MapFactor GPS Navigation Maps for Android
This app has allowed me to be much more adventurous and still feel safe. We cycled over a salt desert in Bolivia where there were no markings as far as the eye could see, but navigator kept us going the right way. Thanks! Wish there was a super easy way for me to add campsites and hotels to make the maps even better for others.
A really useful app. I was traveling with friends without my own in-car GPS system and downloaded this in place of another app. Surprised by how easy it is to use. Accurately guided along the Loire valley. Minor quibbles, eg. Command before detail: "Turn right.....in 500 metres" rather than "In 500 metres turn right". The driver's instinct is to turn right immediately. Adverts OK - it is free!
I use this app to design trips abroad. It is very usefull. I like it becuase it is offline app and it is free and it is a very good navigation systen. It has a lot of tools and options. I used it in south America, Roky Mountaians, and Europe, and it works very good. Its disadvantages is that you can not get all online information as in waze, and address is only itersection between two streets.
I love this app. Is free version but if you want to go premium buy all the maps and much more is cheap as well. I bought all maps and all premium plus trafic great great great thank you is working fantastic. Some people said there's some issues but I can't see them. Working fast, update fast hopefully they will be stay the same.
I have problem to download the free version of maps. If I select the Czech and Austria maps and start download, then it always ends up on bad checksum screen after downloading the sound signals. It does not even matter which language I choose. I tried both version of English and Czech. Is there a way to fix this? I am on wifi and the internet works fine
Back to the good old days. Great GPS utilizing much better technology. Not need of an unreliable expensive network and good to go anywhere in the world. My last trip using the cellular network with an ultra fast processor was terrible. We Couldn't reach any repeaters until we got closer to town. The maps are saved on your external SD card. We're going to contribute to this service pronto. Thanks!
Update, been using this for years now and it is brilliant. Support is quick and effective (on the rare occasion I have needed it). This SatNav software really does take you down the roads you would use yourself, unlike other SatNav software that uses completely inappropriate routes. I tried 4 different sat nav apps over last few days and this is by far the best; it will automatically choose routes I know to be best (unlike the other apps) and is far more customisable.
Useless navigator! Although we know it is a offline map cannot change destinations unless you go online and route info is not accurate. Irresponsible answer from the feedback team, Tomas Kaczer. Personally not recommended as had bad time when i used it for my holiday destination. Offline google map is more reliable than this.
I tried downloading maps for a few countries and download kept being interrupted and would stop completely. Going back to the app shows a white screen. Quoting the app just doesn't work so I have to reboot the phone. Too bad but I didn't get to try it at all, I give up
Was excellent but ruined by over intrusive advertising. I use for walking so open and close the app frequently to save battery. Closing screen really intrusive as it appears every time I close the app and takes loads of time. Advice ... Check if the user has been shown the closing advert already today and suppress it being repeated.
I have used this for a year now and it works great. Used it in Europe and USA with successful navigation. I hope that place names zoom more intelligently in the future (sometimes small towns clutter map while large cities are removed at times) As of July 2017, it appears that McDonalds, as a whole, has blocked MapFactor users from downloading maps on their free wifi.
Great app, ruined by really gross intrusive advertising. Really stops me using it. For clarity, following developers reply: I have no problem with advertising, but the way it has been done is difficult to clear (small x) and hangs about as a background on my home screen for ages. No problem with advertising - just poorly implemented advertising.
Generally reliable and easy to use. Display for navigation could be made clearer. Cycle routes next to useless as it just take you down main roads even if you set priority for small roads. I don't think setting priority makes any difference so perhaps that needs looking into.
If the people who made this actually tested it while driving, then they would realize how bad it is, especially when used in cities. The so-called minor problems are NOT minor. In fact, they are actually dangerous to actual drivers. +1
Works much smoother as the previous time i used this app. Gig improvements I moved to a Moto g% plus and the app tells me GPS is disabled while it is not and the app has rights to access this. Could this be because the Moto 5G plus has no compass?
Changed my rating from 1 to 5 stars. This app is indeed the best navigation app. I had problems because my phone gps was bad, not the app itself. Sorry for my unfair rating development team
This is the worst GPS I have ever tried to use. Why make this app so Difficult to use?? Developers/Couldn't you come up with a simple GPS? With out the Annoying way points.??
This is good for drivers, but not so good for pedestrians (ie when you get out and walk around) in London as NO rail or tube stations are named. And yes they do appear on the opensource map data, so it's your issue.
I back to old device mobile . but your application very bad come. why? because before if I need to search for airport by name for example I can't. why ? I don't know. Not same before this very bad thing in this application now. When I can search any place without hard I will give you 10 stars not 5
Uses open source maps so works offline. Routing is ok but can be tricky to force route to your preferences. Not perfect but one of the better apps. Certainly worth trying to see if it suits you
This is a great navigation app! Very useful. Creating routes can be awkward because identifying and re-ordering waypoints is difficult. Apart from that it's really good, I use it for car/road bicycle/hiking/motorbike navigation, maps are detailed and comparably very up to date.
Waste of 500MBytes of my monthly allowance, just to display a white screen. Tried clearing cashed - no difference. You need to over different map resolutions so that users can try the app on a low resolution before blowing their Internet allowance for nothing.
I have been using it for few years and it worked great. Now, I got new device with Android 7 and GPS and navigation doesn't work at all. Please kindly check and fix it so that I still can use it as the best one. Thanks
It does all what you need. I used it from Mongolia back to Europe and it always worked. Only sometimes it takes a "shortcut" through a city when there is a highway that would be more comfortable. This was especially the case in Russia and Kazakhstan.
It's nice to have, but I am mildly annoyed by the fact that it tells you to do a U-turn and go back to your starting point if you set a new point to navigate to. But hey, beggars can't be choosers.
It does have some annoying quirks though. The voice instructions first tell you what to do and then when to do it. For example "turn left in 500 meters ". You'd think it's not a big deal and you would be right it's not, but it's still very annoying.
I find this app hard to figure out. Its not intuitive for me anyway. After i spent 40 minutes of my life that i wont get back loading some maps, the app wouldn't start. I saw in the reviews the programmer said to delete the data and then all my maps disappeared. I loaded one map so i didnt have to go through all the BS again, and now it starts but it is difficult to figure out how to put a route in for directions. I'm sure happy I didnt pay anything for this app as I can see it getting deleted pretty quickly. coming off my phone
It was a lot better. Now it does not facilitate entering number for Street selected. It goes to intersection then to navigate. Very frustrating,! Please fix and get back to a better rating
This is a solid offline satnav app. I've been using it for several years with very few problems. No voice input, but generally clear maps and instructions. Highly recommended.
Still the BEST offline map I have ever used. Saved me the trouble of using paper map on the street. Download the map (free) of the country you're going to. Use earphones to do turn by turn Nav so you don't look like a tourist looking at the paper map at every turn.
Talk about a faff to use.. I did one route that's fine.. then I wanted to do a different journey.. and there seems to be no easy way to start a new journey. Complete and utter rubbish. . Work on the interface guys. Buy a proper app.. save the frustration Final question .. I live in wigan but want it to plan a route from say Portsmouth to london .. how the heck do I do that?
Search ability far better than the other apps, full screen map, good replacement for Google Maps. Was getting discourged with all the other map apps. Some apps the screen was very cluttered or map was only 60% of the screen, others the search option was horrible.
Still a great GPS. Now on my Moto G3. Would be 5 stars if Street names were included in voice guidance. Missed mostly in City where turns are close. Still the only app I use in Jamaica
The app is complete, although the number of the streets are not accurate by 35 meters or so. Other than that, top-3 gps apps out there.
At present it is the best navigation software, shame TomTom had to destroy theirs with the latest updated software, I have setup all the places I am going to visit and it was easy to find any place in europe. Love the continued vocal warnings however the speed limit sound is annoying...
App does not give full address search, only street name and intersection. It's a GPS app. How the hell can u not have full address/house# available! How will u really get to ur destination then? Useless app. Other free apps using osm maps have full address/house# searches and they work well. Have tried ur app for sometime now and was waiting to see if u guys would update/fix it; but still not fixed. I am sticking with Here We Go and Karts GPS. Best apps tested so far. However I do like the lane assist in map factor.
It's great that you don't need internet to go where you want. A little bit confusing on the start but now it's all familiar. Maybe open saved route should be added...
Google navigation now has an offline mode. However, it is limited as it can't download large map areas at once for offline use. Also, there's an expiry period for downloaded Google maps. This one is an excellent substitute. It always has the complete map offline. No expiry. I wish the maps were as detailed/complete as Google's maps though. Some minor & newer roads missing, & takes a while to download map updates due to mandatory peer to peer sharing. Other than those, generally very good navigation app.
Simple to operate and run, choices make it configurable for individuals. not 100% perfect but the V SMALL issues can be forgiven for price simple and usable what more do you need? small step upgrades are in right direction

Have tried several GPS Navigation Apps. MapFactor is outstanding. Very intuitive and common sense approach. GPS lock on is reliable and fast. Routing convenient and easy to modify. Number one in all ways. Highly recommend for simplicity, accuracy and ease of use. Keep up the good work. Note: I had difficulty downloading a paid map. Most probably caused by my device. The immediate support response from MapFactor was outstanding and solved the issue in short order. Extremely impressed with all.
