Learning new words and expressions is an important part when studying a new language. There are new grammar rules and different ways to spell them than you are used to. This application helps you define new words and expressions, along with their translations and phonetics.

You can define as many dictionaries as you want, one or more for each language you learn. For instance, you can have distinct dictionaries for technical and legal terms.

Then for each dictionary you add foreign words translated in a reference language of your choice. Usually the reference language is your native one, but this is not mandatory. You can switch between the foreign and the reference language and thus you have a two-ways dictionary. Searching for words is easy: you can search for an entire word or just for a part of it. You will receive all expressions containing the string you searched for. For example, searching for the “home” will retrieve words like “home”, “homework”, “hometown”.

Each dictionary has a quiz section. The system will prompt you with a reference/foreign word or expression and you have to think how to translate it. Then the real translation is revealed. Thus you can asses how familiar you are with the vocabulary.

A bulk import section is also available for a dictionary. For each word/expression to import, you must have a row in the following format: “word_in_foreign_language|word_reference_language|phonetics” or “word_in_foreign_language|word_reference_language”. For instance, your reference language is English and you study French. In French, the word “house” is translated as “maison”. When importing, the corresponding row could be: “maison|home”.
