flash to communicate with other power users across an ocean (of people)
- Sounds: enjoy a fully immersive typing environment
- Full morse support: now you can send email, write code and communicate with friends in foreign languages!
Coming Soon
- Table tap: microphone enabled off screen tapping
Please help with translations if you can, I'm pretty sure they're wrong! Email me if you want to contribute
Warning: for users with strong lock-screen passwords - make sure you are familiar with this new exciting out-of-this-world classical input method before locking your phone!
Update Log
It would be better if you can add an option to have an alphanumeric keyboard button just in case you need to type the message faster especially those punctuations that aren't available here that i had to change my keyboard entirely. Plus you could add a resize option to the since this virtual keyboard doesn't need to take that much space and to maximize the screen view. And please add an option to add the cursor keys since there is still enough space here. (this review is entirely written using your Mail Tap Keyboard!)
I'm about ready to see about creating an app that uses morse code the right way....
well done
I like it. wish it could do straight key. the big buttons are nice, but the space and backspace are awkward. If you made the dot and dash thirds, you could put del over space in the last third.

I have tried them all and this has been the best so far. It should be at the top of the list.
Honestly, this is the best morse keyboard that is actually usable, from what I've seen so far.
this is so much fun!
Yet to use
This is the app I had been looking for! There's no press to send button and you can disable iambic mode, which is how I've been learning. You can even switch keyboards with a button. One problem is that autocapitalize doesn't work right. I'm typing with the keyboard right now!
Very good. Echo of Morse characters often gets garbled by auto complete apps like google search. Needs switch in options to turn this feature off. Typed using Mail Tap.
If I was able to create my own morse keyboard app I can't think of anything I would do differently than what Mail Tap does. It's a great keyboard replacement. It's the only app of it's kind that I've actually tried but I see no reason to try others. I considered every similar app that I could find but I liked this one's description and user comments. I'm happy with my choice. It works. I couldn't find instructions for accessing the options screen. By accident I discovered that pressing and holding the lower left keyboard key does it. At first I thought a larger delete key might be helpful but the more practice I get the less I need it. Many thanks to the capable programmer who seems to be genuinely interested in it's success. I made a contribution because it's so useful.
Does exactly what it says on the box... Great for cleaning up that fist before annoying people on the air with poorly readable code. One little thing (not a real problem): The iambic mode checkbox toggles the wrong way around, so unchecking it actually enables iambic mode and vice versa.
It lack local codes (I need Hebrew but this also true for those who need Greek, Russian, ...). A button to link to a donation page would be good

Learn Morse code and this app will increse your typing speed
I am a ham radio operator, this is the. Coolest thing ever
Great app!
I luv this app it just take too long to learn!
Really enjoying learning morse code. Learned so much in just a few hours. I typed this review with it.

Typing this with it, quite good really but still deciding, thanks. Morse flasher doesn't seem to work on s4.
cool
The good: shift key, ref sheet, optional sounds The bad: del key too small, enter key almost off screen
An option wherein you could somehow turn off the sound would come handy. Overall its a good app.
For every geek in the world who knew it was an April fool and still wanted it ;-)
there are other morse apps, but this one is fast, and gives audio feedback. on my device the audio is too laggy, but I have an old device and I bet it works fine on newer phones. some ideas for improvement: - allow iambic mode to be able to hold down the . or - keys to send multiple - allow use of volume rocker (in iambic mode) rather than touchscreen - quick reference guide (as mentioned by others)
SHOULD MAKE A NICE THEME FOR THESE APP AND A FULLSTOP AND LOWER CASE QUICK FIVE STARS IF DONE
Overall very fun to use. Only things it needs is a key to switch between upper and lower case letters, and the ability to change keyboards without going into phone settings.
REMINDS ME HOW RUSTY I AM. THE MORE I USE IT THE BETTER I WILL GET. THX.
A visual cheat sheet would be handy to learn code. Also, a button to shift between upper and lower case.

The speed is a little laggy and the sound is horrid. But if you know morse it's a fun little app. I don't think that the developer is refining it further and that's sad because it is a good start on what could be outstanding.
