Blockly is a visual drag-and-drop programming tool developed by Google that allows children to snap together commands like puzzle pieces. Take on coding challenges and invent your own creations by using Blockly to control Dash & Dot!

Learn concepts like sequencing, events, loops, algorithms, operations, and variables through self-directed play and guided challenges. Basic puzzles teach the concepts of coding through playful project ideas, allowing kids to learn and explore all on their own. Bonus puzzles are added each week for endless entertainment and learning.

Kids can confidently embark on their own coding adventures with their newfound knowledge, a dash of creativity, and robot buddies - Dash & Dot. For ages 8 and up.

HOW TO PLAY
- Connect Dash and/or Dot to the Blockly app using Bluetooth Smart/4.0/LE
- Start with a sample project or start your own projects from scratch
- Navigate Dash through a maze or around your home, using object detection to avoid walls
- Dash & Dot know when they are being picked up and moved. Program them to sound the alarm when there is a disturbance!
- Program Dash & Dot to do synchronized dances and moves with lights, motion, and sounds

New update now works perfectly with the Hudl2. Well done :)

T70%

The update won't connect to my dash . I am tired of it connecting and failing. Need help updating

T70%
by T####:

It would be great if it implemented a more full version of Blockly - Logic, mathematical operators, and deeper exposure of Dash's sensors. Kids can handle it, and a more full featured experience will improve longevity of children's engagement.

T70%
by T####:

Was great but no longer works. Cannot access projects page and programming page does not have start block and variables in blocks are locked. This happens on both my Samsung s4 and tab s2. It is now unuseable even though I have reinstalled it several times.

K70%
by K####:

Doesn't work. No start button , so no way to upload the project. ~$150 trashcan filler. The box it came with is the most useful part, redeeming maybe 50 cents of value from the shipping cost.

Guys as a software developer I get it takes time but 3 weeks for a big fix. Something else is getting prioritized over this big fix and that is totally unacceptable. Wonder you can do better than this

New version does NOT show the puzzles or "make your own" buttons on the tablet screen any more. It appears on iPads, but not on Android tablets. Frustrating since I'm trying to teach an entire class with 10 robots, and not all students can access the puzzles in Blockly. :-(

Doesn't work on MotoG5+. The "play" button to send commands to Dash is missing entirely.

Well I chose a 4 instead of a 5 because I am programming dash to do a skit but I don't have a dash to do the skit so if it had a preview then I would put a 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Why aren't there any instructions? How do I make Dash stop in the middle of a program if I want to make changes to it?

Unfortunately this stopped working after the Marshmallow 6.0.1 update. My class is really bummed.

Doesnt allow you to do anything with Dot. It requires you to use Dash in a driving tutorial, but since i don't have Dash, I am unable to access anything else.

Both Nexus 7 2012 (with BLE enabled) and LG G4 are not suported! Maybe you should offer your own "Android controller" in the shop as the only compatible device - that way you wouldn't need to spend additional effort to make the app compatible with other devices and you'll get even more money.

E70%

The interface runs much smoother and the new features are great!

H70%

This is a very well made robot. The software took time to catch up but is now up to the standard. More amazing things can be doen with each update. For the money (actually at any price point) no other system is as easy to set up and get running. Over time as people start to hack into this (say to allow one to program in Python or other languages) this will sustain interest and experimentation for years. Well done.

My "I wanna do it myself" 5-year-old does great with this, creates simple programs easily and intuitively. I've sometimes found it a bit frustrating for more complicated programs, but the last update fixed a number of issues. The robots are pretty fabulous, so we're enjoying seeing the apps catch up. Bluetooth seems to be working well now on my 2014 Nexus 7.

People have complained that it has taken time for apps to arrive to Android, that what this Blockly app is still only beta, somewhat limited in functionality, and still a bit quirky. Fair. But after all is said and done this is a well made robot that is becoming increasingly easy to use and extend to do amazing things. My six (almost 7) year immediately started tinkering with the new Blockly app and was testing his own programs in minutes. Sensors can be used to easily produce quite sophisticated behavior, for example having Dash chase after his screaming 3 year old ('turn toward sound'). For the money (actually at any price point) no other system is as easy and fun to set up and get running. As people start to hack into this (say to allow one to program in Python or other languages) I can see this becoming an educational toy that will sustain interest and experimentation for years.

K70%
by K####:

No indication what's happening. Most of the time, the robot just sits there and the app just sits there and nothing happens. After restarting and reconnecting both sides several times you might get lucky and Dash will execute a few steps of your program before falling into a stupor again.

by R####:

Very few features. Very laggy. Disconnects frequently.

This has been long awaited and I am very excited for my three year old to get the hang of it. Can't wait for it to be out of beta☺

H70%
by H####:

Both my kids and myself are enjoying the robots and this app. There are some issue where it disconnects and many times stops in the middle of a script, but it is a good start. Looking forward to future updates.
