Crucifixión de Cristo

"Entonces aparecerá en el cielo la señal del Hijo del Hombre" (Mt 24,30). La cruz es el símbolo del cristiano, que nos enseña cuál es nuestra auténtica vocación como seres humanos.

Hoy parecemos asistir a la desaparición progresiva del símbolo de la cruz. Desaparece de las casas de los vivos y de las tumbas de los muertos, y desaparece sobre todo del corazón de muchos hombres y mujeres a quienes molesta contemplar a un hombre clavado en la cruz. Esto no nos debe extrañar, pues ya desde el inicio del cristianismo San Pablo hablaba de falsos hermanos que querían abolir la cruz: "Porque son muchos y ahora os lo digo con lágrimas, que son enemigos de la cruz de Cristo" (Flp 3, 18).

Unos afirman que es un símbolo maldito; otros que no hubo tal cruz, sino que era un palo; para muchos el Cristo de la cruz es un Cristo impotente; hay quien enseña que Cristo no murió en la cruz. La cruz es símbolo de humillación, derrota y muerte para todos aquellos que ignoran el poder de Cristo para cambiar la humillación en exaltación, la derrota en victoria, la muerte en vida y la cruz en camino hacia la luz.

Jesús, sabiendo el rechazo que iba producir la predicación de la cruz, "comenzó a manifestar a sus discípulos que Él debía ir a Jerusalén y sufrir mucho... ser matado y resucitar al tercer día. Pedro le tomó aparte y se puso a reprenderle: '¡Lejos de ti, Señor, de ningún modo te sucederá eso!' Pero Él dijo a Pedro: ¡Quítate de mi vista, Satanás!¡...porque tus pensamientos no son de Dios, sino de los hombres!" (Mt 16, 21-23).
Pedro ignoraba el poder de Cristo y no tenía fe en la resurrección, por eso quiso apartarlo del camino que lleva a la cruz, pero Cristo le enseña que el que se opone a la cruz se pone de lado de Satanás. (Mt 24,30) "Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven." The cross is the symbol of the Christian who teaches us what our true vocation as human beings.

Today we seem to attend the progressive disappearance of the symbol of the cross. Disappears from the homes of the living and the graves of the dead and disappeared especially the hearts of many men and women who are bothered watch a man nailed to the cross. This should not surprise us, since already from the beginning of Christianity Paul spoke of false brethren who wanted to abolish the cross: "Because they are many and now I say with tears that are enemies of the cross of Christ" (Phil 3: 18).

Some say it's a damn symbol; others that no such cross but it was a stick; for many the Christ of the cross is a powerless Christ; Some teach that Christ did not die on the cross. The cross is a symbol of humiliation, defeat and death for those who ignore the power of Christ to change the exaltation humiliation, defeat into victory, life and death on the cross on the way to the light.

Jesus, knowing that rejection would produce the preaching of the cross, "began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things ... be killed and resurrected the third day. Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him 'far from thee, Lord, in any way that will happen!' But he said to Peter: Get behind me, Satan ... because your thoughts are not of God but of men "! (Mt 16, 21-23).
Peter ignored the power of Christ and had no faith in the resurrection, so wanted out of the way leading to the cross, but Christ teaches that who opposes the cross stands side of Satan.
