DAWOSC for Android
Almost great
First, if you don't know what you're doing with this kind of thing, it will be a little difficult to get used to setting it up and take some patience, mostly because it has SO MANY OPTIONS ! but it's also unlike anything out there. Actually, there's nothing for Android other than this one and so much more custom than other platforms. And that's exactly what makes this a one-of-a-kind, other than it's the only Android osc editor available. It not only works well and the developer is attentive to what's needed (they actually answer emails and have a forum to talk about it and push out fixes fast), it has so much customization for DJ's, composers, musicians... in other words the creatives like us who like to tinker with stuff until doomsday and make it custom and our own. Really impressed and can't wait for more features to mess with.. not that there's not enough to keep you up all night now. Just got to have a little patience and follow the instructions on the website carefully until you get the hang of how to set it up (I had to email a few questions and got immediate answers), then you can get really creative. I just LOVE it.
Nice
Not free. Requires an add-on purchase to unlock all functions.
It is a wonderful app and I had a lot of problems with the setup but it really was worth all the struggle. It has a ton of options and it is now free, so what more could you really want? It's beautiful :-D
This app allowed me to create the best android MIDI/OSC studio controller I could conceive. Because of the inclusion of graphics I cam make it look like anything I want. It is responsive and ultra customizable. Once the setup is done correctly, it operates awesomely.
This is the only controller on android that gives me everything I want from a custom controller app and the developer is super responsive and open to feedback. Completely essential tool for my live performances and a lot of things would be completely impossible without this app.
A mí todo me va a fenomenal hasta ahora, pero el editor podría ser más funcional.
This is the only app I could find that offered full customization, was incredibly flexible, and ran flawlessly once set up. Though the process of opening and setting up is a little tiresome and convoluted, once you've set it up it is very easy. One issue I do have (hence the 4 stars) is that I am receiving an error when I have the same fader on two separate layouts. For example, on my main mixer setup I have faders for multiple tracks. On the second layout page I have a keyboard. I want to include the fader for the keyboard track next to the keyboard while also having the fader on layout 1. DAWOSC apparently does not like this tactic and refuses to load the second fader on the second layout. Everyone else in my layouts works well. If this could be resolved I would give a 5/5.
Seems some users are confused or expecting something different. Its at its most powerful sending and receiving OSC msgs to a software that has thoroughly implemented OSC, e.g cockos reaper. With this and a template of my own creation I can control and receive feedback on pretty much every aspect of the software be it Plugin parameters, values, labels, vu meters, selections, track statuses, volumes etc. Everything. But yes someone needs to make the kickass template first, but its early days and they will. I happy to do my own. Fiddly but great when done.
So I was looking around for a piece of software for my new tablet, that could be a replacement for the outdated and abandoned version of TouchOSC. And there we go! Easy to use if you know what you are doing, editor is sweet, with some tweaking and feedback from the dev, also doable on a mac. The best thing about this app is the dev. Amazing guy, answers to every single email, good programmer and a top lad all around. My rating - AMAZING!! Money well spent.
This is a really great app and the developer is super helpful and supportive. It lets you control devices that support OSC such as the Reaper DAW via your Phone and/or Tablet. If you wish to create your own layouts you need to download the DAWOSC Layout Editor from the developer's website and this allows you to create your own interface to do whatever you desire. The paid Unlock version allows you to use as many controls in your layout as you like, without it you are limited to only a few controls. I recommend you purchase the Unlock version to help support the great work this developer is doing, it's well worth the money. There are a lot of enhancements coming in the near future too.
Maybe if this were FOSS or even ad supported it would be tolerable, but as it is, the author is trying to charge cash money for an alpha, which really bugs me. It's just too broken and poorly documented to be viable as is. I have yet to see it receive even a single OSC message from anything, including the supplied Pd-extended router patch (JB 4.1.1 on a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0). I would gladly pay $10 or even $15 if it did what is says on the can, but sadly it is yet another bitter disappointment in the wasteland of Android music apps.
Almost great
Its an average DAW controller right now. Like ive saod a bit to basic as far as looks go and looks a lot like other controller apps out there. 4 stars when a better GUI is added. 5 stars with plug in control. Id even pay more for those features as long as I don't have to give Apple any of that money ;)
This is probably great if you like spending ages learning to program and do half the developer's job but I just want something to remotely control a DAW. When you open the app you get told to go to preferences and load a template. When you do tbis it takes you to an android file browser with no hint that you're wasting your time. You have to download a few different programs to your pc and program a template yourself then transfer it to your android device and go through more faff. It doesn't even come with

This app does a great job.
I used to use touch osc by hexler but it didn't have custom layouts for android. Then when I was browsing KVR I saw a forum post about this app and I decided to try it out. What do I have to say about it? It is amazing! Easy to use, you make custom layouts, and it's wireless. You install a driver then run a small file and bam! You have saved hundreds of dollars on physical MIDI controllers. Not to mention frequent updates. Don't spend alot of money on korg or novation. You get more controllers CUSTOM MADE for just two dollars as compared to the 60-600 dollars for normal controllers. If you're a digital musician than I highly advise you to buy this product!
I own most of the OSC/MIDI touch controller packages for Android and this is the only one that I had up and running with my own template within half an hour. I literally sit at my DAW and think "maybe if I had an XY controller for this" and five minutes later I do. They're saved as plain text files so you can make adjustments on your device too. The dev is very responsive and has fixed bugs & added features within hours (!). No Apple Bonjour, MAX or rtpMIDI required either, just puredata. Awesome job.
Nothing but exceptions. Pretty much a waste of time.
I really gave it a good shot in trying to make this app work. After spending two days following the DAWOSC website instructions, downloading multiple files, deciphering the Editors' means of making a template, then emailing myself the template file as an attachment and saving it to the SD card on my tablet ... nothing in this app worked. I'm a Protools, Ableton, and Reaper user and never had any issue with Apple daw apps. I've been an Android user for over a year and have yet to find anything in their app store that works let alone useful for serious music production.
Thx
Took me a while to figure it out... And now I appreciate its flexibility. Haven't used it for real work yet, but its a great across the room transport mechanism.
Nice

Extremely customizable. Using it with Nuendo 4, Reaper, Kontakt 5, etc, for mixing, recording, even tweaking VSTi parameters in real time. You can also use several phones/tablets at the same time. I don't know why there aren't more people using this app. Thank you, Mark, for sharing this!
