What's Changed
We’re on version 3.9.6, but hadn’t had new release notes since 3.9.0. If you hadn’t noticed, pretend we didn’t say that. If you did notice, this is for you.
We hadn’t released any new features since 3.9.0 so we didn’t want to bother you with notes (let’s be real, we didn’t want to sit down and write multiple versions saying the exact same thing). However, we did fix crashes and update support for older Android versions so we quietly made six, small updates. Hopefully this clarifies things!

It's an OK map to use when Waze isn't working.. Also I cannot stress how important it is for any software developer to release good and meaningful release notes. How else would a user be well informed on whether or not to update without risking an update to break something? Release Notes make things a lot more update friendly. Please don't skip that in any of your future releases like many developers do and like you'll did in the past recent versions...

Its great! Less than 1/3 the footprint of Maps. Not as polished in appearance, no offline maps, and no voice search out of the box. A voice enabled keyboard fixes the latter. All in all, its comparing apples to oranges. I do like the ability to share my location via text, email etc There is also a feature to compare travel expense (Uber vs fuel). The only ads are partnered roadside assistance and Uber. No nagging or banner ads.

My husband and I traveled from Nebraska to Austin to attend our son's wedding. After studying atlas map and printing out some online maps we were both exhausted. I did a Yahoo search for Star Hill Ranch near Bee Cave. Mapquest responded, and I installed the software. It was like having a new friend. Made our days in Austin, and later a day in San Antonio/Riverwalk/Alamo much more fun.

The only thing I don't like is when I'm in midtown Houston, the app won't find the right road out.. so then I'll have to turn to Google maps. Another issue is, I don't like looking at my phone when I'm driving and I'll get told my exit is coming up at the last minute. Other than that, its a bit useful.

Nice to be back to MapQuest. I had dropped it awhile ago because it wasn't accurate. It is much better now. Dropping Waze, just not a great application for android like MapQuest and Google maps. Funny how MapQuest is so so in Apple but great for android. MapQuest is simple, accurate and user friendly I wish I could set it to call my phone with directions updates or could work with old Bluetooth systems like in my 2010 car.

Puts Google Maps to shame. This app loads fast, finds your point of where you're going within seconds and unlike Google Maps that should you pass your turn off or street within seconds has a way for you to get back to your destination. Google Maps says "rerouting" and you're 3 miles down the road by the time it re-routes you. Great App!!!

Used half my data! While I was home, my phone got disconnected from my router. I was sleeping at the time, and MapQuest wasn't even on (hadn't used it in several weeks in fact). When I woke up, on the first day of my monthly data plan, over 400 MB of my data was gone, used by MapQuest. Ridiculous that not using an app requires THAT much data! Want a setting within the app so it asks me before using cell data so I have control over how my data plan is used. Seems reasonable since they aren't paying for the data plan.

These days MapQuest tends to be the butt of a lot of jokes, but I decided to see if it was possible to ditch Google Maps and was pleasantly surprised. The interface design choices are... unique, but I have yet to search for a place that it doesn't have listed and it more or less seems to have all the features that Google's app has.

First use and it is useless. I am on the south side of a river. Had it calculate a route from my current location to a place 200+ miles north. MapQuest started my route on the north side of the river. Duh? How am I supposed to get to the other side of the river? MapQuest does correctly show my location on the south side of the river, but starts my trip on the north side. Massive fail MapQuest.

I finally found a gps that you can make your own route the way you want it!!! to bad the the app has been crashing and when you go to reopen app and go back to your personal route it starts you from beginning of your route witch is not helpful when your already on the move....please fix and you can pass other competitors

This program has gotten stupid! Tried doing navigation today and it figured my current location was 30 miles away from where I really was. How ridiculous! Tried it again today and it kept trying to route me thru areas that had nothing to do with where I was actually going. Uninstalled!!

I used to be a faithful Waze user. I had to use that app to get around some of the routes Google Maps forced me to take when I knew there was another route. Now that Google owns Waze, it has fallen apart. Mapquest is now my go to Navi App!

A70%
by A####:

Love MapQuest as it is exceptional due to it does not turn off midway as others have, it gets me where I need to go without issues, and the voice is easy to listen to. I can go short or long trips without worrying. That is comforting as I get lost easy. Thanks MapQuest for being professional, reliable, and quick to respond to emails. To all of you that work there I highly recommend a raise!!!

H70%
by H####:

Great for rural areas. However, it seems to get confused if you pass your stop. If you have multiple destinations, it often jumps ahead to next stop even if you aren't quite at current stop. Love the map aspect, but the gps aspect needs some work.

T70%

Battery killer. Worst battery killing app I've ever seen. "Fastest route" option not so fast. I used the app to guide a local route with multiple stops. App was constantly dropping tracking and relocating. So much potential. Too much fail.

Every single time I get all set up, I hit something (thinking im going to edit, or see my list, etcand all my work is gone. I'm getting beyond pissed!

T70%

Very basic and easy to use. I wish the capability to log into my saved maps on my mapquest account was a feature. As it is, I have to log in on the mobile or tablet browser to access the routes I've saved. It rather makes this useless for what I need, except for quick directions on the fly.

Getting ready to take a trip and thought I would see if MapQuest had corrected issues I experienced in the past. Now I remember why I uninstalled MapQuest. UPDATE - Decided to try MapQuest again and same issues still exist. Waze and Google Maps are much more responsive to user issues.

T70%
by T####:

Easy to use, always gets me where I need to go. Hardly ever crashes or fails. Alot of options to find places you need along your route, gas, hotels, food, attractions. I love it! Much better than Google maps.

T70%
by T####:

Very easy to use and eliminates some of the extra useless instructions other apps give while driving. Features are great and easy to use though I do wish it used quarter mile rather than tenth mile increment for notices.

I love mapquest it's my go to map program on my computer and it's the only one I use on my phone, but in the last month I've tried txting my maps from online to my phone and it says it's sent but it doesn't show up and if it does show up and I try to open it, it will not open the app or load the route from the txt message. It keeps asking me if I have the app installed, then I select it but doesn't save the preference or load any maps. Very frustrating. I won't uninstall but I really need it to work.

X70%
by X####:

I use this app frequently to plan a trip and while on a trip (right now in fact). I would like to see two additions. 1 miles between stops, without adding up miles for each turn. 2 roadside attractions along the route, likely as a layer.

No audio, yes, my phone volume was all the way up & yes the settings were set to "Loud" on the app. Frustrated! If I didn't have a passenger along who read everything to me, I wouldn't have got to a completely new destination. Also kept getting message "Map Quest not responding", I restarted my phone as well, same issue no audio! Very dissatisfied, everything looks good but no audio cinches it for me. I now have to uninstall & try to search for a better driving directions app. . .this time with Audio!

N70%

Looks good until you find out it only works for people using the app in the U.S. It did not recognise any of the places I tried to type in. Surely this runs using Google maps right? Confused.

T70%
by T####:

Works great! Love how it gives more than one route choice. Would love for it to not glitch from time to time and not load resturants or gas stations when we are choosing quickly going down the road.

T70%

I have not driven the car with this app yet, however the interface itself is the best I have seen in a navigation app. If the traffic aspect of the app is accurate, it may become my new helper on my way to work.

T70%
by T####:

Yes, a pleasant UI and accuracy! My husband is a commercial driver. Our dissatisfaction with Qualcomm led me in search of paid and free Android apps to give us the best routing and user interface. I downloaded and used the following over the past 6 months : One20 SmartTruckRoute 2 Road Hunter Google maps Trucker Path Sygic Waze Copilot Truck We have only used Mapquest for a week now and we already love it! Give us another 4 weeks and we will update y'all.

This is an ideal app to have on your phone when traveling anywhere. I just wish I did not have to set my volume control each time I use it. It's not 100 % accurate all the time, but sure does always get me where I need to go.

T70%
by T####:

I like this way better then google maps I like how you can choose your route that makes it easier if there is heavy traffic. Its just way more user friendly. Love it!!!

T70%

Literally defaults to the wrong address every time. Took me to the wrong place, missed important meeting. 2nd attempt at different address, same result. I do not recommend this application

Would like a version that is colorized.. its difficult so see when it is all in black and white except where your driving.

D70%

The map app I use. It doesn't pester me about joining some social network as does Brand W, and almost never tells me to take turns that it then has to take me out of, which Brand G, the data miner, has done at least as frequently.

Use to work great. Last 6 months is very undependable. Re-installed it & was okay for while until today. Have to use Google now...don't even like Google but have to have an app that works. Wish you could fix this app.

T70%

Only had one glitch when it wanted me to take road not existing in area. Almost didn't get to correct location before they closed. Super weird, never had that happen in Tucson, only Phoenix.
