Better Terminal Emulator Pro for Android
I cannot type capital letters for some reason.... I just get lowercase even with shift or shift lock enabled. Update 1/20/17: looks like definitely an issue with the app. I have a completely new phone running stock Android 7.0 (old phone was 6.0.1) and still have the same problem.
Works good as an ssh client. I like that the keyboard doesn't try to auto correct Unix commands. There is one major issue though. The only way I've found to clear an invalid host key is to remove and reinstall the app. Otherwise, once you accept a key it is permanent because the known hosts file is located in a directory that the user can't access. I'm on a Galaxy Note 5 running Android 6.0.1.
For an app that continually shows issues on newer versions of android, and that lacks features compared to more recent, free terminal emulators, it's shocking this is still up for sale. Once a great terminal app, now just a relic.
This app does not function properly on android lollipop. Crashes instead of bringing up the keyboard. termux is a good alternative that works on modern Android devices.
Every time I try to use the Android keyboard in BTEP it crashes. Have submitted several detailed crash reports over several months. Fresh reinstall doesn't help, even tried a custom keyboard. Abandonware anyone?
- Emulates VT100 only - Select/Copy/Paste is a pain - GUI dialogs and menu are ugly
Thus used to be the go-to emulator, but no longer works for me. On Android 5, as soon as I tap to type, it force closes. Appears to be a dead app.
Almost perfect with the hacker's keyboard. But where's UTF-8 support? Very frustrating.
Touch events buggy on galaxy 6, cant bring up edit text menu consistently, which is necessary in fullscreen mode if you want to get to settings. Please allow binding menu key to something other than right alt as most keyboards dont have one. On another note, cant find a better terminal app, its the best. Please address these issues and update your website. Thanks - David
During SSH sessions ConnectBot's keyboard obscures the command line. This is not true with BTEP and is worth the price for that alone.
Doesn't seem to work anymore and doesn't get updates to keep it compatible with new devices.
The terminal opens, I tap to open the keyboard (lollipop stock) and the app crashes, completely unusable.
Good option for many people maybe. Lack of proper ssh key support kills it for me though.
I wrote a review of this app on 5/16/2015 in which I said this has been my go-to app for years until it quit working with that particular update. Well, you *still* can't contact the developer, and the current version *still* crashes when you summon the OSK. Seriously, what is going on? Running a Nexus 4 using Android 5.1.1. Nothing weird or customized. EDIT: 12/21/15... Still no response, or resolution, from the author. I guess this is petty much abandonware.

There is a bug where New Line always sends /x0A so not possible to get Carriage Return to work. PLEASE FIX
Was a great app but an update broke the OSK functionality. Now it crashes when the keyboard pops up. Installed on Verizon Droid Turbo running Android 5.1
Good app, but now crashes everytime I have a terminal open and touch the screen to load the keyboard. It seems it crashes loading the keyboard. I'm running a nexus 5 with lolipop 5.1.1
Since the service provider pushed the latest Android version to the phone, it's been dead
Was my favorite terminal emulator but seems to be abandoned now it just force closes in Lollipop
Crashes when I try to focus the keyboard on Android 5.0.2 - Nexus 6
On my Nexus 6 and Nexus 7, the app dies at the instant I open the stock keyboard. So this app has become totally useless.
BTEP is a fantastic terminal emulator which I have used and enjoyed for years. Unfortunately, with the latest version, the moment I summon the on-screen keyboard, the app crashes. When I try to click on "Report", I can't tap on agreeing to the terms and conditions because the OSK then gets in the way and stays in the way. I tried going to route of filing a bug report via the link here in this app's Google Store page, but it doesn't work, either, and the only other thing I can find online is a wiki. To The Developer: Please track the issue down, but also please figure out a way to fix the complete lack of functional ways to contact you, too. Thanks!
Doesn't work with lollipop even Google published beta to developers half year ago!!!
An amazing terminal for Android, very helpful and easy to use!
This app was working great but now in latest stable build of Android 5.0 Lolipop, it crashes whenever trying to bring the keyboard up. Really hope this is updated soon, as this was my go-to Terminal emulator
Installed ok. But no input accepted when running. RETURN key works. So do numbers. But normal chars, no way. No reports in the fora. Sucks. Samsung tablet android 4.0.4
Now i cannot ssh anymore. 'Cannot resolve hostname'.
Why doesn't "exit" close down the app anymore? It was very useful. Also, it crashes on galaxy s3.
No progress on this for six months.
Works exactly as described. Great swiss-army utility for Android.
This is definitely better than the normal Terminal Emulator app. Wakelock actually works in this. Worth the money.
Host names cannotbe resolved, shortcuts just edit themselves, no updates for a long time.
I'm using this App with the Hacking & Developing Keyboard, and let's just say, I couldn't do my work without it. Easily the best terminal for Android, far outpaces the competition, including the Bot that starts with Connect. Using the H&DK app with it really kicks this app to Eleven.
Everything works well but it's lacking UTF8 support which is a big no-no in 2012.
I'm not sure when this app stopped working, but I just installed it on a Nexus 7 and it can't resolve anything via DNS.
Good option for many people maybe. Lack of proper ssh key support kills it for me though.
Needs internal server list like xbmc remote or unified remote. Internal server list would be cool. Rather than shortcut icons on the desktop. Also Server Auditor is free and does key management for you.
At first the application didnt work as supposed to. I couldnt type anything in the command line. You need to change input method in the preferences from character based to word based. All in all a great app and great support.
