About the Clave
"the Clave" is a clave pattern metronome app for Android phones – with five selectable patterns including Son, Rumba, two Afro (6/8) patterns and Bossa Nova.
Tempo is variable from 40 to 200 beats per minute (cut time), and the timing is accurate to the nearest sample (22µs).
You can tap the tempo instead of changing the value manually.
Choose from low or high-pitched click, forward (3:2) or reverse (2:3) clave and there is a boost feature for when the Clave really needs to cut through.
It’s a useful practice aid, whether you are beginning to play Latin music, or an experienced sonero. And it’s FREE!

As a percussionist and percussion teacher, I have found this app to be invaluable. One small musical issue, the clave labeled "afro" is actually 6/8 rumba clave. If you start this pattern in the 2/3 position, you get 6/8 rumba clave in 3/2. I think this is a musical error, as I have never heard of "afro" clave and this is not the 12/8 traditional bell pattern. Otherwise, bravo!

The only suggestion I have is it would be nice to see rhumba clave written out in 6/8 with a triplet feel. Otherwise its a great tool. Thanks!

This app is perfect for my daily clave needs. Great job developer!! Can u make a bell pattern app too? Montuno section bell pattern, rumba palitos for guaguanco, yambu, and columbia would be a great addition. I would buy if created :-)
