Taxi Stopper makes your nighttime cab-hailing process smarter and safer.

Scenario A: It’s a rainy night, and you’re standing alone on a dark city street, desperately looking for a cab. You just saw an empty cab sitting at a stoplight and hailed it. Surprisingly, the cab pauses for a second, makes a right turn at the light, and disappears.

Scenario B: You’re standing on a corner of a major city avenue at night, trying to hail a cab. You see two empty cabs zooming your way. As they come closer, you lift your hand—zoom! Both cabs drive right past you. You must be scratching your head for an answer, right?

In both cases, it’s likely that the cabbie didn’t see your hail clearly enough to come forward or to safely slow down. The Taxi Stopper app is our noble attempt to make your nighttime street-hailing experience a little more effective by making you more visible to taxis. This app has been developed and tested in collaboration with real-life NYC taxi drivers. The app can also be used in cities around the world where street hailing is permitted.
