About Tulja Bhavani
❛❛ Shri Kshetra Tuljapur, the one amongst three and half Shakti Peethas (abodes of cosmic powers) of the state, is situated in the Osmanabad district of Maharashtra, wherein resides Goddess Tulja Bhavani. She is also described as the impressive and formidable Goddess in Hindu Puranas, who is known to combat demons and evil forces and maintain the moral order and righteousness in the universe. She is revered and worshipped all over India as Ambabai, Jagadamba, Tukai, Bhagwati, Durga, and Tulja Bhavani by her devotees who throng in millions to Tuljapur for her Darshan and for seeking her divine blessings.TuljaBhavani is also worshipped as the Family Deity (Kuldaivat), not only in Maharashtra, but in innumerable families of India, from Himalayas to Kanyakumari. In Maharashtra, TuljaBhavani worship is of great antiquity and many royal houses and their nobles have been her devotees. She is the family Deity ( Kuldaivat) of the great Bhonsla dynasty , whose most celebrated progeny was Great Shivaji, the founder of Hindavi Swarajya. Legend has it that it was Tuljabhavani who gifted the Bhavani sword to Shivaji to vanquish his opponents in the battlefield.❜❜
Tuljapur is situated in Osmanabad district and Tuljapur is well-known for Lord Shri. It is located on the hill of "Bala ghat".The former name of Tuljapur was Chinchpur.Lord Tuljabhavani is Femous and family Deity(Kul-daiwatat) of people over all India.She is also described as the impressive and formidable Goddess in Hindu Puranas, who is known to combat demons and evil forces and maintain the moral order and righteousness in the universe. The history of the temple has been mentioned in the "skanda puran". There was a sage known as "Kardabh" After his death his wife "Anubuti" had performed a penance at the banks of river "mandakini " for Bhavani mata to look after her infant child. While performing the penance the demon known "Kukur" tried to disturb her penance during which Mata Bhavani came to the aid of "Anubuti" and killed the demon "Kukur". From that day onwards the Goddess Bhavani came to be known as Tulja Bhavani. The same place is today known as Tuljapur. Nizam or Adhilshah both were not interfaced in religious things. There was about 5000 Peoples lived in Tuljapur at 1920.
While going to Temple of Bhavani. There is Main gate named as "Mahadwar".After crossing "Nimbalkar Darwaja" comes the main temple. Around the temple on all four sides there is open space for revolution.A hall(Sabha-Mandap) has eight-column and On west direction there is sanctum(Gabhara).Small images of different gods and goddess are carved on the stones. Also Gabhara is build by stones.
In center of that Sanctum we saw an idol(Devi).The idol is carved out by special black stone named as Gandhakee.Which we find in River Gandhakee. She has eight hands. Near the right shoulder there is moon and near the left shoulder the sun is carved. The idol has eight hands. Various types of weapons are in her palms. In one of her right palms she holds a trishoola (a three pointed spear) which she has stabbed in the chest of a demon Mahishasura. Her right foot is pressed on the demon. The left leg is straight on the ground. Between her two legs there is the beheaded head of a male-buffalo.
During the period of Aswin Chitra Pratipada to Astami,Paus Shudha Pratipada to Ashtami and Bhadrapad vadya Astami to Amawasya She moves towards palanga.
