Really cool, works very well, i noticed mainly one thing missing, full support for radios, you probably have already planned it for a future release but just wanted to let you know.

Once I figured out that I had to restart the desktop app after enabling the playback API, everything worked perfectly! No latency issues at all, and the theme automatically matches my desktop theme! Very nice.

Can't get it to connect. Turned on playback API, firewall taken care of, and tried setting custom IP

Amazing program for desktop, have used it for a long time and does amazing things, but the issue is that I cannot connect to my pc from this application from my phone. I tried to manually enter my IP address, but it did not work. I tried to restart the application, but it still did not work. I also tried to manually allow the application access in the firewall, but it already had it. So please clarify how to to connect or fix this issue. I am running android 7.0 on Lg v20 and Windows 10 on Dell inspiron 15 7000 series

Great app! Does exactly what its advertised to. Looks great, has great functionality and is super responsive. Would love to see thumbs up/down functionality added. I love the volume control options from within the app, but have also noticed that changing the volume outside of the app (in lockscreen or via my pebble) would not change the volume of the playback on my PC. This is understandable since the volume of the playback on the PC is not directly linked to the device volume of the controller. Another issue I've noticed is that the device cannot control the playback while in battery saver unless the device is unlocked. I.e. cannot control from my pebble or from lockscreen. Again, this is understandable as battery saver restricts wifi communication when locked. Would love to see workarounds for these tough issues as well playlist/queue control so I can switch playlists from the controller.

I could never get it to connect really. A lot of times it would register my computer after searching for awhile but would still not say connected. Now running linux and I can't find any information on what to enable to try to connect it in linux because I only see the json api not the playback api to enable. Any help would be appreciated but right now I can't give a good review. If it connects or some support I would gladly give a great review. It seems good if it works.

It's a great app and really does it job. But a few things here and there would make it even better. For example: add Radio, add a browse function and improve the search function. You probably already work on these features or maybe you can't even realize them at all. However if you know what to play it's the best app you can get.

EDIT 2: Recently I gave this software a new try and you guys improved it so much! Really nice work! Working perfectly here now! Keep up the good work!!! -- Original Review: Well... This app doesn't work here. Android 6 + Windows 10 updated. Enabled API on the Desktop player. Both devices on the same subnet. Tried everything (even disabling the windows firewall altogether). Also tried manually inputing my desktop's internal IP address on the app. Nothing worked.. sorry. EDIT: Yep, I enabled JSON & API and used my desktop's internal IP.. in my case 192.168.0.10.. also disabled windows firewall.. I'm gonna try your web socket solution and get back to you.. Thanks for helping me!

Seems like a nice app, but it doesn't work for me at all. It can't find my computer, so I put in the IP manually. The code pops up on the desktop but the app just constantly crashes if I try to open it. I've force closed, restarted the phone, and reinstalled the app with no changes. I submitted a crash report and hope to revisit the app soon since I really want to use it.

The desktop program is great but the app doesn't seem to work or detect any device even after even activate the playback API and insert my computer's IP address. And funny how I can't see any screenshots of this app actually working. Even here. If its just "activate the playback api on the desktop settings" why there isn't any screenshots of it working here?

Great app. It could use a couple more features though, like gestures to change track like in the GPM app. Edit2: The remote has now consostently stopped working with my computer. I've tried disabling/re-enabling the API, restarting the desktop app ect and no dice

Folks, bear in mind this is a FREE app. Samuel is donating his time and energy in offering a helpful service to the public. I just ask that before rating it '1 star' one would take into account the varied complexities of environment beyond his control. That being said, this app and the desktop app work wonderfully. Thank you.

I enter my IP but it keeps changing it to my roommates IP and prompting him to enter the code. We have three different computers that run GPMDP each with our accounts. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it but each time I enter my IP secs later it changes. And keeps crashing every 30secs. Update: I have uninstalled the app and cleared the cache several times with no luck. Even when I go to the IP screen and enter my IP after install when I go back to the main screen it's my roommates. Same proble

Doesn't always display all play lists, only the recent ones. The shuffle button does the same as the skip button and it crashed quite often. I really like the concept behind this app, but at this point it is still pretty buggy and not really suitable for regular use. Still, really good concept so far.

Took a few tries to get it to connect with GPMDP but now it works fine. Would like a button to toggle lyrics on the desktop.

There's basically no latency when changing up my music, and its great for when I'm playing games and tabbing out to switch songs could mean losing!

Z70%
by Z####:

Exactly what I was looking for! Some time ago I tried to achieve the same function with Chrome Remote Desktop under Linux but that turned out flaky. This app is great for house parties. The music plays from GPMDP and I control it from my phone while mingling with the guests etc. Plus the PC is locked so that guests cannot mess with it :-) hehe. After I installed the remote on my phone it would not discover my running GPMDP on the same LAN. This is most likely due to overly cautious firewall rules in my DSL router. I didn't bother to investigate since when I entered the local 192.x.x.x IP it worked. I haven't figured out how to add and remove tracks to the queue. Perhaps this hasn't been implemented yet.

App works perfectly, but the volume buttons on Android wear have no effect. The Hardware buttons in the phone work (but only in app), but the buttons on the watch screen do nothing.

Same issue as the other user. Windows 10, latest. Doesn't work on my Galaxy Note 10.1. Firewall on Windows PC completely disabled. Enabled both API settings. Tried with and without IP specified manually. No luck. Update: I closed and reopened the app on my desktop and received a message about the API being blocked by the firewall. I clicked "Fix it" or whatever and now it connected and prompted for the 5 digit pass code. However, it's still "scanning" on the device list page. Still screwing with it... edit2: It's working now. /shrug

Very glitchy. Sometimes kind of works? But it should probably be in beta rather than full release. Anyone that has gave this app 5 stars is definitely a friend of the developer.

Q70%
by Q####:

This is definitely an app that doesn't work "straight out of the box". I would love it if I could just get it to work - but it doesn't. Samuel offered help and advice but I still couldn't get it to work - and life is just too short to spend more time fiddling around with this.

Only work play, back and forward. List of playlists and tracks are empty.

Z70%

Awesome app, does what it says on the tin. There are a few features that would boost the app nicely but as Dev has stated, it's not easy and he wants it to be perfect. I'd like to be able to browse radio channels and stream from the downloaded library on my device, but maybe those will come in future developments. If they don't, I'll still be using this remote regardless. Well done Dev.

A little bit of digging to get it working, but reading some of the reviews helped. If you can't get the App to connect make sure you go to Desktop Settings on PC App, then switch on Enable Playback API, and restart the Desktop App. During Restart it prompts you if the firewall is blocking the API.

It's a great companion application. It's quick and responsive. Works even when the main program is in the background. My only thing I would comment on is suggesting to change the name of home to now playing.

Q70%
by Q####:

I'm not sure why but this app has now stopped presenting the option to add the code used to connect to my PC. This kind of makes it unusable and I've reinstalled the app several times.

Q70%
by Q####:

I had to enter ip address manually to connect. Also not getting persistent notification or Android Wear control. Otherwise awesome app Edit: persistent notification showed up on phone, just took a few songs. Still no Android Wear

X70%
by X####:

After I opened and closed the desktop player it automatically added a firewall exception for the API and I was good to go. Works really well and can even use my Android Wear watch to control playback and see album art! Thanks for adding great functionality that should have been included by default!

Great app but whenever I go to "Tracks" it doesn't do anything, and If let's say I go to Search any song and then click on it, It doesn't do anything! But don't get me wrong the app is great just fix this

I don't often review apps, but this is great! Quick and easy to set up, and works really well

Q70%
by Q####:

After a quick support email (less then half hour response time) from the Dev I was able to get this working. The app is fully capable of controlling the desktop app and is very responsive. It even pulls your search and app I do from the desktop so you can easily flip back and fourth. Amazing app system!

The desktop player is a truly awesome and needed. Even when using the desktop shortcut provided by Google (opens as its own window) it was a resource hog and does not have the settings controls like this desktop app for the PC. Ability to have dark theme and not all that orange one is great. Plus, I can now use my keyboard buttons for play/pause, forward/reverse and volume button! The remote control player for Android is a work in progress. I did get my phone to connect to the desktop app on my PC, but the controls are super laggy. None of my playlists show up and using the track search I cannot just select the track to start playing. Volume will go up as loud as the last setting on the desktop app was set. Does work with the phone's volume keys on this basis. Desktop app is soo appreciated! I'm sure the remote will come along.

Great App, WHEN it works. PC found, IP correct, shows playing title, no problem. BUT: Cant use controls. E.g. when i press pause, on the desktop app a code is shown, but no option to enter it on mobile or vice versa. WHEN it works it really is stunnig, but if not its a real PITA. Please fix. Would pay for a well working version hands down.

The idea is exactly what I want, sadly I can't seem to get it to work even having followed the instructions on the website. Enabled the API and even put in my internal IP address. No joy.

Downloaded it and couldn't get it to work. Just got a message saying "check your settings" with no indication of how to do that. Found a settings tab in top right corner which when clicked just had a circle going round and round interminably. Deleted the app in frustration.

I've finally managed to connect it but it crashes everytime, I can't even input the PIN Edit: I even restarted the phone, I can open settings and some tabs but it just freezes and then crashes.

Can't connect to desktop. It shows the code on the desktop app but on my android device there is no input field. Pressing buttons just changes desktop code. Maybe vpn issue? I'm in a Google restricted county. must turn of VPN to get android app to pick up desktop.

The desktop app is amazing. I have it on both my home and work computers. However, I just downloaded the remote today and for the life of me I can't get it to connect to my Mac. I activated all the settings and confined my ip but it just won't work for me :/

Does what it says on tin! And does it very well. Only thing that I would do to improve would be to add a volume slider to adjust the volume. 4/5 for now :) - Jacob
