About MailDroid - Free Email Application

As one of the first email clients added to the store, MailDroid focused on making email usable again. We were used to blackberry email and we wanted something like that here. We did not find anything, so we wrote our own. Give our app a try and once you see all the features it has, I promise you won't be disappointed. You can always email us and we will reply right away with help (even on weekends! Yes, we love our users!).

How is MailDroid different? For starters, it is a pure email client which means we don't have a back-end server looking at your mail. You set up your POP, IMAP, Exchange connections and the client speaks directly to the server. Second, it is powerful and yet easy to use. If you don't want to use the PGP or sMIME encryption, simply hide it. Want to use the old navigation over the new navigation drawer, your choice. Want to snooze your email or send it at a delayed time, you can do that as well! Third, we have oAuth2 to Gmail, Yahoo Mail, AOL Mail, and Outlook. oAuth2 means that the app just gets a token from those providers and does not see any password. For those of you who have had issues recently with these providers (specifically Gmail and Yahoo Mail), this is the solution! We worked with all these providers to make sure you feel super secure. Fourth, we have integrated with important and helpful third party email companies like SaneBox! Finally, we support our users! We email you back when you ask for help!!

You are our users and we have built this mail client around feedback from users. We have no agenda of what we need to add anymore, just what people want us to add. We support so many email providers automatically and for those that we can't figure out the settings for, a manual option always exists. We have added support for so many features, that many times we even forget some of the things we have added. Here is a short list:

1. Complete re-write and not based at all on the standard email application
2. Idle Push for all IMAP servers that support it
3. Download attachments to your device using any file explorer or use the built in file manager to manage your files
4. Settings Support for signature, font size, ring tone, led color, icon selection etc.
5. Custom Mail Rules
6. Spell Check
7. Search your mail online (for IMAP servers only) or offline for both IMAP and POP3 servers
8. Password Protection
9. Microsoft Exchange 2003,2007,2010, Office 365 servers
10. Full WYSIWYG editor
11. Split screen for tablets
12. Calendar integration using ICS attachment (exchange 2007/2010 and CalDav support is coming)
13. Cloud storage integration to save attachments (dropbox, box.net, Google drive and SkyDrive/OneDrive)
14. Customize your inbox styles and themes to your preference
15. Spam Filter Plugin --> REQUIRES IN-APP PAYMENT
16. Email Threaded Mode
17. Light Flow, Tesla Unread, Apex Launcher, and Dashclock Integration
18. Different notification styles and icons
19. Identities/Aliases supported
20. Backup SMTP Provider
21. open PGP support using PGP Inline or PGP MIME
22. S/MIME support for all email providers
23. oAuth2 support for Gmail, Hotmail/Outlook, Yahoo, and AOL Mail
24. Support for SaneBox
25. Much more....

OK, that was a long list, but at least we left it with Much more... instead of going on. So why are you wasting time reading any more, just download the app and mail will finally work again for you!

NOTE: This is the ad supported model, a pro version exists as well on the store
NOTE: ACTIVESYNC IS NOT SUPPORTED AT THIS TIME!
NOTE: SPAM SUBSCRIPTIONS DO NOT CARRY OVER TO THE PRO VERSION!

I have experienced problems sending, forwarding, and replying mail using maildroid app. I do not have such problems using Blue mail app. This is a serious issue that have not been resolved after many software updates.

Current version Sep 18, 2015. Subject in notification broke recently. (Android). Notification icon no longer goes away in top line even when all messages are read (sometimes, anyway). Still hate opening window. Doesn't always open in accounts tab, sometimes opens in new messages tab. Messy. Should always open in accounts tab, showing new message count. And when choose an account, backing out of it should not exit but go to the accoubts window again so can read messages in another account. Wasted clicks.

Installed this app first time after my stock app starting acting up. Like the interface but unfortunately it sends mail without sender's name in the header only email. For that reason will stop using until i find a good client.

If, as you say, S5 Finger Print Scanning is an Samsung Only Api, how to explain other App Usage of the function - Something else I just noticed. Deleting Sent Items Removes my Replies from my Inbox. They should remain (moved rather thsn simply linked to) in the Conversation, until I delete that entire Conversation. - Why am I disallowed from moving multiple emails to a folder in one go by tagging. Each must be opened and moved separately - Both Very Bad non-features.

R70%
by R####:

Its not easy to configure it to sync specified days old mail from the server and keep a copy in the phone. Search mail from online mail server also doesnt work

Ok email app HORRIBLE notifications on Android wear. Terrible battery usage compared to other email apps. About as bad battery usage as Outlook.

This app is super glitching lately. 2 thumbs down

APP USED to be great, but then update after update, app is now SO slow to open, if at all before, it just hangs, black screen, then crashes. Takes up way too many resources and DRAINS BATTERY by noon, shut down app and battery lasts all day as if app wasn't installed. Had to go to app manager and close background services ... sent reports many, MANY times but just seems to get worse with each update, but of course ADS LOAD WITHOUT PROBLEMS ... WHY would anyone pay for full version? I'm waiting until app is stable, but with every update it seems to bring new problems. Wrote this because SO FRUSTRATED with this ... may uninstall and look for something comparable that actually works and is stable. To the developer, what seems to be the problem with fixing the bugs and not create new ones? Your replies to my issues, as usual, point that issues are isolated to me, but that's hard to believe, sorry. FIX THE BUGS (ONCE AND FOR ALL PLEASE) AND REVIEW WILL REFLECT POSITIVE AND 5-STARS.

R70%

Best Android mail app. The only pop3 app I have found that allows you to create your own folders and move mail from the inbox to them. The developer replies to any query sent via email to him very quickly

T70%

So far the app looks great. How do i pay to remove the adverts?

R70%
by R####:

Great app for people in need of advanced management. Actually too much advanced, better to make settings a bit plain, seriously... Only thing needs a fix is, mails keep showing even they do not exist in server. This is POP protocol behaviour. In IMAP protocol software needs to equalize with server. And also mails left in server, even you command to delete from server inside Maildroid. I love the software but just becasue of those i keep searching alternative All bests.

N70%
by N####:

It shouldn't say 'contains ads'. It should say 'clutters up your inbox with ads'. There are ads at the bottom of the page (which is unobtrusive and fine). But recently they had the great idea of also putting ads in your inbox viewer. There are too many other apps out there that are good and not so commercial. I uninstalled this one. Update- 8/21/17. I liked the app except for the intrusive adds which I commented about above. Because I liked it I decided to buy the Pro version and get rid of the ads. It has been working great and it is now one of my favorite apps. I upgraded my initial evaluation of 2 stars to 5 and would encourage people to get the Pro version if you like it except for the ads.

Emails are not syncing or updating. It is giving an error "Subscription is Invalid" I have been us this app since few months now, how come suddenly my Subscription became invalid Tried to reconfigure mailbox but it's giving http error. I have written to Mailroid support team but no response!

Came a long way since I had a look some years ago. Covers *all* the features I was not able to find in other apps. I'm switching from K9, which clearly needs some work. There is even a no-ads version.

W70%
by W####:

Great app. From the last version this app delete emails on the server with no option to leave the mail on server. This change may force me to look for other email apps, if it will not be fixed( or at least give option to load the older version

I had really high hopes as I returned to Maildroid for the fifth time. I think they have made so many improvements. I was ready to leave AquaMail. Unfortunately, archiving in Maildroid is an absolute nightmare. Any labels that are automatically applied in Gmail are apparently ignored by Maildroid. There is no search feature when archiving so that if you have more than a few labels in Gmail (or hundreds like me), archiving a daily inbox could literally take hours as you search through your label tree trying to remember what label your sublabel is hiding in. ????

Switched from my android mail service because they changed permission requirements and i wasn't comfortable with some of the new permissions requested. A friend recommend mail droid- gave it a shot and no issues so far. My previous service had no ads so if you arent used to it they can be a little annoying at first but they dont pop up and stop what im doing so easy to ignore. Definitely worth the switch for me.

R70%
by R####:

Quite like it. I've tried many before and this seems the best so far. I particularly like its approach to privacy. Not being able to search the server of pop accounts is a serious drawback. There are lots of menu options but many of them are obscurely named and sometimes lead to equally unclear further options and there's no way to tell what they do. Help screens for each group of menus would be really useful.

R70%
by R####:

I love MailDroid, it makes it easier to keep track of all my email accounts. My only issue is sometimes there's a hiccup (like right now my accounts won't sync unless I have the app open).

K70%
by K####:

Used this app for several years Recent update appears to force default view of combined inbox. The option to display it is on but greyed out so I can't turn it off

R70%
by R####:

Simple, functional (with syncing, folders and conversation mode), and with enough customization options to not look archaic, but still uncluttered. Ads -when present - are not intrusive, and best of all, no crashes or interruptions because you refuse to give an *email* app access to your body sensor and other unnecessary permissions.

R70%
by R####:

I have had problems with this app in the past but the developer is always quick to correct any problems brought to their attention. I am happy to bring this app back up to 5 stars with all the previous issues I've had being resolved. Edit -- Oops sorry, I had in fact been saying all my issues HAVE been resolved and I thought I put in 5 stars again but it reverted back to 3, hopefully it is back at 5 stars now because this is a great free app!

MailDroid allows me to work with Certificates and PGP keys, free version is ad supported. No problem with ads they deserve it. All its competitor are demo or with limitations or paid.

R70%
by R####:

Works well at building up a personal spam cleaner database. This database should be carried over to the paid software version, when users reaches the buying point! Otherwise, upgrade is not user friendly.

U70%
by U####:

Good mail app, absolutely hate the advertising as it pops up at the most inopportune times.... Which is probably why they do it so you'll buy the app. Undecided as to whether I'll do that yet.

O70%
by O####:

great app with outdated UI, but main reason to uninstall it's horrible battery consumption, it eats more battery on my phone than screen, never experienced such power hungry app, shame because everything else in this app clicks if you overlook UI

U70%
by U####:

Two - three times a month the app starts eating the battery. Also, it has weak attachments support. Recently, I opened draft created on different client and could not save attachments from there but accidentally deleted one amd the app saved changes without asking me

R70%
by R####:

Works great love the custom features! Two suggestions: 1-notifications for individual contacts or folders only, as is u need to have the inbox notifications on, to get notifications for other folders and such. 2- color options for text in subject line during list view.

R70%
by R####:

Tells me to install latest version of chrome to setup Gmail account. I have the latest version of chrome on 7.1.1. So the app is unusable! Previous versions worked well so this is a big disappointment.

Where can I turn off the email preview so that I could read more emails (only sender & subject) per one screen?
